A little different topic: could we talk about reducing plastic waste? 🌱

I posted before and would still like to hear what others think. No one has to be right or wrong here.

The amount seems small next to other everyday plastics that can already go in the recycle bin. I don't really have a view either way.

I believe the current setup is already reduced as far as possible.

Which parts exactly count as unnecessary right now?

That's why I'm looking at pens instead. They seem to create less waste than daily syringes and all their plastic caps.

I cut plastic use another way. I stick with disposable syringes but now make my own sports drinks most days instead of collecting empty bottles that don't get recycled locally anyway.

How suitable is it to keep starting brand-new threads that stray far from the site's main focus? Zodiac signs, personal check-ins, this topic, plus very basic questions already covered elsewhere. If the aim is to reach a higher level, I doubt the system works that way, and those tags don't bring real extra perks. If I ran a forum I would mark down repeated low-content posts.

I think protecting people comes before worrying about the environment here. There also isn't enough waste to make it worth changing things.

I think there's quite a bit of plastic involved, though nowhere near hospital levels. I'll do what I can and plan to move to pens.

Where I am, plastics, metals and cartons get picked up separately for recycling. I try to sort as much as possible.

To cut my plastic use, avoid syringes, and stop relying on pricey sterile water, I tried snorting the lyophilized version. I wouldn't suggest it. Seriously, don't try it.

Pens cut a lot of plastic. Ordering bigger amounts at once lowers shipping waste. Vials can go into recycling once the tops are off. That leaves only pen needles, wipes, vial tops, a couple of syringes for mixing, and vent needles.

Funny you bring it up. When the compounded version arrives each month it comes in a big foam cooler, so at least I'm keeping that out of the landfill. But really, everything in this country is plastic, and syringes are a tiny part of it.

I'm not sure what has people acting negative and short-tempered lately, but it's tiresome. This is just the internet, so there's no need to take things personally or argue. I'd like everyone to ease up a bit and remember we're all here for similar reasons. We can still enjoy the space and even joke around if we stay aware of the setting and the people involved.
