GHK-CU Water Retention

11 replies7 peopleOct 6, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does GHK-CU cause water retention and how should dosing differ for men?

One user reported noticeable facial and body water retention starting at 2 mg daily that resolved when stopping and returned on restart. Most others using 2–5 mg daily or in cycles for months reported no retention at all, with a few attributing similar effects to different peptides instead. The affected user plans to drop to 0.5 mg after reading that men may need lower doses than women.

I've begun GHK-CU at 2 mg each day and notice I'm retaining water in my face and body. It's getting annoying. I paused for two days then restarted, and the retention returned on the second day, mostly visible in my face. Has anyone else run into this? Should I lower the dose?

I began two and a half weeks ago and haven't noticed or measured any water retention.

I haven't run into this during the eight months I've used Cu. I began at a lower dose but I'm not sure if that changes anything. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can share useful info.

I've been cycling it for the past six months and don't remember any water retention issues. I'm also using 2 mg.

I've taken 2.5 mg daily since May with no water retention, except for what I'm seeing now from the sermorelin.

I'm on 5 mg a day and two months in with no water retention. I only get that from Ipamorelin.

Guess it might just be me. My wife has no water retention either. I could try dropping to 1 mg.

I'd say it's probably not the ghkcu. If you think it is, stop completely for a short time to check whether that's the factor causing the water retention.

IronFenwick84archiveOct 6

I've used it for months, up to 3.75 mg daily, and haven't noticed any water retention.

Yes I stopped and the water retention in my face disappeared. I just read that men using GHK-CU need a much lower dose and women handle higher amounts better because of how their bodies process estrogen. Men's receptors can also be more sensitive. I think I'll reduce to 0.5 mg.

How old are you? Generally speaking, under middle age your body is still making collagen at a sufficient level and the extra building blocks from these peptides are more likely to be useless or sometimes work against your goals.

I'm a southeast Asian male in my mid forties.
