Stacking Tirz + Reta. Any tips?

Summary

How do people dose and combine tirzepatide with retatrutide for continued weight loss and appetite control?

Users describe personal experiments after switching or adding the second peptide once progress slowed or energy dropped. Common approaches include lowering the tirzepatide dose by 1-2 mg while introducing 1-4 mg of retatrutide, splitting doses across the week, or adding a very small amount of cagrilintide instead. Several report improved energy or appetite suppression from the combination, while others note stable blood sugar or faster loss once retatrutide is increased. Most emphasize starting low with the new peptide and monitoring how they feel rather than following any fixed schedule.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some prefer staying on retatrutide alone or adding cagrilintide rather than stacking both tirzepatide and retatrutide; others see value in keeping a low dose of tirzepatide for its specific benefits.

Still open

Whether the combination remains effective long-term once higher doses are reached, and the safest way to transition to maintenance without regaining weight.

Nothing here is advice.

I'm thinking about combining the pair yet can't locate reliable intake guidelines. Anyone come across personal stories or study references?

LevelThistle44archiveMay 25

Having details on someone's current spot, their intended direction, any earlier GLP encounters, and the aims they're after would give me a solid basic set of facts to work from.

GreenMeadow54archiveMay 25

I've been taking Tirz for some time now and noticed my energy dropping, which prompted me to combine it with something else. I cut the Tirz amount by a milligram while adding a milligram of Reta. That combination feels just right. From my own trial, the two seem matched at equal strength, meaning one milligram lines up with one milligram. But this is only my single test, so don't rely on it too much.

I try not to request assistance without contributing effort myself, which explains why I kept things brief initially and avoided seeming dependent. Since details were requested though, here is a clear breakdown of my situation. I began with one medication last November through a major pharmacy, reaching a weekly dose of five milligrams by the third month before switching to another compound from alternative sources. The new option did not curb hunger as strongly as hoped, yet I maintained my routine and saw steady progress on the scale even without noticeable reactions. For context, I weighed around two hundred thirty pounds at the start and sit near one hundred ninety two now. The first medication brought me down to the low two hundreds while the second handled the remaining drop. I stopped the initial one at five milligrams and began the current compound at four, which went smoothly, and I have now reached eight milligrams with plans to hold steady until weight loss stalls. Adding the original medication back appeals because the strong reduction in hunger and constant thoughts about food felt ideal, making meals far less of a focus. I continue eating normally and drinking enough fluids. My target sits around one hundred sixty pounds as a twenty four year old male who stands five feet eight inches tall. I intend to add both aerobic exercise and lifting sessions soon. I welcome any input or differing views.

My starting body mass index was 35 and I've reduced it to 29 at present with a goal of 24 matching the situation described. Should progress on dropping pounds halt I raise the amount of this medication as long as unwanted effects stay manageable. Those effects have caused no trouble for me. I divide the amount every three and a half days a habit begun to stop hunger signals from returning near day five during prior use of the other compound. When thinking about adding that other one I keep the present medication unchanged and introduce one or two milligrams split across usual schedule times then check results. My level of this medication sits above standard. Hunger signals appetite or limits on meal size have stayed fine up to now. The ability to eat while sensing ordinary hunger levels suits me. If further support turns out necessary I remain unsure whether to add the other option or a different one despite having supplies of both and a preference for using only one compound. After several more months pass reaching the target should allow stepping down to a sustaining amount.

I went ahead and raised my dose on the Reta while leaving a small amount of tirz mixed in. That 2.5 to 5 milligram level looked acceptable because the prior dose was low, so lowering it didn't seem necessary unless other factors or side effects came into play.

SlowThistle88archiveMay 25
↳ replying to @IronLedger21

One thing I considered was including something else to get stronger hunger control so combining the other one would not be necessary.

GreyAlder39archiveMay 25

I picked up a glucose tracker after noting my vulnerability to low sugar levels. Three incidents occurred for me in the prior month. Ten milligrams weekly covers both substances at present. I intend to maintain this level ongoing. The glucose readings show greater consistency now. Losing weight picked up pace somewhat. Exhaustion comes over me but differs from the diabetic variety. Several days earlier I began the 5-amino-methylquinolinium and that reduces the tiredness.

BlueQuill49archiveMay 27

I'm jumping into this discussion because I'm in a similar spot with my own situation. I'm 47 and female, began at 235 pounds and now hold steady near 145. I began using the medication back in late 2023 and worked my way up to 15 mg weekly by mid-2024, then increased further to 20 mg weekly in early 2026. My progress on the scale leveled off roughly twelve months back and I was mostly fine with that given how far I'd come, yet the urge to eat has started returning and I've slipped into poorer choices lately. Another 10 to 15 pounds would be nice if possible. Raising the weekly amount to 20 mg gave a small boost, and switching last week to two separate 10 mg shots helped a little more. Still, I'm worried the compound may be reaching its limit for me and want to explore other options. A few months back I came across the research chemical route mainly to cut expenses after reflecting on all the cash spent over the past two and a half years, but digging into it has shown me different paths forward. One idea is moving over to a combination of the other two compounds. I figure I'd gradually replace the current one with the first new option and finish that change before introducing the second, though the right starting level remains unclear. Most accounts I've seen involve lower weekly amounts of the original medication. At my higher level, would even a modest 2 mg weekly dose of the replacement register at all? Might it make sense to test that amount for several weeks without changing anything else, or should the original dose come down right away? Has anyone else transitioned away from a high amount once results started fading? I'm open to any experiences or ideas on whether I'm approaching this the right way or overcomplicating it. Are there other compounds worth considering for someone just entering perimenopause? Thanks if you read all of this.

Seeing your drop from starting at that high number down to around one forty five shows a huge success of ninety pounds total. This proves the medication continues to deliver results rather than fading. It mainly prevents regaining rather than driving further reduction unless you begin adding pounds again. For me the biggest value lies in sustaining the lower weight long term since that protects health and daily life most. Without these medications metabolism slows after fat loss and hunger rises leading most to regain but these ones counteract the appetite surge and support metabolism allowing sustained results over several years in studies. Evidence does not indicate the body builds resistance to the slimming action over time. Moving into keeping the weight steady causes most regular approaches to fail yet these compounds make it more manageable though still challenging. Continuing with the current one or another to hold the reduction seems essential now. However expecting additional loss beyond what trials indicated as typical maximum around a quarter of body weight when your total exceeds that proportion might not happen. Trying a different compound could work as an option though I doubt standard amounts would outperform what you already handle well with the present one. At my stage after reaching fifteen units still feeling appetite I combined a smaller amount of another with it and later added a bit of a third. Changing over brings increased chance of unwanted reactions compared to remaining on the original but remains possible. Slowly introducing the third at low levels like a quarter unit and building up offers minimal change or pairing a modest dose of the alternative alongside. Pushing the current higher to twenty five units might help but returns could lessen at elevated levels. Combining the two newer ones might yield strongest effects yet likely more reactions than the first. In my view exceeding usual amounts or mixing them probably raises chances of side effects known or not but for cases of serious excess weight the dangers of regaining outweigh those.

GreenCompass18archiveMay 27

I began using tirz back in May of 2025. Then during September that same year, I incorporated Reta into my routine. My tirz amount stayed at 7.5mg while I gradually increased the Reta. Right now I'm taking 6mg of Reta, which I've been on since March, and I've lost a total of 100 pounds from last May when I weighed 259 down to 159. For the time being, I'm going to keep these amounts the same.

I'm grateful you explained it that way. By losing effectiveness I notice the numbers on the scale rising a bit, though not by a lot, and it takes extra effort to reverse that. My biggest fear is the pounds returning without any strategy to stop it. There's also the issue of already using a strong amount with limited options left to adjust. Staying here would be acceptable, yet the idea of gaining again bothers me. Long-term reliance on this kind of treatment never bothered me before, but I hadn't considered it might stop holding my weight steady one day. I'm still determined though. Boosting movement and doing more resistance exercises is what I intend, and I expect this treatment will provide the stamina needed for those changes. Appreciate the thoughts once more!

I don't often spot that pattern in study results when intake stays level each time. My first ideas center on collection methods, shifts in energy balance, and how steady the intake stays, though that last point seems least probable to me.

PatientSparrow76archiveMay 29

Right now I'm taking seven point five milligrams of Tirz every Friday along with two point five of Reta each Monday. That combination feels ideal for me at the moment. Eventually I plan on moving toward an even five and five split instead. The Tirz works fine on its own but the Reta seems to give me more pep overall. That's why I'm looking to adjust the amounts gradually and observe the results.

PatientHarbour23archiveMay 29

I'm the same age as you and also a woman. I've been switching between those two meds every three days, adding a small bit of the third one sometimes with one of them. My amounts aren't nearly as big as yours though. Before changing completely, I tried a very small quantity of that third med for several weeks first, along with the one I'm on now. I really mean very small. For instance, if mixing a certain vial with two milliliters of the water to get five milligrams per milliliter, I'd only take two units at most with my current dose to test toleranceβ€”I know that third med can really hit hard. That first med doesn't affect the hunger signals at all for me. Energy-wise, it feels similar to the other one: maybe some lift in the initial day after injection, followed by fatigue for a bit, then back to usual. Once reaching the target, it could allow lowering to a steady level of the current med without regaining, and then discontinue the third one. You've dropped ninety pounds already, with your body now settling around one forty five. The final portion of weight reduction is often the toughest and slowest since everything's shifted, including how your body processes things.

Grateful you described what happened for everyone. I'm certain I'll sample that one myself.

BrightCinder35archiveJun 11

I got up to 5mg tirz last week, so tomorrow marks my second shot at that dose. I started adding half a milligram of reta in the middle of the week, and after the usual fatigue the next day, I've noticed more pep and vitality. Even though that reta amount is tiny, it made a difference for me. Next week I'm thinking of bumping it up to 1mg but keeping the tirz steady at 5mg. We'll see how it goes. Been at this for six weeks now and dropped around 6kg, which isn't huge but it's progress. Tirz is starting to work better for me lately, yet the hunger control isn't where I hoped it would be.

GreenThistle20archiveJun 18

This discussion really helped. Considering adding reta to my current tirz regimen seemed tricky at first since I didn't know how to begin, but the various replies provided much food for thought. The idea of using cagri as an alternative to reta hadn't occurred to me previously.

I split my Reta portion together with the 2.0 tirz but keep four days between the two.

WryBramble37archiveJun 19

Is reta useless when taken solo in your case?

AmberSignal16archiveJun 20

Reta gets results yet the other one eases swelling and I really hate to give up that edge.

SlowThistle88archiveJun 20
↳ replying to @BlueQuill49

I always keep the calorie cut in mind and picture the whole effort like a creature with three heads made up of the peptide along with eating habits and workouts. Getting those elements aligned properly let me taper down on the peptide as I approached my target size. Steady persistence really matters and I know success is possible.

WryBramble37archiveJun 21
↳ replying to @AmberSignal16

Sounds curious. I don't recall coming across research or personal accounts suggesting that this one helps more with swelling. Could the GIP part be responsible for that effect? The other one also activates GIP receptors. I recall that the other one, through its glucagon action, basically clears out fat from the liver, and that fat buildup adds a lot to swelling.

CopperBeacon24archiveJun 21

I'm due for my upcoming Tirz intake today. Still unsure which direction to pick next. Stick at 10mg and feel satisfied? Pair the 10mg with half to one milligram of reta right now or sometime during the coming days? Bump the Tirz amount up to twelve point five milligrams? So many options to weigh.

AmberSignal16archiveJun 21
↳ replying to @SlowThistle88

My weight sits four pounds under the target right now. There's no tapering down from here at all. This effort will stay with me for the rest of my life.

QuietKettle56archiveJun 21

Stacking those two has given me quicker progress with losing weight. When I began taking reta I ran into an initial stall that went on for four weeks before I lost sixteen pounds. Raising my consumption of protein and fiber along with drinking lots of water and tea really made an impact.

SlowThistle88archiveJun 21
↳ replying to @AmberSignal16

Yeah, I can relate to that feeling. So far I've dropped forty pounds, though another forty five still stand between me and my goal. I've built up a solid reserve of items along with a reliable fitness and meal strategy. It's great to share this space with folks who think alike.

I've made up my mind about it. Still unsure on the exact timing or the amount though. Maybe Wednesday works since I had the 10mg tirz the day before along with either half a milligram or a full one of reta. My weight keeps dropping even though I'm taking in 2900 calories daily with over 200 grams of protein while doing weight training five days each week.

NorthSparrow39archiveJun 22

CopperBeacon24archiveJun 22
↳ replying to @NorthSparrow39

Got it, that approach works for some. Starting at 2mg feels excessive to me given I'm already on 10mg tirz too. Perhaps I'll administer one after finishing my shift to initiate the process.

BlueSparrow34archiveJun 22

I've used one compound for roughly four months now, dropping around a pound and a half each week on average. It's gradual yet seems reasonable for health. Then I began incorporating a second one hoping to speed up the scale movement, and overall that has worked out okay. This is the schedule I've been following I suppose. First two weeks at one milligram for getting used to it initially. Next four weeks at two milligrams to begin the real dosing after awareness. Following that, four milligrams for weeks seven through ten. After that, bump up by two milligrams each month until reaching a stable level.

GreenWillow85archiveJun 22

Previously I shed around thirty kilograms using the official version prior to costs rising. After pausing for several months I switched to an alternative source of the same compound and gradually increased the dose until reaching fifteen milligrams. However that produced no results whatsoever therefore I introduced the other compound seven days earlier. My intake was ten milligrams of the first along with two of the second. Merely seven days have passed yet my appetite has vanished completely along with any thoughts about eating. I certainly notice being much less heavy now probably because excess fluid was an issue which the new addition resolved. Already one kilogram has come off marking the initial progress in half a year making me pleased. Absolutely no unwanted reactions occurred leading me to intend gradually reducing the original to five milligrams while raising the newer one only if required.

AmberSignal16archiveJun 22
↳ replying to @CopperBeacon24

I administer around the middle of the week. I kick off with Reta at roughly half and assess how it goes for me. In time I cut the tirz back. My mix is two point five tirz plus six Reta.
