Weekly dose or split dose?

20 replies15 peopleJun 30, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Should GLP doses stay weekly or be split every few days once titration increases?

Users report mixed personal results with both schedules. Weekly injections worked fine for some over many months with steady loss and tolerable sides. Others switched to twice-weekly shots after side effects appeared and found steadier levels and fewer problems. Several note they adjust based on how appetite suppression and side effects feel at higher amounts.

I'm undecided. After four weeks at 2 mg once a week I'm thinking about dividing the shots once I reach 4 mg. What are the advantages of sticking to one injection per week compared to splitting every three and a half days? Could use some input here.

I've always preferred splitting into two shots a week. Plenty of others will probably chime in, but you can also check recent threads on the same subject.

I stick with weekly and so does my wife. It's worked well for the last six months.

I moved to twice a week once I reached 5 mg because side effects showed up. Now I do 3 mg every three and a half days and have no problems.

This has been covered many times. I use twice-weekly shots. Today is day 200 on the medication, I've lost 70 lb, DEXA shows about 25 percent body fat, and I have roughly 30 lb left to reach my goal.

I changed from once a week to twice a week when the side effects became too much to handle. I would have preferred to stay on weekly but it was either adjust or stop altogether.

Not sure if one method is best or if it differs for this medication, but I dropped all 100 lb using once-weekly shots at 6 mg for most of the time. I would have split if sides had been bad, but they never reached that point. Weekly also fits well with my zig-zag calorie approach because suppression is strongest early in the week when I want to eat less and weaker later when I allow more.

I began splitting once I started increasing the dose. The reason was that appetite suppression seemed to fade around day five or six, so spreading the amount across the week kept levels steadier and helped avoid possible side effects. It worked well for those goals. I also used the split approach to taper down later by trimming one of the two days gradually so appetite didn't return all at once. You can also try different amounts on each day to test what feels right instead of jumping straight to four.

No problem. It took some trial and error on my end too. I also added a note at the end of the previous comment. Slow and steady works better for lasting results. Fast loss can happen at high doses early, but some people regain quickly when stopping or lowering and end up needing higher maintenance amounts. That seems expensive in the long run. The goal should be reaching the target then maintaining without the medication if possible by building diet and habits that last. Pay attention to how your body responds while increasing.

Thanks again. This is helping me figure out my plan, and splitting might be the better option.

One doctor advises against splitting doses once at the 4 mg mark.

For me twice a week works better. I'm using it to reduce autoimmune flare-ups, and waiting longer lets inflammation return. Weight loss has stayed around two pounds a week no matter the schedule. I even tried every six days for a while.

LevelFenwick53archiveJul 1

Both schedules actually. Right now I'm cutting while trying to hold muscle. I'm using 8 mg weekly of one medication and 5 mg every two weeks of the other for a total of 10 mg weekly. The first one drops fat quickly but barely affects hunger for me. The second keeps me satisfied on simple meals and shakes. With both I've been losing three pounds a week. I could lose faster but sometimes have to push myself to eat a late protein bar and shake. The priority is keeping most of my muscle.

How much have you lost so far? That total weekly amount sounds like one of the highest I've seen.

You must not have looked around much. Some people take 18 mg a week of one medication, and others use even more of either or both when stacking.

I've seen reports of people on much higher amounts, like 20 mg weekly of one medication. I've lost over 100 pounds and am now at 15 percent body fat aiming for 12 percent. I'm only running this stack for a month; if I don't hit 12 percent that's fine. I'm already fairly muscular so definition is showing, and I just want to be a bit leaner before switching to a bulk.

I inject the full dose every six days. When I tried splitting early on I didn't feel the effects as strongly. Since this is adjustable you can test twice-weekly shots and switch back to once a week if it doesn't suit you. The flexibility is nice. Good luck deciding.

Splitting keeps levels steadier instead of a big mid-week peak followed by a drop. This is second-hand information. It can also mean fewer side effects if any appear.

RustThistle90archiveJul 4

This thread would have worked well as a poll. I'm also a splitter every three days. Peaks stay lower than with one big dose so the initial impact and sides are milder, and there's no late-week drop. Some people like letting levels fall so they can eat more on weekends, but I eat the same every day. I'm starting to notice skin crawling and goose-bump sensations, so keeping sides down with splits is helpful. I never had much indigestion, headaches, or nausea. Early on while building up levels I felt almost nothing, good or bad, so I moved from 1 mg every three days to 1.5 mg then 2 mg over three or four weeks.
