Sudden sweating?

11 replies5 peopleOct 16, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Can reta trigger sudden sweating after a bite of sweets or alcohol?

Users describe sudden heavy sweating right after a single sweet bite or wine, always on injection day or the day after. The effect is tied to the fresh dose plus a sugar or alcohol spike rather than heat or exercise. Several note it overlaps with perimenopause symptoms but resolves once the timing is recognized. One long-term user reports far fewer such reactions.

Whether the sweating is purely from reta, hormones, or their combination

After finishing a bike ride my partner stopped for a frozen treat. I took just one small taste of the extremely sweet item and within a minute began sweating heavily even though I felt no heat. It made me wonder if the sudden sugar load was the cause, since nothing like that had ever happened from a single bite before. Has anyone else noticed this kind of reaction to sweets while on reta?

Did the wine cause the same thing last month? This sounds like the same pattern. Since starting a low dose of reta I notice that any alcohol raises my heart rate and makes me sweat. We walked, stopped for a bite and a glass of wine, and twenty minutes later my resting heart rate was up and I was sweating.

Thinking back, I did get sudden sweats at a game a few weeks ago. Alcohol can trigger a hot flash from menopause-related changes, but ice cream?

Wait, that game incident was not the one I was thinking of. Is reta bringing hot flashes back?

Did you take your shot that day or the day before? I sweat heavily overnight after pinning, though hormones could also be involved.

Now that my memory is refreshed, the sweating always happens on the day of the shot or the day after. It is probably the new dose meeting a sudden sugar spike.

You have had more side effects in a few weeks than I have had in nine months.

The sweating issue now seems tied only to shot day or the next day. I am not complaining, just wondering if I am unusually sensitive. I have never taken any medication besides over-the-counter or short-term illness treatments, and a prior scare made me extra watchful.

I would like to nominate the person who remembered the earlier incident as moderator of the month.

Lucky you do not get to go from feeling fine to soaking wet in seconds. The medication affects hormones, so I wonder if more women in perimenopause or post-menopause notice the same thing.

I do not deal with it myself, but I saw my current wife go through that phase.
