Tirzepatide weight loss progress over several months

28 replies13 peopleFeb 25, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

what results can someone expect staying on low dose tirzepatide while adding walking, light lifting, and other compounds after an injury

One user tracked steady loss from 215 lb down to 183 lb over seven months, mostly holding at 2.5-4 mg tirzepatide weekly with occasional additions like reta, lipo injections, and NAD. Weight dropped about two pounds per week without needing dose increases once progress continued. Bloodwork improved across markers and the user reported better energy and body composition once able to resume resistance training. Others shared similar low-dose success and experiences with TRT alongside tirzepatide.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether TRT must be continued indefinitely once started or can be tapered off with proper protocol

Still open

long-term plan for cycling off tirzepatide or reta once goal weight is reached

Nothing here is advice.

I had never come across peptides until tirzepatide came up. I knew about Ozempic from the news and had a friend on Zepbound, but I thought those were pricey options mainly for people with diabetes or money to spare. Carrying an extra thirty pounds in my mid-forties, I had been juggling a demanding job with occasional exercise. Then injuries started happening during activities that used to be fine. A torn bicep from dips finally pushed me to look into Zepbound, and that led me down the research path. Since I did not qualify for the branded versions, I went through a telehealth service that charged a high amount for the prescription and the first bottle of tirzepatide.

No reason to raise the dose if the weight is still coming off. I dropped seventy pounds last year and stayed at five or six milligrams weekly. Keep going and ease back into resistance work when the injury allows. Protein emphasis plus lifting should help protect muscle.

PlainSparrow64archiveFeb 26

I agree with the comment above. Moving from 2.5 to 5 mg made everything too strong and I could not eat enough, so I dropped back to 3.75 mg. Only go up when it feels necessary rather than on a schedule.

This morning the scale showed 200.8 pounds, basically unchanged from last week. The overall trend is still downward at roughly two pounds per week, so I will wait another week before considering any dose change. I can see and feel the difference in my waist, face, and other areas even when the scale stays flat.

Are you only using tirzepatide right now?

PatientCompass47archiveFeb 26

Right now I am on three milligrams of tirzepatide weekly along with 175 mg testosterone, 600 mg glutathione weekly, and some vitamins including C, D, and K2. My plan is to bring body fat from the current 16-17 percent range down below 12 percent while holding onto muscle. I keep a 200-300 calorie deficit, lift four days a week, and do twenty-five minutes of zone-two cardio each morning.

Is it true that once you begin TRT you cannot come off it?

I am also running the wolverine blend for a few weeks along with Semax and Selank.

You can stop and your levels will eventually return to whatever they were before. If you were truly low and had symptoms, most people do not want to stop. My total T started at 225. I spent two years trying to raise it naturally with training, diet, and no alcohol, but it fell to 159 on the next test. Starting replacement changed everything for me. I got into solid shape, bloodwork normalized, came off blood-pressure medication, and saw cholesterol under 200 for the first time as an adult. I am also more even-tempered and a better husband and father. It has been a complete shift.

Looks like you are making solid progress.

SteadySignal41archiveFeb 27

Did you mention your goal weight? How tall are you? Seems like things are moving in the right direction.

I am five foot eleven and aiming for 190 pounds. Once I hit that I will check with my doctor to see whether going lower would still be healthy.

This thread has been useful because I am roughly the same height, weight, and age. How much exercise are you getting?

I walk two to three miles a day at least four days a week. I would really prefer to lift, but the torn bicep and shoulder injury keep me limited for the next few months.

No, it is possible to cycle off if you decide to. I have done TRT and have come off before. Slow taper plus adding hCG worked fine for me, and I have done this more than once.

I just took my seventh weekly shot at 2.5 mg. The first four weeks were at 2.1 mg from the initial provider, then I switched to 2.5 mg. Weight stayed roughly flat for a bit but measurements kept improving. I started at 211 pounds seven weeks ago and hit 198.6 this morning. New additions this week include lipo-c at 100 units three times a week, daily three-mile walks four days a week, and light upper- and lower-body resistance work a few days a week while the bicep and shoulder heal. Protein tracking has stayed consistent from the start.

Might be worth spending some time improving food choices. Every calorie counts more when intake is lower overall.

Update after nine weeks. Still at 2.5 mg weekly with no plans to increase because the current dose continues to work and I am losing about two pounds a week. This morning I weighed 195.5 pounds from a starting weight of 211. Exercise remains light walking one to two miles four times a week plus light weights and resistance work three times a week. Added lipo-B with B12 and NAD+ over the last two weeks and like how they feel with the tirzepatide. No negative side effects so far.

Nice progress. What changes have you noticed since adding the lipo-B and NAD?

NorthLantern91archiveMar 18

Lipo-C came as a red liquid and stings sharply for fifteen to twenty seconds. I split the 100-unit dose into two shots and do three sessions a week on a schedule that avoids the tirzepatide day. Energy feels higher for several days afterward and I sense extra fat loss, though some of that could be mental. Once the current supply is gone I probably will not reorder because it served its purpose as a kick-start. NAD+ is the buffered version so it does not sting. I specifically chose the pre-buffered form after some research.

Good to see results at 2.5 mg. I am on that plus one milligram of sema but might pause the sema for a while.

Fourteen weeks in. Started at 211 pounds and now at 190. Dose has been 3 mg weekly for the last four weeks. Next target is 180. Walking two miles four or five days a week and light lifting for an hour twice a week while injuries finish healing. Will post another picture at 180.

NorthLantern91archiveJun 21

Six months in. Current weight 187 pounds from a starting weight of 215. The sports injury has healed enough that I have added cardio and lifting four nights a week.

NorthLantern91archiveJul 17

Month seven and down to 186 pounds from 215. Cardio and weights for about forty-five minutes each, four times a week, for the past six weeks. Muscle definition is improving even if pictures do not show it fully. The remaining belly is still there but I am happy with the overall change given age and genetics.

NorthLantern91archiveAug 11

Seven months in at 183 pounds from 215. First bloodwork since starting came back yesterday and I will share the numbers soon. The physical changes feel bigger than the photos suggest. Full disclosure: I have been at 4 mg tirzepatide for nine weeks and added 2 mg reta weekly for the last four weeks. The original idea was to transition fully to reta, but the current combination feels good so I am staying here for now.

NorthLantern91archiveAug 12

Bloodwork results are back and everything looks good. A few examples from six months ago versus now show clear improvement across the board.

IronLantern24archiveAug 13

Wow, I did not realize girth and length were part of standard bloodwork.

LMAO. I was in a good mood from the results and could not resist a little joke.
