What Appetite Suppression on Retatrutide Actually Feels Like For Me

12 replies8 peopleMay 24, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

What does appetite suppression actually feel like on retatrutide for different people?

Users report varied effects: some experience mainly quicker fullness leading to smaller portions while still enjoying food and feeling food noise, others note reduced mental hunger or forgetting to eat when distracted, and a few see strong suppression at higher doses. Experiences differ by dose and individual tolerance, with some needing to split doses or titrate carefully to maintain protein intake. Despite reports of weaker suppression than tirzepatide, participants note greater overall weight loss possibly tied to glucagon activity.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether appetite suppression strengthens steadily with dose increases or can fade at a given dose over weeks, and whether low-dose effects are mainly mental distraction versus physical fullness.

How individual tolerance and prior tirzepatide use influence the pattern of suppression across doses.

Nothing here is advice.

Been on retatrutide roughly ten weeks, moving from one milligram up to four. Started at two hundred twenty six pounds and now sit near two twelve, with the drop becoming noticeable once I reached two milligrams. Of the common descriptions, only getting full sooner matches my experience. Thoughts about meals and snacks continue as before, and eating still brings real satisfaction. Beer remains enjoyable too. Cravings ease mainly because fullness arrives earlier, so I stop at smaller amounts while staying connected to food. That quicker fullness works well since I still want to enjoy meals.

I agree that quicker fullness is the main change for me as well, even at a low dose near one gram. Cravings drop too, and while I still have chocolate or similar items the reward fades sooner. One side result of stopping earlier is paying closer attention to food choices, which can make it slightly simpler to pick better options.

This past weekend it hit me how much my eating patterns have shifted since starting reta. We always grill on warm weather holidays and I used to look forward to everything on the table. This time I felt indifferent, had just a hamburger and some macaroni salad, and felt stuffed. Normally I would already be into leftovers like a hot dog or brat with sides, but nothing appealed. I decided to grill chicken breast for next week to keep protein up because I notice I feel better with that fuel.

Same here. Now I stop after one or two cookies instead of six.

A bit envious of people who began directly on reta. On the appetite side it feels like you do not realize what you are missing until you try it. I am considering adding reta while on fifteen milligrams of tirzepatide. The trials stand out because even with apparently weaker appetite effects than tirzepatide, participants still lost more weight, pointing to the glucagon component.

Only at one milligram so far, and my experience runs the other way. Any distraction from work, the gym, or gaming makes me simply skip eating. Before reta I would watch the clock for the next meal and my stomach would react the moment food came to mind. I have not noticed faster fullness yet. Intake drops because most of the day passes without eating and the meals I do recall cannot hold much volume.

Very close to my own situation. Cooked for fifteen people on mothersday with ribs, mac salad, kielbasa and two cakes. I took one medium plate and felt too full to eat anything else the rest of the night. The beers probably added to it, but normally I would have gone back for two or three plates.

I have seen plenty of accounts that differ from mine. One milligram produced no clear change for me and I actually ate more during the first two weeks. I tend to have higher tolerance for many substances. Reports suggest many people need higher doses before appetite effects appear, which is why I wanted to describe what I felt so others would not be put off from trying reta. It has worked very well for me.

Appetite reduction and the sense of fullness feel quite strong at the current eight milligram dose. It might even be a little too much, but I will keep watching.

I suspected suppression would increase at higher amounts. Did you notice it build as you raised the dose, or did you increase because the effect had started to fade after staying at one level for a while?

Similar situation here. At five milligrams, and since reaching four I feel full after very small amounts, like finishing a small sandwich and stopping. Food noise reduction started already at half a milligram. That reduction does not remove physical hunger signals though. I can still sense hunger and react to food smells, but mental thoughts about the next meal drop a lot. I simply eat when physical hunger appears. From four milligrams onward the main change is getting full very quickly and feeling quite nauseated if I push past it, so I keep portions deliberately small.

It eased off during the last four weeks or so. It feels similar to when I first began at two milligrams.

True for the most part, though at two milligrams once a week I could not even look at food without it feeling like staring at a rock. After splitting that two milligram dose I now get the quicker fullness you described. That version works better for me because I still need to hit protein targets and the single dose made it impossible. Doses clearly affect people in different ways. The Eli Lilly study also showed that a four milligram maintenance dose produced solid long term results with around twenty percent weight loss. I prefer the lowest effective amount for myself, so that is likely where I will settle as I increase. Good luck!
