You're not going to add actual fat from just a day or two of eating whatever. That voice in your head is already sounding like the start of an eating disorder. Even if the number on the scale rises it drops again quickly. I've skipped too many things in the past because I was worried about calories, and while the medication quieted the constant thoughts about food it left my fixation on weight and appearance untouched. Talking to a therapist has made a difference. Go anyway and let yourself sample things without finishing everything. You can share plates or set food down once you've tried it. Once I stopped telling myself certain items were completely off limits I stopped swinging between strict limits and later binges on worse choices.
Been using this med for half a year, dropped about seventy pounds and reached my target. My birthday is coming up and we have tickets to the usual beer and food festival we attend every year. It has lots of different stalls with food and drinks and it used to be one of my favorite things, but now I'm anxious about going. I've stuck to a tight eating plan for months with almost no alcohol and I've gotten pretty fixated on what I consume. I almost don't want to go because I'm stressing over calories and possible weight gain, yet I don't want to turn into someone who can't enjoy anything. I keep reminding myself that a couple extra pounds aren't permanent and I can get back on track afterward, but it's taking a lot of mental effort to believe that. Has anyone else felt this kind of obsession and worried they might be sliding into disordered eating?
