Tirzepatide and Effects on ED

6 replies5 peopleApr 7, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does tirzepatide improve erectile dysfunction and other conditions beyond weight loss?

Participants discuss studies linking tirzepatide and other GLP drugs to ED improvement in men with type 2 diabetes plus reductions in fatty liver. Some view these as game-changing extra benefits while others see the effects as minor or likely tied to weight loss itself. One user reports the opposite outcome with reduced libido. Concerns are raised about study methods relying on database analysis rather than randomized trials and the lack of testing in non-overweight people.

Tirzepatide appears to help with erectile dysfunction for guys who have type 2 diabetes. These GLP medications really change things in ways that go past just losing weight.

The numbers seem about the same as other things and likely not that important. I don't think it's fair to say it's a major breakthrough; that feels overstated.

By game changing I was referring to other research on these GLP drugs showing big drops in fatty liver disease along with the ED improvement. More studies are expected soon that will reveal additional advantages outside of weight reduction.

There's solid basis to think these drugs could assist with numerous issues. However, most testing has been on overweight individuals, and shedding pounds improves many conditions. Researchers are attempting to separate the other effects, but without trials on those already at normal weight, it's impossible to tell. My estimate is that only about half of the claimed benefits will turn out to be real.

Right now there are clinical trials focused only on addiction.

Tirzepatide seems like a wonder drug to me because it helps with weight loss and many other health problems too. I agree it's a game changer. Still, assuming it's the study I'm thinking of, the findings apply to men with type 2 diabetes rather than the broader population. I wish I could read the full paper but my work login blocks it. Database-only studies make me doubtful since they just look for links. Randomized controlled trials are preferable in my view to these big retrospective analyses of health records.

From my own experience it seems to do the reverse and kills sex drive.
