Temporary side effects Reta, how long until they stopped for you?

Summary

How long do temporary side effects from retatrutide last before resolving as the body adjusts?

Users report that bloating, constipation, heartburn, dry mouth, elevated heart rate, fatigue, and GI distress often ease within 2-4 weeks at a given dose, though some effects like skin sensitivity or feeling cold persist longer. Several note that side effects return or new ones appear when increasing the dose, and appetite suppression can weaken as the body adapts, prompting titration. Experiences vary widely by individual, with some stabilizing at lower doses while others need to go higher for continued effects.

To begin with, I figured the bloating and lack of bathroom visits would just stay that way, yet by the third week things appear to be settling back to normal. This made me curious what temporary side effects others ran into that faded once their bodies adjusted. My sleep has also improved a bit, so I'm wondering if that trend might continue.

No bloating for me, though dry mouth stuck around for several weeks. Skin sensitivity remains after two months. Heart rate stopped being high after roughly a month. Sleep was never a problem, but I've used melatonin for years so hard to say. No pain except occasional discomfort from the skin sensitivity, and no bowel trouble either. I still get very cold at bedtime even after two months, yet I can run the AC all day without issue, which feels odd. Getting used to less frequent pooping has been strange.

Not sure what dose you're using. For me it worsens when going higher. Started around mid 6mg and kept going up to 8mg. Heartburn is another one that shows up before bed on shot day sometimes. At the start it happened every night.

I'm on 2mg split across the week. At exactly one month everything has settled down, which surprises me. Bowels are normal again and last night I finally got seven hours of sleep for the first time in a month. I'm wondering if the drop in side effects also means the drug is working less, like less appetite suppression or return of food noise. That's important to me because I want to stay at 2mg and avoid going past 4mg.

Dizziness that never ends, plus my blood pressure is too low. I have to add extra salt to everything and drink electrolytes every day. If my calorie deficit gets too big one day, dizziness hits suddenly. Hoping it fades in a month or two.

GI problems eased after the first couple weeks even at just 1mg split in half. There was a lot of bowel clenching like needing to go but nothing there. When moving up to 4mg split during month two I had a lot of fatigue, probably from eating less while still going to the gym. Anhedonia showed up at 6mg and stayed noticeable through month three. Skin sensitivity appeared then too. Now at 8mg in month four energy is steadier, anhedonia is much milder, but skin sensitivity is stronger and irritating where clothes rub.

Did the symptoms ease before you increased the dose, or did you go up because the effects seemed to be slowing?

You're lucky then. We stayed at 4mg for six weeks and the effects flattened out by the end. At 6mg for six weeks there wasn't much happening toward the finish. Now at 8mg I feel full all the time again. Appetite is low and sleep is poor, but heartburn has mostly gone away. I've been on 8mg for four weeks and plan to stay until about ten pounds from goal, then figure out maintenance.

Both happened. The GI trouble stopped and the next week evening food noise returned strongly. I went from 1mg up to 8mg weekly with split doses instead of doubling each time. The points I mentioned were where the main side effects started or eased. I only increased when late-night cravings came back even after a protein shake or light snack.

Sounds like the usual pattern of four weeks before the body adapts and then needing more. I was hoping to keep feeling the way I do now.

I've seen reports of people staying at 2-4mg without needing more. I had already dropped from 295 to 235 before starting and have fluctuated between 215 and 235 seasonally for two years. Most processed foods are already gone from my diet, we eat mostly protein and vegetables, sweets aren't a big thing, and I've been consistent at the gym for five years with decent muscle. Individual response and how much restriction versus energy needs probably play a big role.

Bloating lasted about a week or two for me. I also found out fast that my lactose intolerance got about three times worse.
