What dose is most effective for you?

Summary

What retatrutide doses work best for weight loss and how do responses vary by person?

Users report starting anywhere from 0.5 mg to 2 mg weekly and titrating up to 4-6 mg, with weight loss ranging from 1-2 lbs per week at lower doses to much faster results at higher ones. Many stay at 2-2.5 mg once they reach their goal or notice good appetite control, while others increase when progress stalls or they want more effect. Side effects like sleep disruption appear dose-dependent for some but not others. Individual sensitivity, starting weight, and goal percentage loss seem to drive the final effective dose more than body weight alone.

Curious what dose everyone ended up liking most. It seems to hit people really differently even in my own group, and none of us landed on the same amount despite similar sizes. I'm down to 175 from 197 with diet and hard cardio added in, and I just moved from 1 mg up to 1.5 mg because the lower amount was still working fine. No sides so far, probably thanks to keeping it low. Some folks are on crazy high weekly amounts though, how many are running over 4 mg?

Sorry I left that out earlier, just Reta at 1.5 mg. Waiting on my GHK to arrive so I can add that soon.

Started at 2 mg and worked up to 6 mg over about six months. Dropped 70 lbs and reached my goal, so I'm thinking about lowering the dose but I'm a bit nervous about it.

What's the goal, and are you male or female? Anyway, 2 mg every four weeks and 4 mg every four weeks both averaged about 2.5 lbs a week for me. Just did my second 6 mg shot last Friday and the scale didn't move. Happens sometimes. We'll see how it goes from here.

Up to 4 mg of reta once a week now. Wednesday will be the third week at that level. Started at 0.5 mg back on 1/5 and have been losing 1-2 lbs weekly. Still dealing with a lot of tiredness and appetite isn't suppressed much, so I'll stay at 4 mg for a while.

GreenPebble80archiveMar 31

Just finished the first vial after starting at 2 mg. Today I moved to 4 mg. Not feeling much yet but we'll see. No bad sides at 2 mg and it was my first time on a GLP.

Lost around 60 lb last year on 2.5 mg of tirz and never had to go higher. Took a break before finding this gray market scene and recently restarted at 1.25 mg every 7-8 days. I treat these peps as a tool and like to let hunger return a bit so I can tell real hunger from boredom. At this low dose I'm mostly using it for insulin control rather than total appetite shutdown. Did a cut and dropped 25 lbs without them early this year, then went into maintenance. Adding the 1.25 mg has led to another 5 lbs off without trying hard.

It probably depends a lot on how much you need to lose. If the target is more than 10-15% of body weight then higher doses will likely be needed at some point. To give a real answer I'd want age, height, and goal at minimum. You went from 197 to 175 so that's about 11% down already. Studies showed roughly 9% loss over a year at 1 mg weekly, but individual results and sides differ a lot. Sounds like 1 mg got you past that 9% mark and probably faster than a year, so you might be pretty responsive and not need big jumps. Still depends on whether you're aiming for 160 or 125. Also matters how hard it was to stick to the diet without extra help.

Checked the scale again this morning and down 2.5 lbs plus half a percent body fat since Friday. Pretty sure the earlier stall was water from the Liquid IVs I took for sodium. That also pushed my BP up. Had to pee a ton yesterday evening and got up five times during the night. Back to normal this morning.

LevelPebble75archiveMar 31

Worked up to 2.5 mg a week and stayed there, lost about 15 kg over four months.

Before I knew about this place and did my own reading, a friend on tirz lost a lot over a year. The cost made me ask a gym friend who told me about Reta. It came in a pen with instructions to start at 2.5 mg weekly and go to 4 mg after five weeks, which I followed. Got some rough sides with lots of gas and a strong metallic taste plus frequent bathroom trips. Appetite suppression kicked in and I've lost about 20 lbs in eight weeks. If I'd researched first I would have started lower at 0.5-1 mg and adjusted slowly, but now that it's working I'll stay at 4 mg and keep losing around 2 lbs a week. Once I hit the remaining 12 lb goal I'll try to find a maintenance dose. Main takeaway is start low, pick a weekly loss rate that fits your goal, and go from there. There will be ups, downs, and stalls, but for me this isn't only about the scale.

12 weeks in, been at 2 mg for the last four. Weight has been bouncing around the last few weeks even though diet and gym stayed the same. What I'd like to know from everyone is why I should increase. Already having trouble eating enough but still want to lose another 20-30 lbs with a focus on fat, not just the number. Started at 240 now 218 after 12 weeks, body fat from 31% down to 23.5% on the trend. Things are moving but the last few weeks have been mentally tough with the scale. Don't want to go up just because.

At the 12-week mark it's probably fluid shifts rather than actual weight loss stopping, especially since calories haven't changed and you're already struggling to eat. The early 5-15 lb fluid drop tends to partially come back. No reason to raise the dose if intake is low enough for loss and hunger isn't an issue. You might need a bit more later, but studies showed 1 mg gave 9% loss in a year and 2 mg should be a little stronger, though variation is huge. You're aiming for roughly 20-25% total loss so 2 mg may not be enough long term. Higher or max doses make sense with severe obesity or high health risks, but at lower doses reta can still work well for milder cases.

Been on it 10 weeks and doing fine at 2 mg with body fat still dropping. Planning to go to 2.5 mg in a week or two. Every time I raise the dose my sleep gets worse and I wake up at 4 or 5 am. Anyone else getting that?

LevelKettle69archiveApr 1

Yeah, the old forced early morning wake-up. How do you come out of sleep? For me it's a sudden jolt, no gradual waking. Usually around 3:30 am most days. Started having a yogurt before bed and that sorted it, now I sleep straight through.

I wake up suddenly and feel pretty wired. During the day the 5-6 hours of sleep catches up with me.

Thanks, that's a helpful take. From another thread and some reading it looks like I probably do need a small increase because other signs show adaptation. Mainly my resting heart rate has settled, so I'm not getting the full effect anymore. When I say I struggle to eat I mean I have to make myself eat or I reach bedtime with maybe 1000 calories. Once I started hitting a target every day my energy improved. Saw a small drop after that but still hovering in a 3-4 lb range week to week. Not chasing the max dose, just the highest effective one for me. Reta has been a game changer and I want to get the most out of it without going overboard.

Interesting, I'm on the other end. Takes forever to fall asleep and then I have zero interest in getting up. Used to be the early riser but not lately.

I've been waking at 4 am the past five days. Usually get up around 3:30 to pee and can't fall back asleep so I just get up. Retired so it's not a big deal. Also been struggling since the time change. Slept okay last night and got up at 5:45, which is more normal for me, between 5:30-6:30. Dose went to 6 mg two weeks ago but sleep issues haven't been a problem since I started reta.

Woke up around 5 am again today and couldn't get back to sleep either. Didn't think much of it until you all mentioned it yesterday. It's happened a few times now.
