[Progress][NSFW] 12 Months of GLP1's and Lifting ~30kg down

12 replies6 peopleMar 24, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

how do GLP-1 medications combined with lifting and TRT affect weight, mood, and daily life after a year

One user describes starting at 131-132 kg with depression, anxiety, sleep apnea and alcohol use, then losing to 105 kg after a year on GLP-1s while stopping antidepressants and alcohol. TRT and a CJC-1295/Ipamorelin protocol are discussed for energy, mood and recovery, with IGF-1 levels tracked after dose changes. Others share similar mood and motivation gains on TRT plus tirzepatide, and note the mental-health overlap with weight issues.

I began trying to lose weight in 2025 while dealing with depression and anxiety. I had just started antidepressants for the first time, beginning with Lexapro and later adding Bupropion. On top of that I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, which left me exhausted and unmotivated. In my early thirties I had once been fairly fit from lifting since age seventeen, training two or three times a week and seeing quick muscle gains that also helped my mood. At my heaviest I reached about 131-132 kg at 185.5 cm tall, though I had stopped weighing myself out of embarrassment. Stress from work led me to drink wine as a reward.

The site cut my post because of the character limit. As of 24 March 2026 I have been off Lexapro and Bupropion for a month. I no longer feel depressed or anxious and have no interest in alcohol. My weight is around 105 kg and I plan to lose another 10 kg slowly over many months. The medication started a chain reaction that made me look after myself. It is not only about the scale or clothes; it gave me a sense of control in a world that often feels overwhelming. Now that I do not want to die I doubt I would have followed through with that earlier thought.

Great progress. You are not alone in your struggles. Some people use HCG to support testicular function and a bit of natural testosterone production.

GreenAlder76archiveMar 24

Wondering how you manage that particular regimen.

SteadyTimber49archiveMar 24

That's awesome! It looks like you've been through a big path toward better wellness, and it always pleases me to learn of others achieving more satisfaction with their daily existence. Stay with it, friend.

PatientSignal25archiveMar 24

You aced that completely with impressive results.

RustBeacon82archiveMar 24

Your path sounds really impressive so far. Stick with what you're doing. Glad to hear about beating the addiction and turning your situation around.

Weight issues and ADHD often overlap, so a fair number of people here may be neurodiverse. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried HCG at first but it did not do much for testicular size and seemed to raise my E2, which complicated my TRT dosing. I may drop it or use less for the next three months. Last night I only slept four and a half hours after my TRT injection. I had been running 250 mcg twice daily fasted and my IGF-1 hit 405. Now I am on 200 mcg before bed and waiting for new labs. I do not want to push acromegaly-type changes.

Appreciate the reply and it got a chuckle out of me. Really should have checked my own numbers prior to beginning the protocol with that amount every night. However after only three weeks I went for a blood test anyway. Awaiting the results now.

Please keep me updated. My second set of results just came back. Moving from twice-daily 250 mcg to once-daily dropped my IGF-1 from 405 to 314 ng/mL against a reference of roughly 84-245. ChatGPT estimated my latest Z-score around 3.5-3.8, down from about 5.9. I would like to aim closer to 3, so I might try 100 mcg twice a day instead.

I'll definitely post my igf-1 results once they come in. Thanks for posting those numbers. I'll share my overall and unbound testosterone readings plus estrogen too if folks want them. At the moment I'm taking 125 milligrams of testosterone cypionate twice each week. I may need to lower that amount but the labs should clarify everything.

How are you feeling on this dose? Without labs I am curious about mood, libido and general wellbeing. TRT has made a huge difference for me. Public speaking, meeting people and work stress all feel manageable now. I can let small things go more easily. In a toxic job I recently told my boss I was taking four weeks off and laid out the terms I wanted, and he respected the direct approach. I value myself more and see my contributions more clearly. It also explains why society often dislikes TRT: people without confidence are easier to control.

Feels report: I feel great. Before I dealt with depression, anxiety, constant sluggishness and never feeling rested. SSRIs helped but left me without purpose or motivation for things I used to enjoy. Now after 7-8 hours of sleep I feel rested. Anxiety and depression are gone and I stopped the meds. I go to the gym three times a week. With tirzepatide I have lost 25 lbs since January 10th.
