Eat your PROTEIN!

Summary

How do people hit high daily protein targets while shopping for staples and balancing fiber?

Users describe smoothies blending powder with yogurt and fruit for big single servings, yogurt bowls with berries or granola, ground meats and egg whites in meals, plus beans for dual protein and fiber benefits. They compare bulk shopping experiences at different clubs for convenience and note preferences for certain products like rotisserie chicken or shakes. Some stress adding fiber sources such as quinoa or bran alongside protein goals.

Got two weeks of protein supplies lined up. Keep in mind you will not reach your targets unless you stock up enough in the first place.

I have never noticed that egg white box before. Is that just egg whites in a carton? Do you use it?

I just recently discovered blueberry flavor. Bruhhhhh, so good.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 24

I often went for a simple dessert consisting of blackberries gathered from the wild, granola, and vanilla yogurt. Warming the fruit and waiting until it cooled came before stirring it all together.

NorthTimber67archiveJul 24

I combine three portions of the mix with yogurt and some chilled fruit pieces then stir in water or milk until the texture loosens which weighs one hundred grams for each blended drink I make.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 24

Besides, I munched on plenty of turkey loaf from ground meat once I crafted an excellent method to make it. It worked out nicely accompanied by pureed cauliflower plus a portion of green beans. That shopping cart sure looked nice.

Yes, just pure egg whites in six separate cartons.

IronLantern24archiveJul 25

I feel the same about it. Checking the prices on everything I usually get from each store showed me which option was better overall. They carry that vanilla protein shake I enjoy so much. The boxes of syringes are affordable there as well.

Having held the higher membership tier for a full decade I only recently learned of this benefit. That status provides ten particular generic medications without payment and hundreds of other generics at a low rate. The main conditions cover those ten free options a thirty day quantity cap and the need for the upgraded status. I also rely on the mobile tool to bypass the register line by scanning items myself.

Both sound good.. this seed counts as nutritious since it holds lots of protein fiber plus key minerals. Cooking a portion that weighs 185 grams yields 222 calories with 8 grams protein 39 grams carbs and 5 grams fiber.

WarmCompass44archiveJul 25

There's not a lot of the other club in our area. The nearest one is forty miles away. But I also agree on the chicken sandwich chain part.

Our place already holds an abundance of that roughage. She really enjoys heading to the growers gathering.

These days my meals revolve almost entirely around legumes 😩 The tomato-based bean mix served over toasted bread with garlic flavoring tastes incredible.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 25
↳ replying to @KeenMeadow10

These are my favorite since they come preserved yet already have solid flavor built right in.

I haven't come across those anywhere. Lately I've been making big batches with a pressure cooker while mixing in flavors during the process. The supermarket had lots of discounted swordfish and tuna on special recently and now my freezer holds plenty of them too. ❀️

Seriously? Mine run much cheaper at the warehouse I frequent. Yet that amount is still decent for a hundred units. This conversation has me realizing it's time to grab another pack. In terms of store differences, the chicken dish from one chain outshines the alternative, and their handheld scanner option is excellent. Boy, the checkout line at the other place frequently reaches past the dining section.

GreyFenwick31archiveJul 25
↳ replying to @NorthTimber67

I ought to do that because I can never get enough protein in a day.

IronLantern24archiveJul 25

Not sure if the ones I picked up lately are still the same brand. The bags have the store label on them, and nothing is printed on the syringe itself. They feel just like the other brand I've been using. Maybe that's the cause of the lower price.

AmberSignal47archiveJul 25

My drink lands somewhere between 180 and 300 calories depending on whether I pick regular or sugarless syrup for the caramel and vanilla parts. It delivers 34 grams of protein overall. I combine six ounces of two percent milk with six ounces of cold brewed coffee, then pull a few ounces of the milk aside, stir in vanilla syrup, and froth it into cold foam. A scoop of whey adds fifteen grams of protein while a scoop of collagen contributes nine more, even though the collagen counts as incomplete by itself yet blends fine with the milk and whey. Everything tastes fantastic together. I first sampled something close from a shop and later started preparing it myself so I know every ingredient. I can easily have two or three in one day using only that much cold brew each time, which keeps me from downing the caffeine in nine espresso shots. Once others sample it and get carried away I will gladly accept the praise.

Don't sleep on the protein pudding now at the club. Seventeen grams of protein for only one hundred thirty calories. I usually consume two of them for a filling start to the day.

WarmCompass44archiveJul 25
↳ replying to @WarmCompass27

I'll be on the lookout for that on my next club run.

SlowAnchor19archiveJul 25

Fiber! Tons of it! Wow, fiber!

PlainAlder11archiveJul 25

I never join those warehouse clubs. Decades back my job provided access and we purchased excessively. Those huge pork tenderloins were appealing; we'd carry them back and divide into multiple portions. Butter beans are a favorite of mine in any case, and that particular variety tasted excellent. They complement the ribs I smoke using my outdoor pellet cooker quite nicely. My spouse likes to combine four varieties of legumes inside a large cast-iron vessel, add spices, and then I place that on the cooker while preparing the meat. Thinking about food has made me hungry.

BlueCinder57archiveJul 25

I totally agree with that. Plus, my personal credit card works fine through the mobile application. They never inspect it when I arrive, and only sometimes do they need to check a few products as I'm leaving. Everything flows way better this way.

I moved to the supermarket version of Greek yogurt since it helps lower my expenses quite a lot each month where I live. If that runs out I grab another well known option instead. I'm not into the chain store version at all. They mention building a lean body comes down to seventy five or eighty percent eating habits and I think the same way. Greek yogurt shows up every single day for me. It works as my sweet treat my first meal or something quick between meals. This is what I finish off over thirty days. Sixteen of the big nonfat tubs. Twenty five of the sixteen ounce packs of frozen raspberries. About a dozen boxes of cereal flakes. Sweetener too. The flakes add five grams of protein and seven of fiber. Raspberries give six to nine grams of fiber. They really help everyone out. A twelve ounce pack packs twenty two to twenty seven grams of fiber eighteen grams of sugar and one hundred eighty calories altogether. A couple times a week I go through one full thirty two ounce tub one whole pack of raspberries and about four portions of the flakes plus a few crunchy snacks. That covers everything I eat that day. The numbers work out near eleven hundred forty calories one hundred fifteen grams of protein and forty three grams of fiber. Fiber gets overlooked way more than protein does. You can't build it up the same way people do with protein or sell it the same either. Protein still counts but you only need a decent portion. Thirty to forty grams of fiber daily feels more key to me. It links to living longer too. It's the nutrient everyone ignores the most.

SlowLantern46archiveJul 25

Plain Greek low fat yogurt, add scoop of your favorite protein powder, one hundred fifty grams cooked egg whites, one hundred grams ninety four over six lean beef. So good.

Beans really hit the spot for me. One of my go-to meals is them served on bread. On a journey abroad I found lobio, and it is by far the most luxurious bean-based stew I've come across.

Any ideas for protein powders that mix well into yogurt? Mine always turn out sticky and thick no matter the type, though the casein version is particularly bad. Separately, I'm amazed no one has brought up low-fat cottage cheese yet, as it's really flexible and works for both salty and sugary flavors. Plus, I appreciate how it digests gradually because of the casein content.

ClearLantern70archiveJul 25

The club is all we have around me. It's the best if you are comparing it to regular grocery stores. I wish there were more options.

Missing out on their new two pound bags of chipotle char grilled chicken. Absolute cheat code.

WarmCompass44archiveJul 25
↳ replying to @RustKettle57

I haven't tried that option yet but I intend to test it soon enough. Normally I switch around the key protein sources I eat and turkey mince had been lined up for the coming fortnight. My regular cycle runs through turkey mince then some lean beef mixed with occasional steak cuts then tuna and also a blend of chicken legs plus breasts with no skin or bone. I might add chipotle seasoning the time after when I do chicken again haha.

KeenMeadow10archiveJul 25

I've grabbed my immersion blender and whirred everything straight inside the tub until it turned creamy. Then I ate it as a tangy snack or a pasta topping. That mild tartness actually pairs nicely with ranch if that's what I'm in the mood for.

A pouch with barley and lentils that heats up fast in the microwave ranks high among my choices when I want more protein along with fiber. I toss it into pasta meals, soup pots, vegetable stirs, green salads, or sandwich wraps. Beans deliver plenty of fiber plus protein as well. Cereal made from bran flakes is another favorite, where certain kinds pack twelve grams fiber and ten grams protein mixed with fat-free milk. I toss in unripe bananas for fun too. My consumption of slightly green bananas has gone up following that AMA session. Oatmeal with added whey isolate for extra protein serves as yet another choice, and it has nearly identical flavor. Fruit pieces or chia seeds go in just like they do with the flakes.

There are days when eating seems tough for me and others when it comes easy. Consuming a large protein serving right after my workout takes care of quite a bit in that single meal. Then dealing with a follow up one hours afterward proves simpler than trying to handle that much protein in different ways.

He's logged in lately as far as I can tell, though nothing new from him shows up. We hold onto the bones from our December meat roast, about ten or twelve of them, and turn them into a barley stew with beef. It comes out delicious.
