Reta reduced my enthusiasm for dating

40 replies28 peopleAug 22, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does retatrutide cause anhedonia that kills interest in dating, social life, and everyday pleasures?

Multiple users report a flat emotional state, reduced libido, and loss of excitement around dates or hobbies while on reta, with some noting similar effects on tirz. A few found relief by lowering the dose or switching medications, while others view the dampened desires as a positive trade-off for calm and fewer cravings. Experiences differ on whether the spark returns and what might help restore it.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some see the emotional flattening as beneficial and worth keeping, while others find it unwelcome and want to reverse it without quitting the medication

Whether the lost spark reliably returns over time or with specific adjustments

Nothing here is advice.

This treatment seems to be stripping away my usual personality and wrecking my romantic connections. In the past I came across as lively, upbeat, and fully present when meeting potential partners. Lately that drive has disappeared and I just feel drained. Potential dates show much less interest than before. It removes any enjoyment from meals while also dulling my broader sense of motivation and physical attraction. Has this kind of emotional numbness, reduced interest in being around others, or lowered intimate desire shown up for anyone else? Did the old enthusiasm return eventually?

I could test that out and then share what I find later on... best of luck

Lots of people notice this loss of pleasure while using either of those meds. Which option bothers them less seems to vary. I handle one of them with slightly fewer problems than the other, though I'm still far from my earlier lively self. Going out and connecting with others holds much less appeal now. Checking out tools, project materials or random secondhand items used to be enjoyable, but lately it all feels pointless.

I've seen mentions of things like Kisspeptin and PT-141 and ended up wanting to dig deeper myself.

LevelWillow41archiveAug 22

You seem like someone who might benefit from moving across to tirz and checking whether the situation turns out better.

SteadySignal69archiveAug 22

I've stopped craving sugary treats and processed snacks, and now even a carrot sounds appealing. My enthusiasm for films, shows, and video games has faded too. Being at a lower weight feels great, and I trust these changes will fade eventually, either naturally or after reaching my steady point.

Oxytocin and Mots-C as well. Have you added an exercise routine to keep up your energy?

SteadyAnchor13archiveAug 22

My experience with it shifts over time, sometimes feeling milder and at other points more intense.

Yeah I train under a coach and spend time on plenty of uphill trails on foot.

RustLantern55archiveAug 22

About two months back I tried combining reta with my usual tirz and ran into strong anhedonia. Dropping the reta made the problem disappear. Plenty of people seem wild about reta yet it just doesn't work for me. I feel better staying with straight tirz.

GreenSignal63archiveAug 22

Yeah this compound genuinely seems to dull my usual enthusiasm for pastimes so now I'm checking into a different option hoping it might restore some of my motivation.

NorthFenwick56archiveAug 22

Maybe that's the reason it's helpful with dependencies, as it seems to calm down those strong urges. At the beginning, for several weeks, the effect was quite noticeable and pleasant, shifting my mind from turmoil to calmness, allowing clearer thoughts. However, after getting accustomed to the substance, those fluctuations are returning. It provides a sense of calm while reducing those compulsive behaviors, which I find acceptable. Having used it for about ten weeks, I want to observe further how my body adjusts. Some of those urges are reappearing, and since I prefer things in moderation, I'm thinking about incorporating another similar compound to maintain equilibrium as the amount goes up, which might also reduce cravings for eating. It's really about finding the right equilibrium.

The identical issue happened to me too, and decreasing the amount by a tiny bit brought back the excitement in a big way. Being female, I checked into how that compound affects hormone levels and decided against using it due to concerns with estrogen output. I started by cutting back on the quantity and noticed improvement, otherwise products such as 5HTP really lifted my spirits.

QuietAnchor10archiveAug 22

My experience has been the total reverse. Taking both those things, my system is handling them positively. Energy levels, clear thinking, overall mood and drive have all risen. A special treat now tastes amazingly strong, making it feel like a real reward instead of a habit for dealing with feelings. Looking into progesterone revealed some useful insights for me.

I looked over all the items last spring and saw nothing amiss. When it comes to meals I pull open the refrigerator, scan what is inside, and shut it right away. I have no desire at all to consume a single item because nothing draws me in. My view of possible partners matches that exactly.

Maybe it's because I'm older, so excuse me if the question comes across as foolish. When agreeing to go out with someone, does their appearance appeal to you? It's comparable to removing a meal from the cooler, placing it before you, only to realize it no longer seems appetizing. I discovered some suggestions through a search engine, and in my case, when exhausted, nothing seems appealing, which could serve as an initial consideration.

SteadyPebble24archiveAug 22

When I spend time with guys there's zero excitement left in me and they all come across as dull. Previously my pulse would quicken from anticipation along with a sense of mutual interest and my own appeal. At meals I force down proteins produce vegetables and healthy fats simply to keep muscle yet nothing tastes good anymore.

Wasn't aiming to chuckle but the line I keep repeating after splits is that greater options exist out there with laughing emojis a fitting match will appear and you shall reply back

The third reply has some references that seem connected to what you're going through.

QuietBramble77archiveAug 22

This side effect showed up for me on Tirz. It shows up on reta as well, though milder. Nothing has helped me handle it so far. Testing my iron levels showed anemia, and that condition made the anhedonia stronger.

SharpWillow45archiveAug 22

It's a mixed blessing. Avoiding booze entirely while staying super disciplined with workouts. Still, zero interest in heading outside to savor the warm weather or hanging out with people. Planning to stop using it come November so I can regain some size and then observe the results. Might experiment with a different compound after that.

AmberSignal47archiveAug 22

At over fifty years old this outcome appeals to me. Back when I was thirty my perspective could shift if family planning mattered before beginning this treatment and then changing my mind. I've discovered that pursuing relationships proves troublesome and losing interest in them has resolved the issue in an alternative way. It corrected the problem in a manner of speaking. Overall it evens the highs and lows and I appreciate that.

SteadyPebble24archiveAug 22

My blood test from May showed no anemia and overall great health. I'm 5'6 tall and weigh 135 pounds. Life has gradually turned into a dull, grayscale film. I own nice clothes and have a balanced figure, finally joining the group of attractive women. I came across information on anhedonia along with semax and intend to investigate further. On a rational level, I recognize this isn't the existence I desire. I won't stop using Reta.

IronLantern24archiveAug 22

Yeah, I agree with that view completely. Romance holds no appeal for me right now. What I truly want is to recover my drive for sorting through the rooms at home. This lack of enjoyment stands out as the single drawback from the condition. Shedding pounds was always aimed at restoring enough stamina to handle the daily chores.

IronLantern24archiveAug 22
↳ replying to @GreenSignal63

I'd love an update once you give them a try. Been mulling over whether to include semax and selank in my own routine.

AmberSignal47archiveAug 22

The effects vary wildly in interesting ways. Straightening my home feels much more efficient these days compared to usual without that stimulant. I should probably stop at some point to verify whether the enjoyment is real or not lol. But I doubt I'm mistaken.

GreyFenwick31archiveAug 22

I've been taking myself out lately instead of seeing other people. It could be that my recent dates just aren't doing it for me.

QuietAnchor10archiveAug 22
↳ replying to @SteadyPebble24

It turned out not to be my thing at all. Everything became really unexciting because of it. I gave some other GLP a shot after that.

NorthFenwick56archiveAug 22

When those effects peaked I felt totally mellow without any appetite or romantic urges. A strange sense of ease came over me with nothing to fret about. I stayed put with my beverage watching one painting demonstration after the next and felt so content. It made my anhedonia fade away completely and I loved every moment.

SharpBramble80archiveAug 22

These feelings might stem from something else completely. They started long before I tried anything new at all. Our world these days just seems that way overall. Sort of flat and uninteresting. It could be only my own view. At forty four I've already gone through plenty in life.

I wonder if every single guy fits that stereotype of young dudes in checkered tops with facial hair, unemployed and staying downstairs at their mother's house. It looks like solid thinking instead. This is just meant as a bit of fun, so hopefully those guys skip the sarcastic replies.

SteadyPebble24archiveAug 23

Both of those caused severe gut reactions in my case. The other one was fantastic instead. I have no plans to stop using it. Searching around for anything that might help with losing interest in things.

I suppose she goes after working men with vehicles yet those usually come with a spouse and all the complications that follow.

ClearWillow59archiveAug 23

I snack on genuine cocoa treats ahead of romantic outings. This raises the bonding chemical tied to affection while also triggering reward signals in the brain. Something like that. Holding eye contact with others creates similar effects. I compiled notes on various mood boosters elsewhere but feel wiped out at the moment.

SlowAnchor19archiveAug 23
↳ replying to @SteadyPebble24

These days it might just be the guys around. Strength training has always ramped up my motivation and wants in that area. I get your situation and hope things turn out okay. If the guy I'm with now ends things I'm done with relationships after that. Pursuing romance hasn't seemed worthwhile lately though wanting closeness is just part of being human. 💕

IronLantern24archiveAug 23

I really don't think that's possible at all. 🤣

LevelAlder34archiveAug 23

Dealing with the issue has prompted me to explore fresh activities and move past familiar habits while using oxytocin in nasal form.

PatientTimber39archiveAug 26

Have you been creating the oxytocin nose spray on your own or did you get it premixed and prepared for application?

SteadyPebble24archiveAug 26

I'm having doubts if ashwaganda is for me.
