Longevity of pep and bac water

28 replies13 peopleJun 10, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

how long does reconstituted retatrutide last in the fridge and how long can bacteriostatic water be stored

Users report storing reconstituted vials in the fridge and continuing use past 28 days as long as the solution stays clear with no visible changes. Several people describe finishing vials after 6-8 weeks with no noticeable loss in effect, while others set a personal limit around 60 days before degradation risk increases. Bac water storage opinions split between fridge and room temperature, with most discarding after 1-3 months once opened. No one provides definitive lab data, only personal experience and visual checks.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Hey everyone. I’m on week 3 of reta and wondering how long a vial stays good once mixed and kept in the fridge. Some say 4-6 weeks while others say just finish it. I’m planning to use mine until it’s gone unless it gets cloudy or looks off. I’ve also seen claims that it loses strength after 28 days. I started with a 10 mg vial which turned out bigger than needed for month one. For the bac water I’ve read the same 28-day limit and seen people split on fridge versus room temp. Mine has been in the fridge with 9 ml left, which will probably last a few months at my rate. Storage is my main worry because answers vary so much.

There isn’t going to be one clear answer. You’ll mostly hear opinions and personal stories that have some facts behind them. There just isn’t enough research to settle it either way. I know that might not be what you want to hear.

For my first run with reta I started with a 15 mg vial mixed with 1.5 ml of bac water and it lasted two months. It still felt effective as I raised the dose and the effects matched what I expected. When I opened a fresh vial the results were similar at the same dose. How well it holds up really depends on storage, how you draw doses, and what you mix it with.

I’ve actually read quite a bit, which is why I came here to ask people I trust more than quick online answers. No need to be rude about it. Isn’t helping each other the point of this forum?

Yeah that’s basically what I was going to do anyway. Just finish the vial unless it clouds up or changes. Thanks!

You’ll get lots of different answers. For me eight weeks is the longest I go and I’ve never had a problem. I’m sure it can last longer but I haven’t needed to. The amounts I get now usually run out in four weeks so it stays simple.

If you already know the 28-day mark is the common answer from Reddit, what are you hoping to learn by asking the same question here? It might be more useful to look into where that 28-day number actually comes from and whether the reasons make sense.

It comes down to what you feel okay with. Always wipe everything with alcohol, keep it in the fridge away from light, and don’t leave it out long. How many milligrams did you mix? Did you figure out roughly how many weeks that amount will last at your dose?

Hi! I always clean the vial with alcohol before each use. I mixed 10 mg with 1 ml of bac water. For the first month I’m doing 1 mg, which leaves 6 mg. Then I plan to go to 1.5 mg, so the vial should last about two months total. The only thing is I don’t keep the vial in a dark spot inside the fridge. Is that a problem?

You’re on the right track. It’s generally fine to go past 28 days with mixed peptide as long as nothing looks off in the vial. Most peptides hold their strength for at least 60 days and often longer according to available charts. For bac water it’s really personal preference and how much risk you’re willing to take. The 28-day room-temp rule seems to come from general guidelines that don’t specifically cover this use. I’m currently using reconstituted peptides that are 90 days old and bac water that’s three months old. You just decide what feels reasonable.

You said it’s in the fridge. That’s good, and it’s usually dark in there anyway. Put it in an opaque container and it should be fine. Just avoid leaving it on the counter in sunlight for hours.

PlainAlder11archiveJun 10

I use the same bac water until it’s gone and have gone eight weeks with reconstituted without trouble. Some folks just jump in without reading the thread.

When the fridge door is shut it’s dark, so keeping it inside should be okay. I’d still put the vial inside something else to protect it. I use a pen cartridge so I’m not introducing air or drawing repeatedly, which makes me comfortable going longer. Once you raise the dose you’ll probably finish it faster.

That's great. I'd also like the origin so I could download the picture together with everything.

Yeah exactly, if you read the thread you’d see people also say to toss bac water after a month. That’s why I’m asking.

So I guess sticking with my method is the way 😅 Do you keep the bac water in a normal temperature room?

Based on the replies I think I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing: bac water in the fridge and using the reta until it’s gone or looks cloudy, same for the bac water. I might let the bac water sit out a bit before mixing though, since I’ve read cold bac water can sometimes make the peptide cloudy.

AmberTimber37archiveJun 10

One data point: I ordered a single 10 mg vial and some 30 mg vials since both my partner and I planned to share. She stopped and when the first vial ran out I moved to the larger ones while still at 3 mg per week. Side effects stayed consistent through the end of the vial, which was two months old by then. I raised the weekly dose by 1 mg each month and had to drop back once at 5 mg because of sides.

Mind sharing some sort of web address or whatever?

I keep unopened bac water at room temperature, but once I start using a bottle I move it to the fridge in the same opaque container with my other supplies. With the amount I’m using now a bottle doesn’t last much past 60 days anyway. I’d probably be comfortable up to four months. Keep good sterile habits and keep reading here, there’s always more to learn.

Yeah okay. You’re right, I have no idea. You’re on the ignore list.

You ought to settle down a little during that process too.

That chart's first version got removed entirely. The team responsible for gathering the info asked to have it taken down. All the information is still around, though it's restricted to their own discussion area, so membership is required for viewing.

Some peptides break down faster than others. PT-141, kisspeptin, and maybe tesamorelin seem to be in the two-to-three-week range after mixing. KPV looks like it stays stable even at 40-50 days in the fridge. My rule is unless it looks wrong or it’s a week short of two months old, I go ahead and use it.
