Question on filtering. My sister works as a nurse. We were chatting about peptides and I brought up all the talk here about using filters even though I have never used one. She said she does not use them and does not see a need. She explained they were meant to keep glass shards out when breaking open vials. She also wondered whether pushing the solution through a filter could damage the peptide the same way shaking is discouraged, and she added that the filters have nothing to do with sterilization. Is what she said outdated, incorrect, or still on point?

Medical staff rarely deal with research-grade peptides, so her take is understandable but limited. She is right that shaking can harm some peptides while others like tirz are tougher, which is why guides advise against it during mixing. Filters appear often in lab settings and come in many materials and pore sizes for different substances. For most peptides people here use a 0.22 µm PES filter, usually 13 mm or 4 mm diameter, because PES lets proteins through. Someone may still have that pore-size comparison graphic showing what gets caught and what does not.

From what you are saying, filters exist that target bacteria and with research peptides it makes sense to run the solution through one?

Syringe filters come in assorted sizes, pore ratings, and materials; none are made only for bacteria. Whether filtering is worthwhile is not simple. In theory the extra step should make the product safer, yet every extra action also raises the odds of something going wrong instead. That is just basic probability. When drawing into a pen or cartridges there is almost no reason to skip the filter. Here is the pore-size graphic that was mentioned earlier.
