Red patch, suspecting the bac water

25 replies11 peopleJan 29, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Could my bacteriostatic water be causing burning and red patches after injecting peptides like reta and GHK-cu?

The original poster experienced identical hot red patches and burning from two different peptides mixed with the same bac water, something that had never happened before. Several users point to non-pharma-grade bac water as the likely culprit and recommend switching sources or testing pH, while others note that reta itself can trigger delayed histamine reactions. Suggestions include injecting bac water alone to test, filtering peptides, or trying antihistamines, though results vary. The user later reported the reaction stopped after moving injection sites to the glutes.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether an antihistamine like Benadryl reliably stops the reaction; one user says it works every time while another reports zero effect.

Still open

Whether the peptides themselves, the specific bac water batch, pH, or fillers are the true trigger, and whether 5-micron blunt-fill needles are adequate for sterile filtration.

Nothing here is advice.

I got my reta along with some GHK-cu. I had an unopened 10 ml bac water that I used to mix both. Monday I injected the GHK-cu into my love handle and it burned; I assumed it was just the GHK-cu. The next day I did the reta in my stomach and got the same hot red patch. Never had this problem before, so do you think the bac water could be the issue?

NorthAnchor41archiveJan 29

Where did the bac water come from?

WarmCinder86archiveJan 29

Well, it’s probably not pharma-grade bac water. Only use a trusted brand.

AmberMeadow54archiveJan 29

If you aren’t using a trusted brand, switch. And if the reaction continues, try filtering.

WryTimber41archiveJan 29

No, I’m not using that brand. It’s from another lab I’ve never had issues with before, but something isn’t right.

Damn, I’ve just had two bac vials from them. Was it not the bac you ordered from the other place?

WryTimber41archiveJan 29

No, not the one from the other place because I still had the unopened one from the first lab. The other one was fine.

AmberAlder58archiveJan 29

If something isn’t right then ditch them right away and try again with a trusted brand. Have either of the peptides been tested?

WryTimber41archiveJan 30

What should the pH be?

BrightSignal73archiveJan 30

It doesn’t necessarily have to be the bac water. Reta itself can cause a delayed histamine reaction that lines up with when you pinned and when the spot appears. I always get that. Something else could be interacting or triggering it; for me it started when I also began taking another compound. Still, try a trusted brand and see if that was the problem.

SlowBramble78archiveJan 30

Not sure if this helps. Do you filter the peptides? For my own peace of mind I run filters on all my meds.

Here’s a short video on it, just some info.

Can’t you just use them? They’re blunt fill needles with a 5 micron filter.

SlowBramble78archiveJan 30

I’m not sure; that looks like a very small filter and I’d think it would clog. Maybe someone else can answer.

NorthAnchor41archiveJan 30

Those blunt fill needles are meant for glass ampoules so any glass fragments stay out of the syringe. The filters are only 5 microns while 0.20 or 0.22 microns is the usual standard for sterile filtration.

You could try injecting some bac water by itself to see if you get the same reaction.

I measured the acidity in my containers and got a reading of 5.5. Based on what I've come across the normal range falls between 4.5 and 7.0 with most sitting near 5.7.

That’s good. I’ve moved to my glutes and it’s okay now.

I'm trying to figure out the right spot to attach something in that area.

Left side of your glute on the left or right side on the right.
