Reta Week 2

Summary

How soon do appetite suppression and fat loss appear on low-dose retatrutide, and can you build muscle while cutting body fat?

Users report mild or delayed appetite effects at 1.5-2 mg, with stronger suppression and metabolic changes usually appearing once doses reach 6-8 mg. Several note visible water-weight drops early and continued fat loss after titrating higher, while one person gained muscle on TRT plus HGH alongside the peptide. Titration schedules from trials are recommended over staying low, and protein intake plus lifting are emphasized for body-composition goals.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

How strong retatrutide's appetite suppression is compared with other GLPs and at what dose it reliably appears.

Still open

Whether meaningful shoulder muscle gains can occur in an 800-calorie deficit without additional compounds.

Nothing here is advice.

Appetite control isn't nearly as strong as some claim. A clear drop in water weight shows up first thing in the morning. Started at 1.5 mg the first week, repeated that amount today, and plan to keep the same amount until week 5 before doubling. Results are said to take a month to show, but how do you actually recognize when they're happening? Also wondering if lean shoulder muscle can be added in the gym while lowering overall body-fat percentage.

BlueCompass33archiveDec 6, 2025

Just to clarify, the amount being used is below the lowest dose tested in the clinical trials, so quick or dramatic changes aren't likely.

LevelCompass91archiveDec 6, 2025

It depends whether this is the first weight-loss peptide tried. First-timers often notice changes at lower amounts, while others may need to reach around 8 mg. Started at 1 mg for two weeks due to heart-rate concerns from sema, then followed the trial schedule of increasing 2 mg every four weeks. Effects were felt at 6 mg, but 8 mg is where the weight really came off. Following the trial schedule is probably smarter since the researchers already worked out the best approach.

Appetite control helps but food intake still needs tracking. Building shoulder muscle requires consistent work in the gym plus higher protein. Choosing the right lifts and focusing on a good stretch during the lowering part of each rep makes the time spent more effective.

Just on this compound or anything else? Training and protein intake will help the most. Had an athletic build earlier and trained off and on before getting serious again. Down 44 lbs since early September. Was already on TRT for three years without training. Started at 500 mcg every other day and now at 4 mg twice a week. It worked well. Male, 45, started at 255, now 211, body fat 15.6 %. No starting body-fat reading, but it was probably low twenties. Most recent accurate reading was 232.9 lbs at 17.7 % on October 12.

From personal experience the appetite effect can be fairly mild. This is the only GLP used so far, so direct comparison isn't possible, but reports suggest this one has the weakest appetite impact. Individual results differ. At the current low dose not much suppression is expected anyway. Started at 2 mg then moved to 4 mg fairly quickly and noticed more effect there. Six months later now at 10 mg weekly. Once in the 6-8 mg range the faster metabolism and greater calorie burn also become noticeable.

Only this compound right now. Planning to start the glow stack on Monday and possibly add diuretics in a week to reduce facial bloat. Height is 6 foot ½ inch, weight 177-180 lbs, body fat around 21 %. Three-mile time is about 23 minutes. Protein intake estimated at 130-150 g daily, mostly from three 25 g scoops dry-scooped plus meat and fats with minimal carbs. Current lifting numbers are in the attached image.

Yes, this is the first GLP cycle.

Thanks. Is it possible to add muscle while body fat is dropping? Not sure about going that high because health is currently good as a younger adult.

Yes, muscle has been added. Also on TRT and HGH, which helps.

NorthLantern66archiveDec 7, 2025

Able to gain muscle without any extras while losing up to a kilo per week by following a specific weekly pattern: day 1 fasting plus endurance work, day 2 either fast or eat depending on how it feels with 36-48 hour fasts attempted, day 3 back to normal eating focused on protein, day 4 running, day 5 strength work, day 6 rest with higher protein, day 7 heaviest strength session plus lots of food especially protein, then repeat.

AmberMarble84archiveDec 7, 2025

Response is very individual. Only at 1.5 mg which is still low. For appetite, the effect started around 6 mg for me; now at 8 mg it feels comparable to tirzepatide.

SlowQuill36archiveDec 8, 2025

Took ritalin XR the last two days for finals and noticed appetite suppression from that. Not on any cycle of roids at the moment, so curious whether an 800-calorie deficit can still produce visible shoulder gains while overall body fat drops.

Curious how many IU of HGH are being run with the TRT. Also planning to start TRT next year and interested in HGH for anti-aging purposes.

Ramped from 2 IU up to 4 IU and staying there long term. Get a baseline IGF-1 before starting. A full CMP and A1C are also useful and will usually be tested anyway before TRT at a clinic. Recheck IGF-1 four to six weeks after reaching the chosen dose. A CGM or other blood-glucose monitor is worth having. Current protocol is 160 mg TRT weekly, 4 mg of this compound twice weekly, and 4 IU HGH two to three hours after the last meal each night.

Thanks for the reply. Planning 145 mg TRT per week and 2 IU HGH at bedtime. Will get IGF-1 and other blood work first then decide. Appreciate the info.

SlowQuill36archiveDec 10, 2025

Doubled the dose today and injected 2.9 mg. Felt slight sides before bed but woke up with none. Starting to wonder if the product is genuine, though some weight has come off (6'1, 175.5 lbs). Body-fat reduction probably won't show until week 12 anyway.
