Is this everything I need to get started?

Summary

What supplies do I need to reconstitute and filter peptides, and is filtering required?

The original poster lists a full set of items for reconstituting and filtering two peptides and asks if anything is missing. Several replies debate the necessity of empty vials and filters, with some arguing they are unnecessary while others defend their use for sterility. Dosing suggestions and a cautious approach to first injections are also shared. Participants note that filtering targets sterility rather than endotoxins and that some skip it when endo testing is available.

Whether empty vials and filters are needed or should be skipped when endo testing is present.

I've ordered RT30 and GHKCU-100. Also arriving are bac water, 13mm 0.22um filters, 3ml empty sterile vials for one peptide, 10ml empty sterile vials for the other, 3ml luer lock syringes, 27g 1.5 inch needles, 25g 5/8 inch needles, 30g 1/2 inch needles, 0.5ml 30g 8mm microfine u100 syringes, alcohol wipes, and a sharps bin. Does this cover everything needed for reconstitution and filtering, or have I overlooked something?

PlainAlder11archiveApr 28

So, what's the dose gonna be?

CopperBeacon48archiveApr 28

Bac water, 30g 1ml syringes or 0.5ml for pinning with 1ml used for mixing, alcohol wipes, and a sharps bin are all that is required. The rest of the items are unnecessary, especially the empty vials.

IronLedger65archiveApr 28

The poster clearly intends to filter and the list appears thorough and complete once a sharps bin is included. Any plastic container with a lid that is clearly marked can serve as a sharps bin. Some areas provide one at no cost.

A 3ml syringe with a 25g needle works better for reconstitution in my experience. If the empty vials are discarded, what container will be used to hold the filtered material after drawing it out of the original vial?

2mg for the first peptide. Probably begin the second one at 1mg.

Thank you. A sharps bin is already on order.

ClearTimber11archiveApr 28

I always begin with roughly one-fifth of the planned starting dose to check for any unusual reactions before using the full amount a day or two later. Some individuals are quite sensitive, so why take the chance.

I had considered 1ml twice weekly at the beginning but had not considered spreading a smaller amount across more days. Thanks for the suggestion.

They do not intend to filter, which is why they view those supplies as unnecessary. If a batch has sterility testing and some assurance the product is clean, reconstituting and storing in the original vial without filtering is not unreasonable. Filtering itself can introduce contamination or involve non-sterile supplies even when care is taken. This is not an argument against filtering, only recognition that a reasonable case exists for skipping it.

Solid list. Some add a spray bottle of 70 percent isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the work surface before reconstituting. One person even sprays the supplies themselves, which seems excessive, but preferences vary. The 70 percent strength is important because the water content prevents immediate evaporation.

The original poster was not the person I meant by they. I believe the poster does plan to filter. My earlier comment addressed a different question entirely. Hope that clears it up.

There it is. Knew there was something.

Yes, 1mg not 1ml. I am used to writing recipe measurements rather than peptide amounts.

CopperPebble51archiveApr 28

I'm a bit confused. Having endo testing is good, but filtering is done for sterility, right? The filters do not remove endotoxins.

Correct, and I probably will not filter, though I have changed my mind before. I have not filtered any vial since the start of the year. I own the equipment but purchased only ten filters.
