What happens when you come off of Tessamorelin?

7 replies7 peopleJan 27, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

does visceral fat return after stopping tesamorelin especially when using it with other weight-loss peptides

Forum users note that study participants regained visceral fat after cycling off, but attribute this to ongoing HIV meds rather than the peptide itself. Some report temporary water-weight loss upon stopping, which can make body-fat percentage appear higher without actual fat regain. Lifestyle and diet changes are seen as key to keeping results, and visceral fat sits deeper than subcutaneous fat.

Studies showed that nearly everyone who stopped the peptide eventually regained the visceral fat they had lost. Most people on forums are already using another weight-loss peptide at the same time though. I wanted to know if anyone has cycled off this one while staying on a different agonist and what their results were afterward.

Those studies used HIV patients whose lipodystrophy came from the drugs they were taking for the virus. It makes sense they put the fat back on while still on those same drugs. With decent diet and lifestyle changes the fat should stay off, but like any weight loss it will return if nothing healthy is maintained.

I drop a lot of water weight whenever I stop. It sometimes feels like the peptide fills my muscles with water so the scale shows a lower fat percentage, and that number jumps back up fast once I quit. My body-fat percentage still looks good overall, but I wonder if it is just messing with the readings.

That lines up because the peptide can cause water retention. Once you stop, the extra water comes off so the scale drops without losing fat, which means fat then makes up a bigger share of whatever weight is left.

Visceral fat does not appear overnight. It builds over weeks or months depending on how bad the diet gets.

Is visceral fat always located above the muscle?

No, it is actually the reverse in the belly area. Visceral fat sits deep inside the abdominal cavity around the organs and lies underneath the abdominal wall and muscles. The pinchable layer right under the skin sits on top of the muscles instead.

Thanks. Since starting the other peptides I have run out of pinchable fat on my stomach and had to stop injecting there, yet the area still protrudes a little. I am hoping this peptide will help with that.
