53lb so far, successful switch to Reta from Tirz

Summary

what happens when switching from tirzepatide to retatrutide after good initial weight loss

Users report steady loss continues after switching, though appetite suppression weakens slightly and food noise returns modestly. Stacking both peptides is common once tirzepatide plateaus, with slow titration of the second drug to limit sides. Mitochondrial peptides like SS-31 are discussed as possible add-ons but remain optional.

I began in March at 316 pounds and have now dropped 53 pounds, averaging 2.8 pounds each week. These medicines really work. I moved over to reta roughly eight weeks ago mainly because of what I had been reading. Tirz was still effective at 7.5 mg but I was getting some stomach trouble. While both were in my system the fat loss and appetite control felt very strong. Once tirz cleared I noticed more hunger at times, yet it still does not feel like constant food thoughts. At 8 mg reta split into two 4 mg shots I have had no side effects. I swapped 1.5 mg of tirz for the same amount of reta each week until only reta remained. Around the same period I started my father on tirz so the leftover supply will not go to waste.

Your skin is probably still in good shape at your age so the collagen peptide may not show much yet. I have just begun using it myself. Some say running SS-31 first improves the energy effect from NAD, though both are said to help older users more. If you lift you might look at MOTS-c or the other two compounds mentioned, but they also recommend SS-31 first. Reta is impressive and that total loss is great to see.

I am looking at the newer version of that compound and also dihexa. Both need DMSO, PEG and tween to reconstitute, which is tricky. Dihexa is described as very strong but possibly risky. I get the game-character feeling too.

This is exactly the kind of detail I have been searching for. I moved from compounded sema to peptide tirz and have been researching reta. The main question for me has been why switch if tirz is still working well and without sides. I wanted to understand the actual difference between the two.

I am in the same spot. Tirz is working but reta is said to burn fat more directly, so I am curious.

My wife reached the top tirz dose and we added reta two months ago for the glucagon action. It has been going well. Many people use both together.

Have you seen any new side effects from using both? What doses is she on if you do not mind sharing?

Congratulations on the loss. From what I have read tirz gives stronger appetite control than reta. I switched recently and like it too. For the mitochondrial peptide some people in their forties run it twenty days straight, adding NAD three days a week, then move to MOTS-c. I now use MOTS-c, NAD and 5-amino together three mornings a week. The collagen peptide can take weeks to show and it leaves welts on me no matter where I inject.

If tirz is still working well there is no need to change yet. Save reta for the final twenty or thirty pounds when stubborn fat remains. Tesamorelin is another option some use for visceral fat.

RustLedger21archiveAug 7

That sounds like a smooth plan. A friend of mine wants to make the same change and this method looks workable.

I am currently on 8 mg tirz twice a week and expect reta soon. Did you begin at 4 mg twice weekly while still lowering tirz, or did you start reta at a lower amount?

RustKettle26archiveAug 7

I did plenty of that in the past. I have some of the mitochondrial peptide arriving and plan to try the reset approach. The collagen peptide gave me bad welts until I switched injection sites to the rear. I replaced 1.5 mg tirz with the same amount of reta each week until only reta was left. Appetite control was stronger on tirz, so keep that in mind if you switch.

I am starting the combination today and will report back. Tirz has worked for me and I am curious to see what adding the other one does. I began at 223 pounds, reached 196 recently, and want to get to 165 before moving to maintenance.

You said appetite control was better on tirz, so what made you switch? Was it mainly the visceral fat?

RustKettle26archiveAug 7

Honestly it was curiosity after reading so many claims that reta was better. I had a kit sitting there and eventually tried it. Early weeks seemed faster but now the rate is about the same as before. I am not starving, just less indifferent to food. I probably did not need to switch but I can always return to tirz later if I want. I started my father on the remaining tirz so nothing is wasted.

That makes sense. I am mixing for the same reason of wanting to try the options. Tirz worked so well that on my birthday I did not even want anything special. I feel a level of control over eating that I never had before.

LevelPebble96archiveAug 7

What stood out most to you when comparing the two medicines?

IronLedger99archiveAug 7

Happy Friday everyone. This kind of open sharing is exactly why I joined the group. I may step away for a day or two but I always come back because the updates and support matter. Let us keep the conversation going.

No problems so far after ten weeks. She is still at the top tirz dose while we slowly raised reta: 1 mg for two weeks, 2 mg for two weeks, 3 mg for six weeks, and now 4 mg. We will reassess after another month or two. If reta goes higher I will probably lower the tirz dose at that point.

I combine both. I began moving to reta after stalling at an obese weight and have now reached the upper end of the normal range.

IronLedger99archiveAug 7

I took the first dose of reta today at what I hope is my target amount. Wish me luck.

RustKettle26archiveAug 8

The clearest change was weaker appetite suppression. Everything else feels similar. I have not noticed any heart-rate increase though I am not tracking it. After the first shot I felt something the next day but not since. I just finished a long shift and had leftover roast for dinner. Never tried that fish before.

What starting amount of reta and any side effects so far?

IronLedger99archiveAug 9
↳ replying to @RustKettle26

I like tacos too. That fish is mild and takes on whatever seasoning you use. Friday felt great, yesterday a bit tired, and today I am back to normal. I am keeping doses modest and started the day with plenty of water and a protein shake since hunger is low. Never been to that taco place.

She began at 1 mg for two weeks, then 2 mg for three weeks, 3 mg for four weeks, and recently moved to 4 mg split twice weekly. Most sides she feels are still from the tirz. We took the increases slowly.

SlowAlder89archiveAug 17

Unless sides are bad at 11 mg you still have room to raise tirz further. We only added reta after she had been stuck at the top clinical dose for months. The combination restarted her loss effectively.

I will wait until I reach 15 mg before deciding. Thanks for the details. Small world that you are near Turlock; we used to live close by and still visit family in the area sometimes.
