Just double-checking because I really do not want to mess this up. With a 5 mg vial I plan to add 2 ml of bac water by injecting it down the inside wall and swirling until everything is dissolved. After that every 0.1 ml equals 10 units, so 40 units would give me the 1 mg starting amount I am aiming for.

With a 5 mg vial I would add no more than 1 ml of bac water. A dosing calculator can help work out the units.

To get 1 mg out of the 5 mg vial you simply take one-fifth of whatever total volume you added. Since 100 units is 1 ml, 40 units is one-fifth of 2 ml.

Using a reverse calculator and stopping at a marked line on the syringe is simpler, and it helps to know the actual measured amount in the vial rather than just the stated 5 mg. Math is easy to get wrong.

A 5 mg vial gives five separate 1 mg doses. Adding 50 units of bac water means 10 units per dose. Adding 100 units instead means 20 units per dose. I prefer the smaller volumes and simpler numbers, but your original plan was also right.

Smart to ask first. Your calculations hold if the vial truly contains 5 mg. Batches often run about 5 percent over, which here would be a 10 percent increase. Checking the COA for the specific batch is wise. I personally use 1 ml bac water and draw 20 units, but everyone should choose what suits them.

Smaller injection volume is the main reason. I actually lean toward larger volumes because the solution is milder and less likely to irritate the site, and it is easier to measure accurately. Doses that require only single-digit units are hard to draw precisely in a standard syringe, so anything under 30 units is better in a 0.5 ml syringe.

Yes, the goal is a smaller shot. I aim to keep injections at 25 units or below and mix accordingly. With this type of peptide there is no advantage to a larger volume. For a 50 mg vial dosing 10 mg I use 1 ml bac water so each dose is 20 units.

For me 1 ml equals 100 units makes the arithmetic straightforward, and I also favor smaller injection amounts because I have limited experience.

A vial labeled 5 mg might actually hold 5.5 mg, which is 10 percent more than expected. Everyone should verify my arithmetic.

You said 5 percent over is common and that equals 10 percent here. Percentages stay the same regardless. Maybe you meant an extra 0.5 mg, which would be 10 percent of this vial. I do not worry much about overfills or starting below the usual trial doses.

If I begin at just 1 mg per week, does a possible small overfill matter much when most start retatrutide at 2.5 mg anyway?

It depends on how you react. Trials began at 2 mg. I started with 1 mg twice weekly, then moved to 2 mg once weekly, then stepped up by 2 mg every four weeks. Some stay at 1 or 2 mg because of side effects. If you respond well it should be fine.
