Peptide burnout?

20 replies11 peopleOct 17, 2025β˜† Follow
Summary

What to do when GLP-1 peptides lose effectiveness and how far will people push doses or stacks?

Users report varying degrees of tolerance buildup with tirzepatide, semaglutide, retatrutide and cagrilintide. Some keep increasing frequency or dose, rotate compounds, or add small amounts of another peptide while others find even triple the listed maximum produces no further appetite or weight effect. Several describe personal experiments with 15-20 mg tirzepatide every five days or stacking low-dose compounds, yet express unease about unknown long-term consequences. The thread mixes accounts of continued results at high doses with stories of complete loss of response after breaks or prolonged use.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether stacking or exceeding trial doses is acceptable versus stopping when standard ranges no longer work.

Still open

Long-term health effects of sustained high-dose or multi-peptide use and reliable ways to restore response after burnout.

Nothing here is advice.

Have any of you run into peptide burnout lately? Some stay on a low dose the whole time while others have to push all the way to the top and then nothing works anymore. How many here are willing to go two or three times past the maximum dose to keep getting results? How many have taken a break, come back, and still seen almost no effect? How many have maxed out a stack and still got nothing? With cagri and survo after months they just don't seem to do much for me. I've been looking into this for a while and even daily micro-dosing sometimes does nothing, and maxing out sometimes does nothing either. So what are the options now? What risks are you okay with to reach your goal, and what about the longer-term effects of using these? This is an open talk about what feels safe versus what you're prepared to risk for the outcome you want. Let's hear what you've tried and what you think.

I am on 15 mg Tirz every six days and it still works. If it stops I will try 16-17-18 mg, or switch to every five days, or add Cagri, or stack some Reta. There are still moves left.

RustAnchor35archiveOct 19, 2025

When you say nothing happens, what exactly are you tracking? Is weight not moving or is it some other effect? The answer might change depending on that.

Check out these new sema trials at 7.5 mg in phase 3, so going higher is an option.

I just read that. I do 15 mg tirz every five days. I rotate sema, tirz and reta after about two and a half or three months. With the new study I will be comfortable going up to 4 mg sema, maybe even 5 mg but that is it.

As most know here I have done two times or even three times the weekly max of some of these and I am still here.

BrightSignal21archiveOct 20, 2025

Somewhere I saw mention of studies reaching doses of sixty milligrams weekly with this particular substance. Personally I'm looking into getting hold of another similar product to try myself. There's also talk of a homemade alternative to a different one but combining those would make me uneasy.

SteadyQuill55archiveOct 20, 2025

I've been adding a tiny bit of another compound every six days alongside my usual five milligrams of the main medication. It leaves me somewhat anxious. It seemed to ease the tiredness from the primary treatment, at least slightly, though not much. Deep down I recognize I probably shouldn't be experimenting like this, and that realization sits uneasily with me, growing louder as the newness fades until I quit. At the same time I'm on my initial break from the other substance, and even though its injection reactions bother me, I felt disappointed yesterday realizing there was nothing scheduled for today. I prepared a vial of a different peptide to keep up a small daily amount for swelling. I reminded myself it was just for that purpose, but then I came across someone's protocol involving several other compounds and got really interested, so I bought a couple vials of one of them. All this makes me think a talk with myself is approaching, where I'll gently point out that I've turned these experiments into a temporary pastime and that probably isn't wise to continue. I'll suggest stepping away to craft jewelry, hunt for certain berries, or prepare the garden for colder weather instead. I'm not ready for that talk yet, but I can sense it coming.

Did 5 mg of cagri and nothing crazy happened.

I suppose those three hormones remain options for tinkering if desired. Though I'm certainly not urging anyone to expand whatever assortment they already keep around. πŸ˜‡

I've been reflecting on this situation privately. Previously the name-brand version worked well for keeping my blood sugar levels steady and shedding pounds. After losing my insurance I had to quit. Since September I've been experimenting with a new source. Even at a dose of 1.7 milligrams once weekly there's been no impact so far. I'm about to try the third week. Maybe I should try a different option instead. Perhaps combining with something else like that other compound. I've been researching extensively to decide. It was simpler having a prescription from my physician. He offered to prescribe the brand tirzepatide. But I chose the alternative route and stuck with the familiar one. That other product comes with its own complications. There's mixed advice about mixing it using bacteriostatic water versus acetic acid. It's all quite puzzling. Sorry if I interrupted the thread. I feel like I'm going in loops here. This leaves me annoyed unsure and let down. The previous medication delivered excellent outcomes but this one isn't doing anything.

Perhaps I'll go that route instead. Either this option or bringing in the other one, given my familiarity with how my system handles the current treatment. Appreciated.

This doesn't count as stealing the thread from anyone, or at least I steal threads constantly. Heavens above, whatever your relationship status might be, quit offering apologies to complete unknowns in online discussions if you haven't done anything incorrect.

I've spent time on plenty of discussion boards across the years, and lots of them turn super strict on thread diversion, so I tossed out that instant sorry note upon arriving as a fresh face. Nice to find this spot skips that habit.

I hope this doesn't happen. There'll be plenty more removals if threads can't move forward because of users with fleeting interest.

I've always been determined to avoid returning to my heaviest weight of 145 kilograms. Over three decades I've dropped below 70 kilos on three occasions but could never maintain anything under 100 for longer than three years at a stretch. For twelve months I endured constant queasiness and slight unwellness from semaglutide since it curbed my hunger effectively. Now I've maintained below 75 kilos for two full years. Finding this community opened up additional affordable choices for me. I'd be fine taking twice the usual amount of tirzepatide since research is exploring 25 milligrams weekly. Even then it might lower risks of major health issues though that's unconfirmed so far. My body handles a maximum of 15 milligrams combined with four milligrams of retatrutide each week without the sickness semaglutide caused but any small uptick brings odd crawling feelings on my skin so I stop there. I haven't tested larger tirzepatide amounts alone yet because the current mix continues to function well. At 71 kilos I'm dropping 150 to 200 grams weekly while consuming whatever limited foods I require to stay satisfied. This approach feels like it could last unlike before when I'd become extremely hungry at this size.

CopperWillow54archiveNov 5, 2025

At the moment my dosage sits at twenty milligrams of the medication I'm using. I see no reason to increase from here but I'd go along with it if needed. When I gave the other compound a try even small amounts left me feeling miserable overall. Plenty of folks enjoy it yet I doubt it'll ever become available widely. I tend to be incorrect frequently though. From time to time I switch over to the cheaper option since it provides solid control over hunger. Once that starts losing its punch I return to the first one beginning at ten milligrams and gradually raise it.

Twenty milligrams already. Was the rise straight after fifteen or done through gradual steps instead? Taking doses every week?

CopperWillow54archiveNov 9, 2025

I went to 17.5 first and yes I inject every five days. There are trials that go up to 25 mg. I doubt I will go that high though. Too expensive and I have reached goal weight at least half a dozen times already.
