Probably okay sitting around for quite a while. The maker recommends keeping it somewhere cool and out of the light without chilling it in the fridge, though a handful of the more knowledgeable users here push back on that and claim cooling works better, so whatever.

My sense is that durability depends on how frequently it's been accessed through needle holes. Having applied it just that one time leaves it in better condition than multiple piercings would. There are those who maintain a single container for months at a time.

I finish the whole thing before stopping. During this season I store it inside a cupboard located in the laundry area of the house. Being in southwest Florida means the garage space reaches around ninety-five degrees when the entrance is ajar. That's why the additional materials stay in that same cupboard.
