Curious about the “beyond weight loss” benefits

15 replies11 peopleMay 21, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

What non-weight-loss effects do people report from GLP-1 drugs after mold exposure or with conditions like POTS, Hashimoto’s, or ADHD?

Users describe clearer thinking, steadier energy, less food noise, and some inflammation relief while using liraglutide, tirzepatide, or retatrutide. Several note personal improvements in mood, task initiation, resting heart rate, or skin issues, though results vary and some experience flat mood or worse sleep. Basic nutrient levels, sleep, and daily movement are repeatedly called the foundation before expecting peptides to help. Retatrutide is singled out by a few for metabolic changes that earlier GLP-1s did not deliver.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether retatrutide helps or harms sleep, fatigue, and POTS symptoms; whether tirzepatide meaningfully affects spondyloarthritis or Hashimoto’s beyond weight loss.

Optimal long-term maintenance dosing for non-weight effects such as liver, kidney, or blood-sugar control.

Hi folks, happy to join this group. I've come here wanting to figure out links between body mass, swelling, cleansing processes, emotions, and general health. For the last few years, I've faced numerous challenges with my well-being following exposure to mold toxins, such as tiredness, mental haze, worry, trouble resting, swelling, and struggling to regain a sense of normalcy. I've observed that all these elements link together closely—how the body processes energy, clears toxins, changes in weight, sharpness of mind, vitality, and even mood stability. What I'd like most is to read about others' actual encounters here, particularly around cleansing and swelling, medications like GLP-1 and how they affect health apart from shedding pounds, boosts in spirits and clear thinking, increases in drive and stamina, control over hunger and reduced swelling, and just feeling better in general rather than only seeing numbers drop on the scale. My main goal is to gain knowledge, share personal tales, and maybe meet folks on comparable paths. Can't wait to read what others have gone through and learned.

That comic guy searching for his enchanted brew cracks me up. When it comes to mental cloudiness, the GLP-1 types I've tried really sharpen my thinking. My mind feels as sharp as it did at twenty. Last year I finished way more tasks than in the five years before that, and my colleagues can't match my pace. Keeping blood sugar steady. People overlook this, yet it's the main purpose of these agonists. Mixing two specific peptides wipes out exhaustion. I took a bit of another compound early today, and it feels excellent. One peptide on its own, separate from any blend, makes skin irritation go down noticeably.

People share stories about these meds lifting mood and easing focus problems like ADHD, though others report feeling flat or losing interest in things. My own dopamine setup seems sensitive. One led to dark thoughts within weeks even on tiny amounts, while the other slowed my ability to get started on tasks after several weeks. You're spot on to explore inflammation along with mood and ongoing health troubles. Trouble sleeping feeds into all that. Research on the stress response system shows links between digestion and how we feel mentally. Tackle the main areas early like vitamin checks, steady meals, handling tension, and keeping active. These compounds or add-ons won't make up for lousy habits around food. Without proper building blocks the body can't fix itself and everything drags. Test results matter beyond the standard cutoff since there's a sweet spot too. With vitamin D for example higher parts of the normal band tend to suit people better. Mine turned out low the first time I checked it years later and raising it showed other issues the shortage had hidden. Sorting those core pieces first feels like working out a snarl.

This compound appears to have shifted my resting metabolic rate in a way earlier options never managed. The pounds drop off now the same way they did back when I felt healthier a decade earlier. I'll likely stay on it long term except if those DNA checks next July turn up anything.

Hey there, I can relate because I went through something similar with exposure to black mold over about four years. It was actually dripping from the ceiling above where I slept. I had all those same issues like tiredness, mental cloudiness, worry, swelling, and just not feeling right. The main improvement came from changing where I lived. Once I moved, I gradually returned to my normal self. Lately I've started with reta for two weeks, going from 217 down to 198 already. What's surprising isn't the pounds lost but how much more like my old self I feel. Losing that constant urge to eat has boosted my focus more than I thought it would. I've also been combining a few other compounds such as ghk-cu and bpc to help with swelling and healing. Someone mentioned glutathione to me recently, and the reports about it helping with cleaning out toxins and reducing swelling seem impressive. It might apply to my situation with the mold as well.

It didn't appear to have much impact on me whatsoever. I combined it together with Tirz before. There's still a lot remaining so I paused using it. Therefore I'm thinking about trying again solely with Reta. Mind sharing what amount you took or the way you ramped up the dose?

I'm seriously considering KPV. My issues include hashimoto, SpA, and PoTS. Started tirzepatide back in November. In my view Enbrel handles most of it. Tirzepatide seems ineffective for SpA yet the fifty one pound drop counts as a win. Nobody mentions this but tirzepatide appears to ease PoTS symptoms. Resting pulse dropped from seventy four down to sixty two beginning in April. Upright increases fell from around one thirty into the nineties. Hot weather affects PoTS separately and today it reached one thirty eight outside without the usual trembling or near fainting. That happened while adding fresh liners to the poultry boxes.

Have you considered making a separate discussion instead? The matter you're raising stands apart from what the first poster covered back then.

To me there's no distinction here. Earlier i pointed out an upside i considered separate from dropping pounds together with the effects i've avoided on glp.

I think magnesium along with CoQ10 and L-Carnitine could be useful supplements too. Regarding the original poster, reta doesn't seem like it would address those issues at all. It might actually make sleep worse along with increasing fatigue and mental cloudiness. People with POTS probably ought to avoid it because heart rate goes up. Glad tirz worked out for your situation. It's a shame there's no compound available for every problem. Boosting my own methylation process and learning about B vitamins has really boosted how energetic I feel during the day. Exercise like running or cycling also helps keep overall wellness in check. Wishing you the best.

Most days when I recall my supplements I swallow magnesium glycinate. I include concentrated omega 3 along with it. Hashimoto made me wary about L carnitine yet I might attempt it anyway. From what I have seen GLP should aggravate PoTS but my baseline pulse feels reduced due to fewer surges or maybe that is just the measurement method. Never considered CoQ10 before but I could grab some now. Inflammation remains high in my system. Sorry for any spelling slips since I am writing without lights on.

Cases like this don't show up often, so responses usually improve when starting a separate conversation under an obvious heading.

SteadyMeadow73archiveJun 18

Way to go on kicking the habit! I'll look into buying that supplement the next time a big discount comes around, probably right before the holiday. I can get the carnitine soon since I've cut way back on my food expenses from using the GLP. The dizziness when standing feels strange and goes along with the autoimmune thyroid thing. Honestly I've experienced that since my twenties without realizing how serious it was until a wearable device pointed it out. Back then I'd nearly black out rinsing off each morning but then feel fine enough to go to my job. These days with my age it's pretty clear why.

GreenThistle20archiveJun 18

Living with ADHD I've noticed better handling of sudden urges like grabbing pointless items plus keeping my place organized which feels new after I began this medication a year and a half back. My spouse used to have a few drinks most evenings and used tobacco regularly. After he started the same thing around seven or eight months earlier he quit drinking completely and cut way back on smoking.

SteadyAnchor73archiveJun 19

I'm wondering what upkeep level of reta might be required to preserve its wider bodily impacts such as those involving the liver kidneys and glucose handling.
