Dosing titration strategies side effects and results for weight loss medication

708 replies361 peopleFeb 3, 2026β˜† Follow
Summary

what dosing approaches work best for steady loss while managing sides stalls and long-term use

Users report starting at 2 mg and titrating to 8-9 mg with holds when sides appear or progress stalls, sometimes splitting doses or stacking with tirz. Many achieve 2-3 lb weekly loss or 10 kg total over months along with appetite control body recomp and strength gains while on TRT, then shift to maintenance. Tolerance varies widely with faster jumps often triggering nausea or fatigue and some preferring to stay at lower effective doses.

Everyone responds differently but from what I've seen many stay at modest amounts without pushing higher. Wondering whether users reach the 12mg level from the studies or mostly benefit earlier on. How long have you been on Reta, where are you in the process, and what's your current amount?

CopperAlder51archiveFeb 3

Month five at 8mg and still dropping weight.

GreyPebble44archiveFeb 3

Month six at 5mg. Planning to go up soon because progress has stalled.

WryTimber41archiveFeb 3

Week five for me at 3mg.

GreyHarbour55archiveFeb 3

On maintenance since May 25. Started with Cagri stacked but stopped it in November after going fifteen pounds past goal. Holding at 3mg once a week and weight is steady.

LevelThistle44archiveFeb 3

Settling at 7mg per week after beginning the switch from Tirz on January 10.

ClearBeacon24archiveFeb 3

8mg split as 4mg every three days.

NorthQuill17archiveFeb 3

Four months on Tirz up to 5mg then switched to Reta at 2mg and titrated to 4mg over four and a half months. Now testing 3mg for maintenance once a week. Total loss forty five pounds.

KeenPebble77archiveFeb 3

Started in September and now at 8mg split twice weekly.

BrightSignal73archiveFeb 3

Five months at 12mg and losing about a kilo each week. Didn't notice much until reaching 6mg.

QuietTimber26archiveFeb 3

4mg every eighty four hours.

SteadyTimber49archiveFeb 3

Five months in at 5mg every five days after starting at 2mg for a month then 4mg for a month then 4mg every five days for two months. This is only the second shot at the new level. Down fifty pounds.

WarmSparrow57archiveFeb 3

Was stalled at 15mg Tirz for six months and switched straight over to 8mg Reta two weeks ago.

SharpWillow20archiveFeb 3

Eleven weeks in at 5mg every six days.

BlueTimber78archiveFeb 3

Twelve weeks done. Kept doses low the whole time averaging around 1.2mg every three days. Now tweaking amount and spacing to reach maintenance probably around three to four milligrams weekly.

GreyBeacon90archiveFeb 4

Began at 2mg the first month then moved to 4mg but still stacking with Tirz so no food noise yet. Will drop the Tirz if I stall and raise Reta then.

AmberCompass48archiveFeb 4

7mg Tirz Friday mornings and 5mg Reta Monday mornings. Never actually hungry but can still eat. Losing three to four pounds weekly. Have seen the two combined in kits and it works well with almost no sides.

IronAnchor48archiveFeb 4

Four weeks in and down sixteen pounds. Week one at 1mg, week two at 1.25mg, week three at 1.5mg, week four at 2mg.

KeenWillow91archiveFeb 4

At 6mg every seven days for about ten weeks now.

IronThistle70archiveFeb 4

On a five day cycle because day four is still okay but day five brings hunger back. Five shots at 1mg then three shots at 1mg plus 1mg Tirz stack. Losing about 2.8lb per week from 220 down to 205 aiming for 190.

SharpKettle11archiveFeb 4

Currently doing 6mg every seven days.

BrightTimber49archiveFeb 4

Currently on 8mg every six days.

NorthQuill76archiveFeb 4

At 15mg of Reta split as 7.5mg on Thursday and Sunday.

SlowThistle17archiveFeb 4

8mg split as two times 4mg. Been on it about twenty seven weeks. Nice to see actual doses here instead of the usual low starting claims.

AmberMarble84archiveFeb 4

Came from high dose Tirz so titrated up over eight weeks to 8mg for two months then dropped to 6mg the last three weeks after getting anhedonia. Close to goal so loss is slow now.

SlowSignal13archiveFeb 4

Started at 1mg yesterday. Already no food cravings and feel full after just a drink. Kind of have to push myself to eat right now.

IronThistle53archiveFeb 4

Started in the new year. First week 0.5mg, second 1.0mg, third 1.5mg then 2mg which I'm on now. Finding hunger returns around day five or six so dosing every five to six days instead of seven. From 98kg down to 92kg and happy to stay here until a stall. Goal is 70kg.

SteadyAnchor73archiveFeb 4

Week nine now at 1mg every three days which keeps roughly 3mg saturation thanks to the half life.

GreenSparrow52archiveFeb 4

Fifth week at 1mg per week. Around days five or six food noise is starting to return so considering an increase. Started at 259 now at 243 this morning. Might try 1mg every three or four days or just move to 2mg weekly after more research.

Would this happen to be your first GLP1? Noticing that people who used Oz or Tirz before switching to Reta don't seem to get the same level of satiety. Just keeping track of this for myself.

KeenCompass55archiveFeb 4

Sixty pounds lost by week eighteen at about 7mg once per week. Was at 8mg but lowered slightly because of anhedonia.

Only a few weeks in but followed the same path. Week one 0.5, week two 1, week three 1.5. Appetite suppression started early but fades by day five or six. Goal was to go slow for better visibility on sides. Sticking to seven day cycle hoping higher dose will make suppression last the full week. If not after a couple months might split dosing but want to try it straight first.

LevelAlder78archiveFeb 4

Started at 0.5mg to check for issues since it's my first GLP1 then 1.0mg the next week and slowly up to 3mg weekly at almost four months. Lost fifteen pounds but only aiming for one pound a week because I'm older to limit loose skin and muscle loss. Want another fifteen pounds.

KeenFenwick10archiveFeb 4

Four and a half months in and just reached 5mg. Losing fat at about 0.8 to 1.5 percent per week which matches my intake and activity. Sides minimal though heart rate went up a bit but it's fine.

WarmHarbour15archiveFeb 4

Got to goal with good results by titrating up to 3mg every other day.

Yes this is my first GLP1. Only ever lost weight the usual way before and surprised how well it's working so far.

Suspicion confirmed, thanks. Hope it brings you lots of good outcomes. By the way, a roughly six-month stall got me looking into weight loss meds and eventually led here and then to grey sources. I think I mentioned in one of my early posts that I planned to spend a week learning about peptides, and someone replied I'd need more than that. They were right. Still learning.

Curious what app you’re using to track your shots?

I find it hard to accept that kind of weekly rate being described as cautious.

NorthThistle22archiveFeb 4

Started my Reta journey back in September 25. Began at 0.5mg and was glad I did since it gave me a real result from such a low amount. A couple weeks later moved to 1mg, then a few weeks on 2mg and so on. Took a two-week break over the holidays and restarted early 26. Since then appetite suppression has been weak so I moved up to 4mg over a few weeks. Still on week 2 of 4mg and not getting much suppression. I'll stick with it and maybe go to 5 soon. Weight loss is modest compared to some but that wasn't the main goal. Down about 9kg from around 20% BF at the start. It was only meant as an aid in my cutting schedule, but it made things so easy I kept going and now have a whole kit in the freezer.

Labels like moderate depend on who's involved. For an individual settled into these medications while consuming proper protein amounts and sticking to workouts, the pace comes across as normal.

Haha, I really appreciate that! At the start I felt somewhat concerned, since my PCOS makes shedding pounds more difficult. On top of everything, I'm quite fond of eating, so that didn't help either. I'm genuinely glad things seem to be moving along fine for now. I keep wondering how this path will unfold ahead, and I want to shed those extra twenty kilograms that have been bothering me. Hoping you reach your targets too! You make a good point though. I spent several weeks checking into the topic before getting the peptides, and I still pick up new details every day. The other day one of them left me with ringing in my ears for roughly ten minutes, which felt odd and caught me off guard πŸ˜›

QuietThistle43archiveFeb 4

I've been using tirz starting from October at a steady 5mg each week. Three weeks back I began reta with 2mg after spacing it three days past the prior tirz shot. I gave myself two of those 2mg injections then moved to 4mg the week before. Now I'm planning to lower the tirz amount by a couple mg at a time while shifting to 6mg reta on the next injection. The pace runs a bit quicker than the trial schedule yet I've handled it fine so far.

LevelThistle44archiveFeb 4

Calling something not extreme doesn't make it moderate. The weekly rate you described ranges from point eight to one point five percent, and that's quite a spread. Over those nineteen weeks it adds up to losing fourteen to twenty-five percent of what you called fat, though I doubt that's pure body fat. Nobody should read that and assume it's a mild or standard amount.

ClearSparrow87archiveFeb 4

I started with Sema before moving over to Tirz. Early this year I changed to Reta and raised the amount fast up to 8 milligrams since my system handles it fine and the results felt strong. After five weeks at that level the appetite control seems less strong so tomorrow I will increase to 10 milligrams. I also combine it with 2 milligrams of Sema but on separate days with Sema on Mondays and Reta on Thursdays. I tend to push doses higher without much hesitation and have no issue exceeding typical guidelines because I handle the effects well yet lose responsiveness fast. For me the approach of moving ahead quickly while keeping things balanced health-wise works out best.

People mix up the idea of something not being over the top with it being cautious, treating those as fixed categories instead of depending on the situation. The speed I mentioned fits my own starting point, what I eat, and how active I am, and wasn't intended for everyone. Projecting that percentage each week straight across 19 weeks overlooks how the body adjusts its burning rate and that dropping pounds isn't all from fat. I never said this speed is average or safe for all. It just worked out as cautious in my particular setup.
