Moved to 10mg

Summary

why am I hungry again after moving up to 10 mg tirzepatide and what can I try next

The original poster has lost 63 lb over 41 weeks on a slow dose schedule but reports strong hunger only days into 10 mg. Several users note that four days is too soon to judge because levels keep rising for weeks. Suggestions include changing injection site, shortening the interval between doses, or adding a second agent such as cagrilintide, while others advise waiting a full month or moving to 12.5 mg if insurance allows.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some participants believe four days is enough to know the dose is insufficient and recommend stacking or moving up immediately, while others insist a full month is required before judging or changing anything.

Still open

Whether the two leftover 5 mg pens had lost meaningful potency and whether insurance will allow an earlier move to 12.5 mg.

Nothing here is advice.

I'm on week 41 of this medication and have dropped 63 lb from a starting weight of 350. I stayed on the lowest dose for nearly five months, then one month at the next level, two months at the one after that, and just took my first 10 mg shot this weekend. Only three days in and I'm ravenous today even though I'm eating 2200 calories. A pizza would be gone in minutes if it were in front of me. I never really got that full feeling back after the first dose. Looking for ideas because I'm thinking about adding something to quiet the hunger before I blow through this strength too. If it stays like this I'll just eat my way past 10 mg and I'm afraid the next steps won't help either. I had two of the previous pens left so I used those; could they have lost strength, or do I need to wait a full month on the new dose? Heading to bed hungry again.

I went with oven cooked potatoes since they rank first on the satiety index.

Did you consider using another spot for the shots? People say that sticking with the stomach every time and then switching to the arm or rear can make a difference. I'm on Tirzepatide but my progress with losing weight has stopped for several weeks now so I plan to use the arm next instead of raising the amount. The rear area didn't do anything for me whatsoever.

After using the same amount for a while I raised it to 12.5 just to check how things turned out.

So far it's only been four days since starting the ten. I need to stretch this out for a full month minimum. Coverage won't approve another fill until twenty five days pass.

If the pens are older maybe they've lost some strength but probably not by a lot. Four days seems too early to really know what's happening because it keeps accumulating in the body for about a month.

This is something I have not attempted yet. Those with greater knowledge might share useful perspectives, though combining the two could be worth considering.

Back before these meds the pace at which pounds came off given my initial size counted as normal. Lately though it strikes me as gradual by comparison. I shed a decent chunk and likely need to reset what feels sustainable by lifting intake a notch since the restriction stretched on for ages. Adding gentle movement could fit in there too. Once the constant hunger fades I can try trimming again. Reaching the top dose of that compound does not concern me because others here pushed past the standard level and fresh similar options will show up for combining later if it turns out necessary.

Have you thought about trying combinations? At the moment I'm using 10mg Tirz and just began adding .25mg Cagri four days after my Tirz shot. I've also seen mentions that others got good results from using Sema rather than Cagri.

Blood levels reach their maximum somewhere between eight and twenty four hours following the shot so that stage is already complete. The situation described matches what is typical and I went through it as well although I avoided getting hungry and instead stopped progressing. The reason involves stronger hunger cues appearing as weight drops further. Appetite reduction also becomes less effective with each following increase in dosage such as moving up by two point five milligrams from a higher starting point compared to a lower one. Introducing three milligrams of an additional agent made a huge difference allowing me to break past the standstill and shed those final pounds. If hunger control is the goal that addition represents the main next option. Replacing the current ten milligrams with ten of a different agent could allow ongoing loss over time due to its effect on another hormone. That addition would be my selection since availability is increasing although locating a dependable provider can be inconsistent sometimes. Wishing you success!

The half life of six days means levels keep building up over repeated identical doses, taking five weeks to reach their highest point. I came across a handy plotting tool online which graphs and computes the concentrations for these receptor agonists according to the chosen dose along with the half life value.

I agree with the point, since multiple elimination periods are needed before maximum results show up. From my own results along with the numbers, if the highest level from one dose fails to register any real impact, then building up via later cycles with small 2.5 milligram steps will probably produce only tiny changes that fall short of proper hunger control. Pairing in the other compound will easily surpass those limited gains. I feel completely sure about it. This comes only from what I went through.

I included a small amount of another compound at a quarter milligram right after my regular glp the next day.

I've administered 41 injections so far, placing 38 into my stomach, two into my upper limb, and one into my leg. Maybe I'll put ten more into my arm this coming weekend to check whether results differ. These stayed in the refrigerator for around 77 days, and although I notice some possible drop in strength, it shouldn't matter much. I'll keep going with this for a month, but the first four days already suggest the stretch ahead could feel difficult.

I'm interested but still sorting out what to pair alongside this. My AFIB means I have to skip anything that could throw off my pulse rate.

I've followed a comparable duration with gradual increases like the one mentioned. Right now after 42 weeks my level is 7.5. Around fourteen days back I hit a plateau with rising appetite and began spacing the 7.5 at six-day intervals rather than seven which appeared beneficial. I opted for adjusting the schedule before raising the dose and it worked for me. It seems everyone experiments to find their own pattern. Wishing the best!

Attempting the procedure during the week ahead and checking how it turns out is my plan. The arm is getting the same treatment, just to have a laugh.

Breaking up the dose helped me avoid getting hungry before the week finished prior to the next one. I also included some bulky items low in calories to stay satisfied. I hope you discover what fits you best!

I was actually talking about how long you've used the medication rather than how much you're taking. I don't have any experience handling insurance matters myself. So if coverage stops you from raising the amount I would expect some leveling off until other options become available to deal with it. Also sticking to your usual calorie level might keep hunger from becoming an issue.

↳ replying to @LevelMarble89

I found that putting it into my stomach area did nothing to reduce hunger. So instead I injected fifteen milligrams straight into my shoulder muscle and then went without any urge to eat for roughly three days.

SlowLedger99archive3h

I finally picked 10 to keep things going steady. It was a couple weeks until I figured out what worked for me.
