Summary

how to handle temporary anhedonia and low motivation right after tirzepatide shots

Users report a consistent pattern of feeling mentally and physically slowed for 24-48 hours after each injection, with symptoms easing by day three. Several describe trying different compounds or habits to offset the flatness while noting that anxiety often improves during those same days. Experiences vary with dose size and individual response, and some have stopped the medication entirely because of it.

My lack of pleasure isn't severe enough to stop the shots, but right after injecting I feel like every action happens in waist-deep mud. Starting or keeping up with anything optional becomes very difficult. Improvement shows up on day three and the feeling disappears by day four. Has anyone come across quick fixes for those first couple of days, maybe something that creates artificial drive?

I'm interested too. Raising my dose left me feeling blah for the next two days.

I'm really curious whether anything can be done because I don't completely dislike the effect. On those two days my anxiety drops and I stay deeply unbothered by things that normally bother me. Still, it would help to stay somewhat productive during them.

I don't usually deal with anxiety. My baseline is more like wired but tired. After the shot, though, I get restless legs and noticeably lower energy. I keep up with hydration, macros, and my plan, yet I still move and think in a more lethargic, sloth-like way for those two days.

Right now I'm using a small amount of Semax the day after the shot or whenever needed, and it helps. I've also had success with bromantane placed under the tongue after dissolving it in MCT C8 oil.

My workaround is marijuana, which is already part of my regular stack. I use one pre-roll per day, split into two sessions.

I stopped GLP medications because of this issue. Avoid reta or semaglutide, since they tend to make anhedonia worse for a known biological reason involving GIP. Increase doses very slowly and cautiously. Semax helped me. I already take modafinil, which can make a big difference if you're new to it. Routes like L-tyrosine only produced anxiety for me.

SS-31 at 4 mg has helped me, and so have ketone drinks.

I've lived with depression for years, so the only reliable approach I've found is building habits that keep me moving forward anyway. Begin with one small task, then another, and momentum eventually develops.

I'm feeling the same thing. After showers I crash and it takes hours to recover. I ordered NAD+ to see whether it helps.

When I raised my dose from 2.5 mg to 5 mg I noticed the same effect. After several weeks my body adjusted and it improved. Smaller step-ups or splitting the dose across two days each week may reduce the impact.

I take 5-HTP. I've managed anhedonia and depression since my teens and used it before for mood. When the flat, disinterested feeling started after beginning tirzepatide, I restarted it and believe it helps.

I hadn't thought of that for some reason, even though I already have some on hand. Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to try it myself.
