When should i up dose of reta?

Summary

When to increase from 1 mg retatrutide for fat loss while managing side effects

Most participants agree one week at 1 mg is too soon for most people and that steady state takes about four weeks at any given dose. Several suggest moving to the 2 mg starting dose used in trials if tolerance is good, while others describe faster ramps that reached higher accumulated levels without major issues. Everyone stresses watching personal side effects and understanding the drug's long half-life before increasing.

I've just started my first week with 1 mg of reta and handled it okay with some mild reduction in hunger. Is it time to increase to 2 mg? I'm aiming for better fat loss results.

One week is pretty short to judge your response. Trials began at 2 mg though, so if sides are tolerable or absent you could go up. Keep in mind it takes four weeks to reach steady state at the new level, so stay there a month once you move. I did 1 mg twice weekly for the first two weeks before going to 2 mg once a week, but looking back I probably could have started at 2 mg.

It takes about four weeks to reach steady state for any given dose. Steady state differs from therapeutic exposure. I switched from tirzepatide to reta specifically for the glucagon signaling and aimed for roughly 6-8 mg weekly to activate that pathway reliably. Because I was already on a GLP I ramped faster with small frequent doses while monitoring sides and reached an accumulated 7.5 mg level by day 16 with no major problems.

For someone brand new to these drugs the therapeutic effect and steady state are fairly close. I noticed the first 1 mg dose the same day and each week just built on that feeling, so it felt active right away. If someone is worried about going from 1 mg to 2 mg after only a week I don't see it as a problem, though responses differ.

It comes down to how you tolerate it. I began at 2 mg and raised by 0.5 mg every five days. I'm about to pin 4 mg next, maybe 4.5 mg, because sides have stayed mild and I'm still eating normally except for less snacking and overeating.

I would have no problem going straight to 2 mg and holding there for a few weeks to check tolerance.

What do you mean by it takes four weeks to reach therapeutic levels?

It takes a full 28 days for the medication to reach its maximum level or saturation at that dose. Some effect may appear earlier but full impact is not reached until then, whether the dose is 2 mg, 4 mg or anything else. A plotter tool helps show how levels build over time with different schedules.

I have no sides at 4 mg every 84 hours. If 1 mg per week is working I'd stay there the full four weeks before considering an increase. Titration next week is probably fine since 2 mg is the phase-three starting dose and you've handled it well so far. This is a long process though, and the medication builds gradually in the body.

It depends on your starting point and goals. If you are very overweight it can make sense to go slower because rapid loss raises risks like gallstones or fainting. Increasing faster than every four weeks raises the chance of strong side effects, and because of the long half-life those effects can linger a week or longer. Common sides include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation, and vomiting for days can become serious. Peak sides often show up around month two to four while doses are still rising. You really need to understand how the drug behaves in the body before speeding up titration.

What if you are using pre-filled pens? I've heard the potency drops once the solution is already mixed, so some people start higher. Does mixing your own with bac water mean you should begin lower?

You should do more reading before using these peptides. The dose itself is what matters, not whether it comes in a pen or a vial you mix. It is easy to get the amount wrong and that is the biggest risk with self-prepared versions. Once mixed, any solution will degrade a little even when refrigerated, but the loss is usually small over a few months. Factory pens are formulated to stay stable much longer.
