Putin's Quest for Longevity (Peptides mentioned)

Summary

What do forum users say about Russian peptides for longevity and the evidence around them?

Users note Russian research into short-chain peptides developed for health applications, with some personal plans to use them despite limited Western data. Skepticism centers on trial quality compared to Western standards and the early death of a key researcher. Others point to long-standing Russian work predating the end of the Cold War and acceptance of certain compounds on official medicine lists.

There's a short reference to these compounds in a news piece on Russia's efforts toward longer life.

Russia stands out for peptides because a local researcher developed several versions to support his population, including the ON and GEN lines such as pinealon, epitalon, vesugen, testagen, ovagen, pancragen and cardiogen. They may also have originated semax and selank. The FDA dismissed those despite local trials, but the agency is useless on the grey market and just protects big money interests. The leader chose correctly.

Whenever those peptides come up, someone notes the clinical evidence falls short of Western standards. A Russian article right after the researcher's passing repeated the doubts: he claimed clients could reach 120 yet passed at 77. Much of the human data comes from the animal-derived cytomax versions rather than the synthetic cytogen short chains, which mostly have animal work instead.

They were already working on this kind of thing well before the Cold War ended. The iron curtain kept it hidden until the late eighties and early nineties when more information crossed over. Turns out the other side had been active too. Resilient and clever group.

The gerontologist passed in early 2024 at age 77 with no official cause released. Government figures have sometimes been removed. My own guess is the big pharma groups had it arranged after the FDA's enforcement arm flagged the work. Problem solved for them.

The peptides must have helped because reaching 77 is solid given the daily vodka habit.

Male life expectancy there sits around 65, so 77 counts as strong.

Both semax and selank have solid Russian research behind them and even appear on the country's essential medicines list.
