retatrutide first weeks weight loss side effects dosing schedule

One user started retatrutide at 2 mg and lost 37 lbs over eight weeks while increasing the dose to 8 mg every five days. Appetite suppression was strong, weight dropped quickly at first then slowed with some plateaus, and most side effects faded after the initial doses. Skin sensitivity and dry mouth persisted mildly; heart-rate spike and other early effects did not return with later increases. Other users reported similar skin sensitivity and discussed stacking or timing.

One reply warned that such rapid loss risks lean-mass breakdown; the original poster said they accept some muscle loss and feel fine.

Took my first 2 mg shot on the third and dropped from 229 to 220.3 lbs in six days. Appetite vanished completely. After the first lower-right stomach pin I napped and woke with a heart rate around 100, felt awful, was cold, mouth bone-dry, and the skin on my triceps hurt at the slightest touch; that faded after two or three days. I moved the next shot to the lower left side and noticed hunger returning, so I switched to every six days. Face looks less puffy already. Planning weekly updates and photos once I hit 170.

Could the heart-rate jump have come from taking more than your system was ready for?

IronPebble47archiveApr 9

Same heart-rate rise happened to me at the start; it settled after a week or two even though I kept raising the dose. The tricep-skin sensitivity hit hard when I moved from roughly 4.5 mg to 6 mg a week and I had to drop back. Glad the scale is already moving for you. Keep the fluids up.

LevelAnchor84archiveApr 9

Nothing you described is surprising for week one at 2 mg.

Heart rate went back to normal after that first spike and hasn't repeated. I won't push past 2 mg once a week because of the skin issue and because needles make me nervous. The 8 lb drop in six days still feels unreal. I stuck with the clinical starting dose instead of jumping to 4 mg.

Day seven: 219.9 lbs, total loss 9.1 lbs. Face looks noticeably less bloated. Woke with a sore throat that disappeared after water, sweated heavily overnight even though the room was 60-62 degrees, and skin is still a bit touch-sensitive. Switched to every six days because hunger was creeping back in.

CopperBeacon14archiveApr 15

Nice drop. Pinning at bedtime can blunt the heart-rate and pain sides for me. Once you're past the first few doses you might try that, but stay awake the first time you change anything. Keep going.

KeenKettle95archiveApr 17

Two-week check: 215.2 lbs, another 4.7 lbs gone. Moved to 4 mg after five days and the scale started moving again after stalling at 218. Only sides now are occasional dry mouth and sensitive skin. Total loss 13.8 lbs in fourteen days. Staying at 4 mg until progress slows.

Very similar path for me starting at 2.5 mg. Third week was rough with bloating and constant bathroom trips; holding the next shot until that settles. Skin on my legs is sensitive when pants rub but showers feel great.

KeenWillow45archiveApr 19

Heart rate that high hours later plus feeling cold and miserable isn't typical. Could be the starting dose or maybe the peptide wasn't clean.

Finished the whole vial with no repeat problems, so it was probably just the first exposure. Even at 4 mg later I never got those early sides again. Still get the sensitive skin and dry mouth, but everything else settled.

When you stack reta and tirz, do you do them the same day or spread them out? What doses, and how do you add cagri when you use it?

CopperBeacon14archiveApr 23
↳ replying to @PatientHarbour23

Both on Sunday night before bed: 6-7 mg reta and 15-16 mg tirz. Recently raised the doses and weight is moving again with gym and fasting. Trying 0.5 mg cagri on the same day but still figuring out how I feel about it.

Due for tirz tonight and thinking of lowering both to test tolerance after the last 1 mg reta hit hard. Weekend plans make bathroom issues risky. Still unsure about starting cagri but would begin tiny if I do.

Month one: 229 to 208 lbs. Only dry mouth and sensitive skin remain. Dosing schedule so far was 2 mg, 2 mg, 4 mg, 4 mg, 4 mg, 6 mg, 6 mg.

KeenKettle95archiveJun 3

Month two: 208 to 192 lbs. Cold at bedtime and occasional skin sensitivity are the only leftovers. Hit some plateaus. Totals: 21 lbs month one, 16 lbs month two, 37 lbs overall. Now on 8 mg every five days.

NorthWillow14archiveJun 3

How do you like dosing every five days? I notice the effect dropping off in the last couple of days before my usual shot.

KeenKettle95archiveJun 4
↳ replying to @NorthWillow14

Every five days feels right. Hunger used to ramp up hard by day five or six on a weekly schedule. Skin sensitivity was brutal at first but my body adjusted and now it's minor.

Almost 9 lbs in under a week is strong and the appetite control is real. Just remember the body can only pull so many calories from fat stores each day; going far beyond that tends to cost muscle instead. Might be worth checking what a sustainable deficit looks like at your current weight.

CopperSignal27archiveJun 5

Split dosing might have helped the skin issue, but yours stayed manageable even with increases. 37 lbs in eight weeks is still very fast once you subtract water weight. At that rate you're running a big daily deficit even if you're not super active or restricting food much.

Skin sensitivity dropped a lot after the first weeks at 4 mg; now at 8 mg it only shows when I'm cold and it's minor. No fatigue or sleep trouble. Job is desk work, I eat fast food and drink energy drinks, yet the scale keeps moving. Expect some muscle loss and that's fine. Will post pictures next month when I feel better about how I look. Hoping to be around 170 by then. Used to lift and look forward to getting back to it once the weight is down.

CopperSignal27archiveJun 5

Energy expenditure varies more than the usual formulas suggest. Based on your loss rate you must be burning well over 3000 kcal a day despite not being very active or severely obese. After big weight loss I now need far fewer calories just to maintain.

KeenKettle95archiveJun 5

I haven't tried to explain the numbers, just happy the scale is dropping. The fast pace kept going past the initial water loss, which surprised me. I was stuck at 202 for five days before it moved again. Old 1500-calorie cuts used to leave me starving; reta changes that completely.

Not AI. I posted it because friends who chased bigger and bigger deficits ended up with health problems. The core point is that fat can only supply a limited number of calories per day no matter how large the deficit is.
