Wouldn't surprise me at all. It's already feeling like if those last few kilos come off the middle it'll look really good.

I can still handle it fine, the difference is I just don't feel pulled toward it the way I used to. Maybe some of that is reta shifting me to use more fat for fuel so I feel less tired overall.

This is a weird one. There's a fitness youtuber named Will Tenyson who did a video last year about his first natural bodybuilding competition. The part that stands out is him saying that even though he lost a lot of weight most of it was fat so his muscles showed more and he actually looked bigger, which I agree with. We will lose some muscle on a cut but revealing what's under the fat probably makes us look a bit bigger even if the scale says otherwise. As for sleep, no real problems. I noted it in earlier updates and I'm only at 2mg now so higher doses might change things, but it's the same as usual which means always wanting more but life gets in the way.

Sleep patterns haven't changed for me either. The only clear difference is with eyesight, kind of blurry and easier to lose focus, very noticeable when I'm at the computer all day but not when I'm out. BPC has started helping after I began looking into that, plus keeping electrolytes up.

I wanted to come back to this because it's been on my mind enough that I exported all my withings data into csv files and dug into the numbers. I think I see exactly what's happening with the muscle loss. The averages show weight down from 78.6kg to 74.7kg, fat mass from 14.5kg to 12.6kg, muscle mass from 60.9kg to 59.0kg and hydration from 44.2kg to 42.7kg. At first glance that's nearly 2kg of muscle in a month which would be alarming, but the hydration drop alone is 1.5kg and that's typical BIA behavior on a good cut. The scale can't measure muscle directly, it estimates from impedance and a model, so when glycogen and water fall the model gets thrown off. I went back to check because seeing that 2kg difference made me think there was no way I'd lost that much muscle without a big strength drop, and I haven't noticed any.

I raised average calories by about 300 after last week's update because the loss rate was getting close to the edge of what I consider acceptable, yet nothing changed. Maybe there's a lag while the body adjusts or maybe reta is just that effective and I'd need a much bigger increase. I'll run another week as is and if the rate stays the same I'll add another 300 or so. Everything else is steady, maybe a 1bpm average rise in resting heart rate but that's too small to be sure yet. If it is real it could be from the move to 2mg a couple weeks ago and more of the compound building up. All other metrics are fine. One other note, I had some alcohol this week which I rarely do, only a handful of times a year, and I definitely felt reta's effect when I did.

Another week done. I managed to slow the weight loss a little by adding calories, which is easier said than done but peanut butter helps. Now I'm under the 1kg per week mark I wanted. On top of that I've noticed a small but steady rise in heart rate both at rest and during activity, about 5-6bpm above baseline for resting rate after a few weeks at 2mg. Since my baseline is already low it's not a problem and I don't feel any anxious energy from it. I think 2mg is my dose for now, it handles the job without the earlier feeling of it wearing off before the next pin. One thing worth noting is occasional fatigue that feels exactly like what I used to get on a normal weight cut.

Another week wrapped up and progress is steady, pretty much a repeat of last week. Sides are basically none except the slightly higher heart rate at rest and when active. I've also got the loss rate under control now, happy to be around 0.75kg per week. Two months in and strength is holding up fine. The main things seem to be enough protein at least 1g per pound of lean mass and proper training stimulus several times a week hitting each group to failure at least once. One interesting detail is my current calorie intake compared with past cuts. I'm eating roughly 2200 a day, more than I would have pre reta, yet the weight is coming off more consistently. The whoop tracker also shows I used to need to eat far below what it reported as daily burn to lose weight before, but now the gap is smaller.

Sorry for the gap in updates, anyone who knows Sweden gets that we tend to disappear for a month in summer and head out to the countryside. Progress has kept going at the slower pace I wanted, averaging about 0.5kg a week and now just over 71kg. I did move from 2mg up to 3mg, not because I needed more appetite control but mostly to see if the extra glucagon receptor activity would speed fat loss. It feels like it might have but could be placebo. Energy is steady, the stubborn midsection is looking leaner though that might just be the usual last bit coming off. One change after going to 3mg is that even though appetite is the same my capacity for bigger meals has dropped, I don't usually eat large portions anyway but now I get full sooner.

Enjoyed reading through this, I'm on a similar path and only signed up this week. Solid work, looking forward to more.

This log would be better with some progress photos.
