Week 1 Review: GHK-CU

11 replies7 peopleAug 6, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

How does a young person experience the first week of GHK-Cu injections for hair concerns, and do age or delivery method change the expected results?

A 21-year-old user logged daily injection-site reactions, possible early shedding, and skin changes while alternating abdominal and glute sites. Older participants stressed that natural collagen production at that age limits systemic benefits and recommended topical scalp use instead. Several suggested AHK-Cu as a hair-focused alternative and noted that diet, sleep, and exercise outperform peptides for someone young. The original poster plans to continue but will avoid certain other drugs due to future family plans.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether GHK-Cu offers meaningful hair or skin benefits to a healthy 21-year-old versus someone older whose natural production has declined.

Still open

Whether continuing the protocol will actually slow the reported hair thinning or if site reactions will persist.

Nothing here is advice.

Back for the first weekly check-in on my GHK-Cu use. I want to be straightforward about what actually happened. On day one I injected before sleep a couple inches from the navel; the shot stung sharply, felt odd, left a visible spot, and gave a weird sensation as though something was traveling inside, though that was probably just in my head. The next day the spot itched and stung a little, and while washing I saw some extra hair fall out, but that has happened before so I’m calling it unrelated. I switched to the upper glute on the left side and felt nothing at all, yet the right side still hurt, so I’ll probably stay on the left. By day three I started getting noticeable breakouts.

I’ll be watching how this goes. Thinking about trying it myself but the details so far make me a bit hesitant.

At 21 your body is still making plenty of collagen on its own, so the changes older users notice probably won’t show up for you.

Hair growth and density are the main reasons I’m doing this; clearer skin would just be a bonus.

I’m not convinced the same systemic effects will appear unless something is already off with how your body handles repair at your age. If hair is the priority, applying it directly to the scalp would make more sense than injecting under the skin.

She’s right; the difference between 21 and my age is huge in terms of skin elasticity and natural growth-hormone levels. Still, it probably won’t hurt unless you react badly, so keep sharing what happens.

You could check out AHK-Cu instead; it’s nearly identical except the glycine is swapped for alanine and some people report better results for hair. Not much is known about injecting it, so a topical version might be safer. For typical male-pattern thinning the combo of oral minoxidil and dutasteride works well together by improving blood flow and lowering DHT, though dutasteride can have rough side effects and some choose finasteride to reduce that risk.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I want kids later so I’ll skip those medications. I’ll look into AHK-Cu even though I’m unsure how much difference it will make. I’m already seeing thinning that could turn into noticeable loss in the next several years and have read accounts of younger guys using GHK-Cu to slow it down.

Anything beyond the injection site itself is probably unrelated to the peptide. At 21 most peptides won’t produce big changes because they target age-related drops that haven’t happened yet. Solid food, sleep, and training will beat them every time.

No worries. I just saw another thread where people are sharing recipes for copper-peptide hair serums.

I agree a serum could be the better route here. She knows her stuff.

Thanks, that’s funny. I just end up reading anything that catches my interest even a little. The sterility thread didn’t hold me for long, but I enjoy seeing others dig into it because I’m usually just mixing vials in the kitchen with the dog and a ten-year-old around. Being around horses means you get used to cleaning stalls while eating.
