I handle mixing fine but still get unsure about how many ml of bac water to add for each peptide vial. A 500 mg NAD vial gets 3 ml, a 10 mg Reta vial gets 1 ml, yet 40 mg Reta or Tirzep vials throw me off. More bac water means more dilution, so less bac water should give higher concentration. What ml amount works for a 40 mg vial?

The usual approach is to add enough bac water so the final injection volume matches what you prefer to draw. Concentration has some practical upper limits though they are not strictly known. For GLP-1s I generally aim for 30 mg per ml.

Does that mean using 3 ml? I like keeping the bac water amount low. The whole thing still confuses me though, since I am not a scientist.

My method is to add just enough bac water so the needed dose always lands on an easy syringe marking such as 10 units or 20 units. That makes measuring straightforward. I follow this whenever the math allows it.

I treat 30 mg per ml as the usual ceiling for how strong I will make GLP-1 solutions. I also try to keep the actual shot volume at 0.3 ml or less so it fits the syringes I use most. For a 9 mg dose that works out to 0.3 ml. You figure concentration by dividing the mg dose by the ml volume you want. To find how much liquid to add, divide the vial strength in mg by that mg-per-ml figure, which for a 40 mg vial at 30 mg per ml gives 1.33 ml.

That clears things up, thanks. For a 2 mg dose from a 40 mg vial it looks like I would add 2 ml so the dose comes out to 1 unit on the syringe.

A 2 mg dose at 20 mg per ml equals 0.10 ml. I would almost never choose a 0.01 ml measurement on an insulin syringe.

Right now I am using a 56 mg fill reconstituted with 3 ml and drawing 4.3 mg which is 43 units.

The question was probably pointless. The numbers just looked odd to me even though the actual mix was fine.

It is better to stop focusing on concentration and instead pick a convenient total amount of bac water that will let future dose increases land on clean syringe marks. Very small volumes can increase measuring error at the syringe markings, while very large volumes are unnecessary. When stepping doses upward, plan the reconstitution so each increase matches the markings you will actually use. Skip ordinary calculators and learn the reverse type that tells you the odd bac-water volume required instead.

I am comfortable with most parts of the process but still new to handling my own and my wife's injections. The two sticking points for me with peptides are figuring doses and deciding how much bac water goes into each vial. I keep asking what amount of bac water is best yet answers stay vague. Do certain peptides work better with 10 ml versus 20 ml? I prefer to add as little bac water as possible and like when the dose lines up as 1 mg per 10 units on the syringe, though I have also used 2 mg per 10 units. The open question is when the bac water amount becomes too low or too high.
