Retatrutide and surgery

Summary

When can someone safely start retatrutide or a GLP-1 after recent breast augmentation or other surgery?

Participants share personal timelines for pausing and restarting GLP-1s around procedures, with most citing a 2-3 week window to clear anesthesia risk. Several note that appetite suppression and calorie restriction could slow healing, preferring to finish recovery first. One user reports restarting at low doses after multiple surgeries based on surgeon input, while others stress checking with the actual medical team rather than online opinions.

Whether retatrutide should be restarted soon after surgery versus waiting many months for full healing.

Hi all, got a question here. After seeing how well things went for me, my wife is thinking about trying reta too. Only issue is she just had breast augmentation three weeks back and wonders whether it might slow her recovery. Anyone have any info on that?

This is something best taken up with the actual medical team because there are too many unknowns. Getting advice off the internet can be risky. Maybe in six or twelve months it would be a different conversation, but right now stay in touch with the doctor.

I doubt any doctor would green-light an experimental drug no matter the circumstances. What I was hoping to find out is whether anyone has begun a GLP-1 or reta after having surgery.

This will be my third time. My own approach is to stop two weeks before and restart two weeks after. That feels comfortable, and I begin again at a low 1 mg dose of both tirz and reta. I figure things like BPC or TB might help more with healing, but reta works well for dropping weight and tirz seems better for inflammation in my view. I already have 100 syringes preloaded that I'm using.

I would give her more time to heal before starting anything. Wouldn’t want appetite suppressed or nutrient intake too low while she’s still recovering.

Healing and being in a calorie deficit probably work better one after the other instead of at the same time.

I’ve had several surgeries lately so I have some real examples of what my surgeons said about restarting GLP-1s. They all cleared me between two and three weeks, mainly to be past the highest risk period for anesthesia issues. Still, the best move is to ask the surgeon directly. Just mention she plans to start a GLP-1 and ask when it would be okay. Cosmetic surgery offices answer that question all the time.

Agreed, I’m recovering from surgery right now and I’m keeping protein, calories, and overall food intake higher than usual so I can finish healing properly.

Thanks a lot, that’s exactly the kind of information I was hoping to find. Appreciate everyone’s thoughts, they’ve been useful.

You have 100 of them already filled, and what’s in them? Just wondering, thanks.

Everything! Wondered if anyone would ask. KLOW, PPS, IGF-1 LR3, tirz and reta, CJC-1295 with ipamorelin, plus some higher starting doses of BPC-157 and TB500. I’m waiting 72 hours after surgery before I begin. Come off the stronger pain meds, confirm everything is fine, do a clean bandage change and so on. If something goes wrong I don’t want to wonder which injection caused it. This was a rotator cuff repair and bicep reattachment. I’ll be in a sling for six to eight weeks with plenty of rehab ahead.

April last year was when my right shoulder got a total reverse replacement. That makes me able to relate. Back then peptides were something completely unfamiliar to me.

I helped my mom through both of her replacements, so I get it. That’s the direction I was heading with my own if I had let them go. I did the right one first since it’s my dominant side, but the left is worse so I’ll handle that next year. Should be interesting.

One of the top five shoulder specialists in the country did mine. I’d go through it again. Glad it worked out for you and your mom.
