Does your rs heartrate keep rising with higher doses? or does it settle?

Summary

does resting heart rate keep rising with higher retatrutide doses or level off

Users report varied patterns: some see an initial rise that plateaus or partially reverses, others note steady elevation that persists or increases with dose. A few experience no noticeable change or quick stabilization even at higher amounts. Sleep disruption and overall stress readings on wearables are mentioned alongside the heart rate shifts.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether the elevation is transient and improves with time or dose versus remaining persistently higher

Still open

long-term cardiovascular impact or whether improved fitness will eventually lower the rate again

Nothing here is advice.

I'm combining reta at 1.5 mg a week split into two doses with tirz at 3.5 mg and thinking about going higher, but my heart rate is already up. From your experience does it keep climbing or settle down?

SlowKettle22archiveOct 17, 2025

It rose quickly for me on both and then stayed exactly there. Almost a year on reta now and my resting rate has never come back down.

PlainSignal69archiveOct 17, 2025

My resting rate climbed from 55 to 70 in the first two weeks on reta then eased back to 64. I haven't seen any further shift when increasing the dose, at least not from 1 mg to 1.5 mg.

AmberMarble84archiveOct 17, 2025

It went up at the start, then dropped, then rose again on and off. Now at 5 mg it's no worse than when I began at 1 mg.

My heart rate is always all over the place so I can't really tell if the stack is making it worse. Even combining survo and tirz heavily I just get some pumps but keep going as usual.

SlowKettle51archiveOct 17, 2025

I can never get very far into those videos. The tough-guy act doesn't work for me.

NorthSparrow42archiveOct 17, 2025

My resting rate sat right around 50 bpm for the two years before starting reta in mid-June. It looks like it has leveled off now.

Yeah not very appealing to me either, though I appreciate the intent to help.

GreenPebble53archiveOct 18, 2025

With past clen use I didn't notice any heart-rate increase from reta at all. It feels completely normal.

Yeah it gets old fast, same routine every time. He talks for five minutes then challenges anyone who disagrees to leave. He might know his stuff but comes across as annoying and maybe a bit off. Keeps saying how much he loves his wife.

I end up reading the comments more than listening because he attacks anyone who disagrees. Always a long video with maybe thirty seconds of useful info buried somewhere. He goes on about knowing more than everyone else.

NorthQuill17archiveOct 19, 2025

On 3.5 mg of reta it rose at first but has returned to a resting rate of 57-59.

LevelPebble57archiveOct 23, 2025

I had a low resting rate around 45 bpm before reta. It went up steadily after starting, stayed around 50 for a while, then climbed further with each dose increase and now sits around 55 on a maintenance dose.

I normally sit at 66 bpm. After two months on retatrutide it has climbed to 80 bpm resting. I'm active and train at the gym four or five times a week, so this side effect needs attention. Sleep is also broken, waking almost every hour.

NorthMeadow64archiveOct 26, 2025

It was 70-80 before 1.75 mg reta, now more like 80-90 while also on glow. Will check again next week after moving to 3.5 mg.

NorthCinder83archiveOct 26, 2025

If you have any known heart condition talk to a specialist. Normal resting range is listed as 60-100 bpm. Mine rose about 5 bpm to 75-80 after adding reta at 3.5 mg while still on tirz at 18 mg, with no sudden jump. I'd look into it more if it goes above 90. Could be the reta or too many other things stacked. Not everyone responds the same to these compounds and there's no medical oversight with grey sources.

BrightWillow90archiveOct 26, 2025

I've been on reta for about 14 months now at 12 mg. My resting rate went up by 10 bpm but has returned to normal over time. I started with afib and was worried, but it didn't seem to affect that. After losing 50 lb or so the afib events stopped, though I still get the occasional palpitation.

Not that I know of. Several friends have had sudden events like strokes and heart attacks recently, so it worries me.

KeenBramble97archiveOct 26, 2025

I keep telling myself better cardio fitness will bring the resting rate back down, but that hasn't happened yet.

I tried to stick with it but after a few minutes it just sounds like the usual thing to me, so I gave up and decided I'm not taking it anyway.

SharpSparrow51archiveOct 28, 2025

This is the exact issue I'm facing right now. I lost over 20 kg on 1.25 mg sema before but regained it. Tried reta and titrated to 6 mg, still have food noise and only mild appetite suppression without much weight loss. Main worries are heart rate and sleep, waking every hour. My garmin shows chronic stress, I only get 5.5-6 hours, and I've had an eczema flare around my eyes that usually comes with stress. Decided to stop reta and go back to sema for now.

I don't think the higher resting rate is necessarily a big negative side effect. It might be one of the ways reta burns fat by keeping the heart working a little harder. Just a guess though.

I took 100 mg long-release tramadol before bed and woke with 70 bpm. Took another 200 mg and went for a tattoo, rate around 80 during the day. This morning after it wore off it was 80, now 90 sitting at the computer. I can literally feel warmth or pulsing in my chest. Moving to 3.5 mg on Friday will be interesting.

AmberMarble84archiveOct 29, 2025

Now at 7 mg a week and my resting rate has settled again. Some days maybe 5 higher than before reta.

AmberMarble84archiveOct 29, 2025
↳ replying to @NorthMeadow64

But if you're taking it for pain then your resting rate will probably be a bit higher once it wears off because of the pain.

NorthMeadow64archiveOct 29, 2025

I took it for tattoo pain but it lowered the rate as well, now it's back up 10 beats.

AmberMarble84archiveOct 29, 2025
↳ replying to @NorthMeadow64

My resting rate was 5-10 or more higher on the lower doses under 5 mg, but now at 7 mg it seems better. Maybe like other sides it improves once you adjust to the medicine. Was the tattoo nice though?

NorthMeadow64archiveOct 29, 2025

No it was on the neck and couldn't finish in six hours.

NorthMeadow64archiveOct 30, 2025

Yeah, day 6 after the reta shot I woke at 65 bpm and now 75 at the computer. It fades after about five days, same as the tirz 16 mg I'm also on. Hopefully improves with more dose.

PatientLantern66archiveNov 2, 2025

My rate jumped 15-20 bpm and stays elevated around 75-85 resting. Five weeks, going from 2 mg to 4 mg. A few grams of taurine morning and night plus electrolytes seem to help a bit since I'm on keto, but I think the elevation is real.

NorthMeadow64archiveNov 8, 2025

It's back down to 70-80 bpm now. I also switched to carnivore from high-carb low-fat. Will see what happens when I go back to high carb and raise the dose to 5.25 mg. It calmed faster than the 24 weeks mentioned in trials.

WarmQuill37archiveNov 8, 2025

This guy really gets on my nerves. His stories about visiting amusement parks don't interest me at all. Should he mention anything about a faster pulse, point out the timestamp in that clip so I can jump there if there's any actual insight.

Just wondering, do you see a cardiologist? My resting rate dropped into the 40s and I was diagnosed with bradycardia with av block. First cardiologist visit sent me straight to the ER and I ended up with a pacemaker after testing.

That kind of overly grave delivery from podcast hosts who act like they're handing out wisdom always turns me off right away. My focus just dies and I get this immediate urge to bolt from the room.
