Plateau on Reta after initial loss

7 replies7 peopleOct 30, 2025☆ Follow
Summary

why has weight loss stalled on retatrutide and should the dose be raised or something stacked for food noise

The original poster lost 25 lb early on Reta but has seen no scale movement for two months while lifting and starting TRT, suspecting muscle gain offsets fat loss and noting rising food noise at 3.75-5 mg weekly. Others recommend moving to a single weekly shot at 8 mg or higher where glucagon effects strengthen, or adding low-dose sema which they find cheaper and better at quieting hunger. One user stresses tracking calories and waist measurements instead of relying only on the scale.

Been using Reta since around May. Dropped 25 pounds at first but the last two months the scale has not moved at all. I lift three times a week and began TRT in September, so I figure I might be adding muscle at roughly the same pace as fat loss. Food noise has been creeping back up lately and I want some thoughts. My current schedule is 1.25 mg three or four times a week, totaling 3.75 to 5 mg. Would it make sense to go up to 8 or 10 mg? I have also heard some people lowered their dose instead to manage sides rather than hunger. Or maybe I should add another compound to deal with the food noise?

More than one person has told me that splitting the reta dose did not work as well for them as taking the full amount once a week.

You have been on a low dose for quite a while without further loss. The glucagon effect really starts to show between 6 and 8 mg, so titrate upward. Also stop splitting it three or four times a week and switch to one or two injections instead.

The studies point toward 8 to 12 mg given once a week. For me the cost-benefit ratio looks best at 8 mg, but I still need to test how 4 mg feels first. I would try the higher single weekly dose and monitor how you respond.

Do you know what your daily calorie deficit actually is? Are you taking waist measurements? If not, why not?

Just wanted to say thanks for spelling losing correctly instead of writing loosing. I do not have any attention or compulsive issues that I know of, yet it still bothers me when someone calls me a looser.

Where have you been, brother? I thought the Indian Intelligence operatives had abducted you.

I began with sema back in May and added reta about three months later. Right now I do 2 mg sema plus 1 mg reta on Sunday and another 3 mg reta on Wednesday. Sema costs less than reta and I think it handles food noise better even at lower amounts. So far I have dropped about 42 pounds and I am happy with the results. Reta and sema seem to work well together.
