Unexpected Benefit: Relief from OCD, Rumination, and Anxiety

5 replies6 peopleMay 10, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does retatrutide reduce rumination, anxiety, or mental noise beyond its effects on appetite?

Several users describe a noticeable quieting of racing thoughts, health worries, and repetitive thinking after starting retatrutide, describing it as background mental noise disappearing and daily stressors feeling less gripping. The effect appeared within weeks for some and persisted months later, prompting one person to consider staying on a low maintenance dose. Others report mainly reduced food-related thoughts or question whether mood and sleep changes are coincidental.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Participants differ on whether the mental quieting extends beyond food thoughts or applies to everyone, with some attributing changes to placebo or coincidence.

I began this to drop weight gained during perimenopause and am now in month three at one milligram weekly. The mental shifts stand out more than expected. My head used to stay busy nonstop with worries, worst-case thinking, and looping thoughts about all sorts of things. That constant background has faded, leaving my mind clearer and calmer so I can concentrate without the old anxiety spirals. The sense of peace feels surprising and valuable, enough that I may keep a small amount going after the weight goal is met rather than stopping at six months. Has anyone else found their thoughts settling this way? I checked around but see little mention of it.

I saw the change mainly around eating. I used to struggle with food-related issues but those have eased, which points to effects on the mind as well.

I'm still early and on a small amount, so I'm unsure if the slight mood shift comes from this or something else. My thoughts tend to speed up at bedtime and make sleep difficult. The past couple nights brought the best rest I've had in a while, plus more drive in the morning. It could be unrelated, so I'll watch how it goes over the next weeks.

I went through the same shift and wondered at first if it was just excitement from starting a new routine, yet after three and a half months it remains. Old worries no longer stick the way they used to. Hoping it keeps up.

For me it's been limited to thoughts about food. Maybe a higher amount would quiet the rest if I'm fortunate. Glad it's working out for you.

I notice more of an upbeat feeling and less looping on the same ideas. Right after the first dose there was a lifted mood, almost like being covered by something warm and fresh from the dryer. Might do another dose soon.
