anyone else getting considerably better results with Tirz compared to Reta?

41 replies23 peopleSep 26, 2025☆ Follow
Summary

Why do some people report stronger appetite control and easier fat loss on tirzepatide than on retatrutide, and what dosing or stacking options help when switching?

Users describe tirzepatide as delivering stronger appetite suppression and fewer side effects like skin sensitivity or reduced energy compared with retatrutide, even at higher retatrutide doses. Several report that retatrutide produces milder hunger control and sometimes increases binge risk or heart-rate changes, while others find retatrutide superior once they reach 8 mg or combine it with other agents. Stacking lower-dose tirzepatide with semaglutide or trying cagrilintide is mentioned as a way to restore suppression without raising retatrutide further. Experiences vary widely by individual response and titration speed.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some participants find retatrutide clearly inferior for appetite control while others reach excellent suppression at 8 mg or higher and prefer it; a few report better overall results on retatrutide after tirzepatide stalls.

Still open

Whether retatrutide will eventually match or exceed tirzepatide results for those who stall, and the safest long-term way to combine or switch the two agents.

Nothing here is advice.

I had solid results combining tirz with more cardio and habits from earlier cuts. It felt easier than past attempts, aside from rough metabolic effects the first few weeks. Tirz worked well from November 2024 into March. When moving toward maintenance I tried reta because its mechanism looked better and studies showed more weight loss. After months of dose adjustments I found reta gave weaker appetite control, made binges more likely, caused noticeable skin sensitivity, and left me less energetic overall. Direct switches back to tirz, even at low total amounts around 6 mg over two weeks, produced much stronger suppression than reta at 8 mg.

Our bodies really do respond differently. I had not tried reta yet but after four months on tirz at 7.5 mg and losing 36 pounds I felt the effect was fading. Adding surv made the experience match what you described with tirz alone, especially the sense of being able to choose whether to eat while still enjoying food when you do.

Did you add the second compound before raising your tirz dose toward 15 mg?

BrightThistle26archiveSep 26, 2025

Everything I have read says reta does not suppress appetite as strongly as tirz, sema, or cag. I started reta and notice some effect but still feel hungry at times.

Yes, I stayed at 7.5 mg tirz and added surv instead of going higher. Started at 0.6 mg surv alongside it and moved to 1.2 mg while keeping tirz the same. It worked as hoped for me.

I noticed peak suppression two to four days after dosing. Going up to 3 mg every three days did nothing for me. Switching to 6 mg every six days still left me very hungry by day five. Trying 5 mg every five days now to see if hunger stays steadier. Responses really differ between people.

IronQuill60archiveSep 27, 2025

Tirz works better for me than reta. What most people say reta does is what tirz does for me. Some friends of mine get good results from reta though, so it is about finding what fits.

RustQuill56archiveSep 27, 2025

I miss tirz. I used it years ago, dropped a lot of weight, then had to stop. Later attempts with sema did nothing. On reta for six months I have lost from 265 to 225 but the appetite control is weaker and progress feels slower. I think the slower pace may be better for muscle and skin, yet I still wish it were faster and that I had the same workout drive I had before.

GreyWillow80archiveSep 30, 2025

This is the kind of report I hoped not to see. After 13 months on tirz up to 15 mg with no further movement I still have weight to lose. I started reta at 2 mg split last week and already notice thoughts of sweets returning, though some suppression remains. I plan to titrate slowly and test one change at a time.

ClearKettle23archiveSep 30, 2025

Just sharing my own experience at maintenance. I developed bad anxiety on tirz, stopped for four weeks, then restarted at a lower dose plus a little sema each week. No anxiety now and good suppression. Hopefully reta works for you, but other options exist if it does not.

GreyWillow80archiveSep 30, 2025

Thanks, that is encouraging. I felt hopeful trying reta and am glad your adjusted approach is working without the anxiety.

Out of curiosity, what were the harsh metabolic sides you mentioned?

SharpCompass15archiveSep 30, 2025

I am curious about these experiences because I am thinking of switching to tirz for maintenance. Reta feels all-or-nothing even at low doses, and I have a 10 bpm rise in resting heart rate. Tirz might give milder appetite reduction without that. I am only at week 22 on low-dose reta, down 30 pounds, and still have some sweet cravings but can stop after one bite. Food has to be worth eating now. Some days I forget about food until evening.

QuietTimber27archiveSep 30, 2025

Tirz and sema did nothing for me. Reta has taken me within 15-20 pounds of goal with strong appetite control and almost no food noise.

SteadyAnchor72archiveSep 30, 2025

Why not stack? Neither sema nor tirz works strongly for me alone, but together they do. I am at 15 mg tirz plus 1 mg sema weekly and will not go higher because of constipation. It is effective. Stacking two approved drugs felt safer than using one that is not yet approved. I titrated sema slowly and will consider reta if I stall again.

The main issues I've noticed are burps with a sulfur smell plus loose stools.

SharpMarble67archiveOct 1, 2025

I lost 50 pounds on tirz then stalled with 15-20 left. I have been lowering tirz and raising reta over the last few weeks, now at 10 mg tirz and 4 mg reta. Hunger is higher and I am more likely to eat junk when famished. I have gained 10 pounds back. People say 8 mg reta is the point where it works after maxing tirz, so I am trying to stay on track. The suppression feels different, more like losing interest in food than true appetite control. Adding cag might help.

BrightThistle26archiveOct 1, 2025
↳ replying to @GreyWillow80

You could look into adding cag to tirz or reta. It is said to give strong appetite suppression.

GreyWillow80archiveOct 1, 2025

I am worried about gaining weight like that after working so hard. So far reta makes me indifferent to food, which feels different from tirz suppression. The process is about figuring it out and keeping going. Thanks for the stacking ideas; glad the tirz plus sema combo is working well for you.

Do not be scared, just avoid drinking a lot of alcohol and you should be fine.

There is always the option of tirz plus surv or maz instead.

SharpCinder28archiveOct 3, 2025

There is also the reverse, tirz plus sema, which has already been mentioned.

You seem to be seeing something fairly common where one drug works better for some people. I lost more on reta but had to stop because liver enzymes rose. I went back to tirz.

LevelCompass91archiveOct 4, 2025
↳ replying to @GreyWillow80

I had normal appetite until 6 mg. At 8 mg the weight came off and appetite disappeared. It is just a matter of finding the dose that works for you.

SharpCinder28archiveOct 4, 2025

The difficulty seems to be reaching that dose, which is why people add cag or sema. When moving from tirz to reta it often seems better not to stop tirz completely.

CopperWillow72archiveOct 4, 2025

I am starting reta today but plan to keep tirz as well to manage hunger.

ClearHarbour45archiveOct 4, 2025

When I run reta I add 1 mg sema every five days and it helps a lot with hunger control.

Thanks for the schedule. How did you titrate up to 8 mg? I started at 2 mg last week and have already gained 2 pounds.

WrySparrow78archiveOct 4, 2025
↳ replying to @GreyWillow80

My current reta schedule is 4 mg every three days and my body seems happy with it after three weeks. The skin discomfort is more tolerable than with larger weekly or every-five-days doses. I think the spike from bigger single injections was the issue.

CopperLedger37archiveOct 5, 2025

I think my chance of skin sensitivity is higher than average because I have autism, but I did not experience it on reta. I can find certain fabrics or touches annoying, yet nothing beyond normal.

WrySparrow78archiveOct 5, 2025
↳ replying to @CopperLedger37

Your direct style makes sense now. I do get the skin crawling feeling on thighs, back, and chest, like gout pain. I have OCD but not autism. I will be back after I straighten the silverware drawer.

I followed the schedule of four weeks at each dose until reaching 8 mg. Less food noise started at 6 mg but real progress happened at 8 mg. I lost 30 pounds in eight to ten weeks at that dose and am now at goal, looking for a maintenance level. Trusting the process worked even when early months felt discouraging.

AmberWillow68archiveOct 5, 2025

I am on 8 mg reta weekly and have no food noise. I have to make myself eat and portions are tiny. I went from sema straight to reta, starting at 4 mg for two weeks then moving to 8 mg. I had been on 2.5 mg sema for over a year and hit a big plateau.

BrightWillow80archiveOct 7, 2025
↳ replying to @KeenAlder60

What do maz and surv do? I have heard of them and am curious. I am on 2.5 mg reta, started low to avoid flu-like effects I had with higher tirz doses. Loss is slow but that is fine. Lately food noise has returned and I have been snacking. I am considering adding some tirz or cag. Any thoughts? Reta has helped with inflammation.

You and your little one are doing well, but I am sorry the fatigue, lost workout drive, and slow progress are so hard. You do not have to let your current supply stop you from trying something else. In this market there are always ways to trade or obtain small amounts to test tirz if you want. Many here have done exactly that when one compound stops suiting them.

RustQuill56archiveOct 8, 2025

Maz and surv are more like reta. I do not know much about maz but have tried surv with tirz. They are supposed to give better food-noise control than reta, though I never had much food noise on any of these.

CopperLedger37archiveOct 10, 2025
↳ replying to @KeenAlder60

I do not know what food noise is.

KeenAlder60archiveOct 11, 2025

I am not entirely sure either, but a friend described it as constant hunger and intrusive thoughts about food.
