Anyone else had similar success on a consistently low dose?

16 replies10 peopleMay 17, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Can consistently low doses of retatrutide (1 mg/week or less) produce substantial weight loss comparable to higher doses?

Multiple users report strong results on low doses, with one losing nearly 24 lb over nine weeks while staying at 0.5-0.7 mg twice weekly and another dropping 20 lb over 16 weeks up to 1.25 mg. Others describe similar outcomes at 1-2.5 mg, noting reduced food noise without major side effects and the value of holding the lowest effective dose. Several started low to avoid sides and saw no need to increase once progress continued steadily.

I'm on week 9 of reta and down 23.8 lb already, which still shocks me. Most reports I see use 2-10 mg weekly for similar results, so I'm wondering if anyone else has matched that kind of progress at 1 mg per week or below. The hyper-responder idea gets mentioned a lot but feels like it might be made up. I tracked it on a graph of weight against dose every two weeks. Started at 0.5 mg twice a week to limit sides and stayed there through March because the scale kept moving. Bumped to 0.7 mg for a bit just to test and felt wiped out with bad fatigue plus weaker gym and hiking sessions. Dosing Tuesdays and Fridays, the drop back to 0.5 mg on Friday left me feeling decent again. Resting heart rate stayed basically the same around 49-50 and sleep held at 7-8 hours.

Nice work. No reason to go higher if the current amount is still delivering results. These GLP-1 drugs are far more potent than the body's own version, so it's not surprising that some people respond well to much smaller amounts.

Time to get real. First thing you should do is head to church, drop to your knees, and thank whatever's up there for the luck, then confess for making everyone else jealous. I started testosterone because my levels were low, and reading this made them feel even lower than a toddler girl's. On a lighter note, well done. Most folks spend their lives chasing strength, but you've got so much that serious lifting looks ordinary now. Cheers. And if you're even thinking about going up again, dunk that idea in ice water and forget it.

Sounds like the classic too much of a good thing problem. Thanks though. At this pace my 10 mg vials are going to outlast my working years. No plans to raise anything. Dropping from 300 lb deadlift triples down to 205 lb triples was miserable enough that I won't repeat it.

I'm seeing comparable progress on a low dose too, just starting week 8. Injections every five days, began April 1 at 1 mg. First month the scale moved quicker than planned, probably a lot of water. Week 5 went to 1.5 mg and yesterday to 2 mg, where I expect to stay. Food suppression isn't strong and appetite is still there, but the mental noise around eating dropped and sweet or junk cravings vanished. 41-year-old female, 5'5", started at 164.8 lb, now 147.2 lb, goal 130.

Same here. Dropped 7-8 kg in four weeks on 1 mg. Started at 90 kg. If you're not carrying a lot of extra weight and haven't used these meds before, 1 mg seems like a solid entry point for plenty of people.

Still spreading the jealousy, I see. Same boat over here, though I need to reach 300 lb first, maybe next life.

My wife reached her goal and lost 35 lb without ever going past 2.5 mg every six days.

Completely agree. Reddit is too much for me at this point. There's another board that's tougher to join but has solid information, though I suspect plenty of the same crowd is there so I keep to myself. The glp1forum is the one I like best.

One of those threads just showed up in my feed. How do these people avoid winning a Darwin award? Seriously.

They aren't nearly as sharp as they think they are.

Why does it surprise you? That's what happens when reproduction works the way it does. Belmont versus Fishtown. When athletes get praised more than the top students, this is the predictable result. The internet gave people who used to get ignored or mocked an equal platform and sometimes even approval.

Don't overlook the amateur researchers, the old athletes trying to relive their peak.

By then they've already had kids, so the damage is done.

16 weeks in. Began at 0.5 mg and worked up to 1.25 mg now. Down 20 lb total. Taking it slow.

I only reached 3 mg per week after nine months. Began at 0.5 mg weekly, held every level for at least four weeks, and only moved up after two weeks with no scale change. Increases were 0.25-0.5 mg at a time. It felt slow compared with most, but my target was 1-2 lb per week and the low amounts handled that fine. Staying at the smallest dose that works has mattered to me.
