Growing frustrated and needing some guidance

Summary

Why did retatrutide stop working after the first pen and how can I verify real product and proper dosing?

The original poster had strong appetite suppression and weight loss from one pre-filled pen but zero response from later vials even at higher doses. Participants stress third-party testing such as Janoshik or recent COAs to confirm authenticity, discuss possible reconstitution or injection errors, and note that effects can take weeks to appear. One user later reported success with a new vial after adjusting injection depth and allowing more time.

Why the second and third sources produced no effects even after dose escalation

Hello, I’m new here but not to retatrutide. I first came across it last summer, bought a pre-filled pen, and gave it a try. Pens aren’t the cheapest option, but the results were so good and it lasted over ten weeks that I would have happily bought more at the same price a few times a year. The first time the weight came off easily, I felt great, and both food and alcohol cravings disappeared. I wanted the same experience again so I ordered another pen from a different source but apparently the same maker. This time nothing happened—no weight change, no appetite shift—even after pushing the dose up to 12 mg. It clearly wasn’t the same product. I kept looking and found more from a UK source.

Buy from a source that can show verifiable third-party tests. That’s the only way to be sure, or if you buy a kit of ten vials send one off yourself for testing to confirm what’s actually inside.

SlowTimber14archiveMar 12

With the limited details it’s hard to say exactly what’s going on. You might have built some resistance after starting and stopping, or the later vials might not have contained the real compound. I’m sure others with more experience will have useful thoughts. I’m just here to encourage you for trying to improve your health.

You went from the top trial dose straight down to a very low one and wonder why nothing is happening? There’s a real chance some of the products were fake, which is common in this market. The only way to know for sure is to test them yourself. It would also help to see the exact reconstitution calculations you used, because dosing mistakes are frequent.

I already checked that. The source had a recent batch-specific test result I could verify, and the vial I received was labeled as that batch. Testing one vial out of ten is something I plan to try next if results don’t improve. I just don’t know the proper way to do it yet, which is partly why I’m here.

Can resistance actually develop? I searched online but didn’t find much confirming it, though I’d like to hear what others have experienced.

Sorry for the confusion. On the first pen that worked well I never went above 5 mg a week because I didn’t need to. I only pushed the second one to 12 mg to test whether the problem was dose or product. Since nothing happened I assumed the product. Now with a new source that has solid reputation and verifiable certification I’m wondering if something else is going on. For reconstitution I took a 10 mg vial, added 1 ml of BAC water, and injected 0.25 ml, which should be 2.5 mg. Please correct me if that’s wrong.

QuietHarbour42archiveMar 12

You mentioned pens; legitimate sellers don’t usually sell pens directly. On the first pen, what strength was it and how much were you actually taking? Did the other two come with COAs that could be checked? For the future, locate a vetted seller, preferably one with a domestic warehouse if you’re in the US or EU. Buy a few kits of 10 mg vials, make sure the COA is no older than three months, and consider testing a vial yourself. Follow either the trial dosing schedule or a slower personal one: start at 2 mg, stay there four weeks, then increase by 0.5 mg every fourth week, or sooner if weight loss stalls.

PatientTimber33archiveMar 12

I feel the same frustration. It’s all new to me too. I bought one vial for quite a bit of money and have seen no change in three weeks. Probably injecting baby powder at this point. I’m here to learn and avoid repeating the mistake, so I’m taking all the advice I can get.

PlainAlder11archiveMar 12

You’re jumping around too much. Slow down. Going from 2.5 to 5 to 12 mg quickly isn’t helpful. Spend time reading here and elsewhere about retatrutide instead of listening to random online comments. Start with syringes before thinking about pens. Plenty of people here from the UK are doing it successfully. Use the search feature to find a reliable source that ships to the UK. How are you judging whether it’s working—scale, feeling full, or something else?

I know what a working dose feels like from the first pen, so the lack of any effect stands out. It’s possible the second round simply takes longer to show results. While I give it a bit more time I’ll look around here for another source. Thanks.

PlainAlder11archiveMar 12

I wasn’t trying to be harsh, but the rapid jump from 5 mg to 12 mg surprised me. I’ve been going slower: four weeks at 2 mg, four at 4 mg, and now considering 5 mg after one extra 4 mg pin. I’ll stay at 5 mg for four weeks.

There’s a reviews section where members share experiences with different sources. Look for ones with multiple positive reviews. General advice is never to trust any seller completely, but a few have built decent reputations. Also remember that even at the same weekly milligram amount the total drug in your system keeps rising because of the seven-day half-life. When ordering pens, check how they’re shipped—some say even a few hours at room temperature can ruin the compound.

SteadyQuill55archiveMar 13

There’s also a decent chance the first pen’s effects were partly placebo. It doesn’t mean you imagined everything, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I’ve done the same with things I was excited about. I don’t fight placebo effects because any help is welcome, but I try not to hold later experiences to an impossibly high standard.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 13

One risk is that if the batch you took to 12 mg was fake and you later use a real one at that dose you could feel very unwell. The chance of strong nausea or vomiting is fairly high after such a sudden jump. I don’t believe true tolerance to the weight-loss effects develops, but early tolerance to gastric emptying and nausea can occur. Losing a lot of weight also increases hunger and lowers metabolic rate, which can look like tolerance. Without knowing for certain whether the product is real it’s hard to figure out what’s happening.

The best thing about placebos is that they can still work even when you know they’re placebos.

PlainMarble13archiveMar 18

Quick update. I’ve now done the second 2.5 mg injection from the latest vial and effects are appearing. Appetite suppression is back and the scale is moving the way it does when the compound is working. So at least the product seems genuine this time. Two possible reasons it didn’t work earlier: either it simply needed more time the second round, or I messed up the very first injection. On that first shot the syringe plunger moved on its own once the needle went in; this time I went a little less deep and that didn’t happen. Feeling good overall, which matches the welcome side effect I noticed before.

I’m in a similar spot. I bought a pre-filled pen from a UK reseller and haven’t felt anything—no weight loss at all. I’ve now ordered my first batch of the grey-market version and plan to test a vial myself. I responded well to tirzepatide last year so I was hoping for good results with this too.

This myth has been debunked many times and needs to go away.

I feel the frustration. I’ve spent the last week trying to work out who has stock and who is legitimate. My eyes hurt from all the research. Are the premium sponsors of this forum generally safe to buy from? I’m not even looking for the cheapest price anymore, just don’t want to get ripped off. At this point I’ll take my chances with possible endotoxins.

Retatrutide can take about five weeks to reach full effect. For me there was no scale movement for months, though inflammation and food noise dropped around week six. At 3 mg a week after six months I started losing inches but not pounds. At 4.5–5 mg I finally saw a few pounds come off. I’ve tried the main GLP-1s and for the most part don’t respond much on the scale, yet my body composition has changed noticeably. Yes, I was in a calorie deficit and tracked everything.
