FDA found hair in samples from major maker

7 replies8 peopleAug 23, 2025☆ Follow
Summary

Did a major drug company have hair contamination in its products and how does that compare to criticisms of compounding pharmacies?

Users found the FDA report ironic given the company's prior attacks on compounding pharmacies for safety problems. Several joked that the contamination came from official employees rather than unregulated sources and that it might weaken future legal cases. The thread treats the incident as evidence that official and grey-market products are not so different in quality.

This seems pretty ironic given how the big companies criticize compounding pharmacies for safety issues. Maybe brand name users should consider filtering their stuff too. 😆

As I've mentioned previously, there's not a huge distinction between official medications and the unregulated market.

The company keeps showing sympathy to people dealing with hair issues by offering returns as a goodwill gesture. 😆

A spokesperson said they take all observations seriously and started a full review of processes. Visual checks by their quality team found the supposed hairs were just rubber stopper bits so the vials are fine to use. No refunds though because the FDA skipped their preferred testing method.

It's funny how they always attack the grey market and compounding pharmacies for being unsafe yet end up with hair in their own product. This might end up as a counter example in court someday during lawsuits against the compounding pharmacies.

It's reassuring to learn that the hair for my peptides originated with a verified staff member rather than an arbitrary individual from China.
