Alcohol, HR and sweating

Summary

Does retatrutide plus alcohol raise heart rate and trigger sweating or hot flashes?

Several users report stronger heart-rate spikes and noticeable sweating after drinking while on low-dose reta. One person links the effect to perimenopause, another to reduced body weight and slower alcohol absorption, and a third simply states the two amplify each other. Metabolic details about GIP activity and temporary suppression of fat oxidation are mentioned but not settled.

Since I began a small 1 mg amount of Reta, any alcohol now pushes my heart rate up and makes me sweat heavily. During a walk we stopped for a glass of wine; twenty minutes after getting home my resting rate was still higher and I was perspiring. The same thing happened at a football game last week. Has anyone else noticed hot flashes when they combine alcohol with reta?

Alcohol by itself can trigger hot flashes once you reach the typical age for them, and caffeine does the same. I had already entered perimenopause before I began reta, and the flashes did not become any stronger after I started the peptides.

As my calories dropped and the weight came off, alcohol started affecting me in new ways. The lower body mass makes it hit harder and move through the system more slowly, so you become a cheaper date. The sweating probably comes from both the heat alcohol generates and the GIP action from tirzepatide.

I figured the sweats were behind me, but maybe they are not after all.

When alcohol is oxidized it creates a short thermic bump yet at the same time it stops fat oxidation. The acetate that builds up halts lipolysis, so the body uses the alcohol for heat and energy and puts fat burning on pause. That means I gave up fat burning just to have the drink? Hopefully it clears fast so I can get back to it.

From what I understand the GIP part of reta is three times stronger per milligram than in tirzepatide, so one milligram of reta is like adding three milligrams of tirzepatide's GIP effect. Tirzepatide has also been shown to raise energy expenditure for a while and improve fat oxidation early on, largely because of that GIP activity.

Reta definitely boosts sweating and heart rate, and alcohol does the same. In my experience the two effects multiply each other.

It does clear fairly fast. When I followed Atkins I found I could return to ketosis soon after the alcohol was gone, and clear spirits seemed to disturb it less than beer.

I used that idea in the past to excuse drinking on keto. The calories supposedly do not count once you factor in thermogenesis, though I never really believed it.

I do not get any sweating, and I hardly ever sweat even when working outside in summer. My resting heart rate returned to 72 after forty weeks. Beer does seem to affect me more now, probably because of the sixty pounds I have lost.
