Taking your shot every 5 days?

46 replies24 peopleMay 4, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Is dosing tirzepatide or retatrutide every 5 days better than weekly for controlling hunger and food noise?

Multiple users report hunger and food noise returning around day 5 on a 7-day schedule, leading them to switch to full doses every 5 or 6 days or to split doses. This approach maintains steadier appetite suppression for many without reported ill effects, though some prefer stacking compounds or titrating up instead. The weekly schedule appears driven more by convenience and compliance than by pharmacology. Travel and daily routines complicate non-standard intervals for some.

I always notice the snacking urge kicking in after five days no matter how much I increase the amount, so I am considering just doing the shot every five days instead. Has anyone tried that approach?

LevelThistle44archiveMay 4

People usually refer to that as split dosing.

Are you splitting your dose then? I was thinking of taking the whole thing every five days instead.

My rats follow a four-day schedule. I use less overall when splitting but it is not exactly half.

There is a lot of discussion already on split dosing. Taking a full dose every five days would equal about 1.4 times your current weekly total.

Check your total calories for the week first. Extra snacking on two out of five days could either help or hurt depending on your overall deficit and macros.

WarmHarbour28archiveMay 4

It started for me because I had half-milliliter syringes. I would pin a bunch on day five and then more on day seven. The official sheet says weekly but that alone can spark arguments. If you can afford it you can pin whatever amount whenever you want, just avoid landing in the hospital.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 4

What amount are you actually using now? You mention the urge stays even at higher amounts, but maybe you are not as high as you think. I would try raising the weekly total before splitting, though splitting itself does not seem wrong.

AmberCinder46archiveMay 4

I am in the three-and-a-half-day group and have done it on both compounds. With the full dose I could hardly eat or drink for the first few days, then the last day and a half I would suddenly feel starving and eat anything.

PlainTimber26archiveMay 4

After the first month I moved to two point five every six days and it suited me better because day seven left me too hungry. When I went up to five I returned to every seven days since more had built up and hunger stayed controlled.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 4
↳ replying to @NorthBramble37

That is still a low amount. Why not go higher?

CopperMarble49archiveMay 4

Have you tried other compounds that hit hunger harder? Since this is a common complaint I assume you are on the one known for that. Once split dosing is settled you could add something stronger on hunger rather than pushing higher on the current one. You might do fine with five weekly plus a stronger suppressor a few days later.

NorthBramble37archiveMay 4
↳ replying to @WarmMeadow92

It works fine the rest of the week and I already struggle to hit enough protein. I want to get everything I can from this amount before going up, otherwise weight loss might slow, plus I do not have a syringe larger than one hundred units.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 4

Sounds like you have a plan. Plenty of people pin twice a week or on other intervals without problems. The seven-day rule seems more about making it simple for patients than anything about how the receptors work.

PlainAlder11archiveMay 4
↳ replying to @NorthBramble37

Need a syringe bigger than one milliliter? Just do two shots as people mentioned for splitting. You could also use less bac water to keep the volume down while still getting the desired amount.

PlainMeadow55archiveMay 5

My appetite control drops and food noise rises around day five, so I just do the full dose every five days. It works so I am staying with it.

PlainMeadow55archiveMay 5

That matches what I think too. It is simplest to tell patients to pin weekly on the same day. Most people already struggle with even simple medication schedules, so odd-day instructions would probably lead to more mistakes. Prescribers prefer the safer advice.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 5

Medication adherence has been low for decades. The WHO called it a global issue back in the early 2000s and studies still show roughly half of people do not follow prescriptions, costing healthcare systems hundreds of billions yearly from extra hospital stays. Pinning every five days would need an app for reminders. I could not manage it because I travel too much and am rarely in the same spot every five days.

AmberCinder46archiveMay 5

I have a six-day trip in two weeks and am already a bit stressed about pinning the full dose and possibly ruining the first two days. For a longer trip to Spain in July with four different places I am ordering a small five-milligram kit and three-milliliter bac waters to reconstitute on the spot. It is not the cheapest but worth it for consistency and peace of mind. The rest of my supply can wait.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @AmberCinder46

Most of my travel is domestic but I am on a flight to Europe right now with my supply in a cooler. You do what you need to. You could transfer what you need into a new vial instead of buying a small kit. I have also shifted my pin day by a day or two when needed.

I just grab the imported gnocchi at the dollar store, but you do you.

ClearHarbour45archiveMay 5

I do every five or six days and am currently on ten of one with six of the other. I used to do ten of the second and six of the first but I like feeling disgusted at the thought of eating. It is not the smartest or healthiest mindset but it works for me.

ClearMeadow73archiveMay 5

I was doing one every six days because hunger returned by day seven at seven point five. On the other compound I would get strong morning hunger pangs that then faded. Now I am trying zero point seven five on Monday and seven point five of the first on Thursday for two weeks to see how it balances. I woke up hungry today though. I will wait another week or two before changing anything. I also ate dinner at two thirty yesterday.

ClearHarbour45archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearMeadow73

Good you mentioned that. I get night hunger pangs too. I get up, take the pills early, head out, and then I am not hungry for about three and a half hours before it passes.

ClearMeadow73archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

For me it only lasts a few minutes, not long enough to actually want food. By first thing I mean around four in the morning.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

I have been pinning eighteen weekly of one and added four of the other last Friday while dropping the first to twelve. I am not sure yet if I like using less of the first one. It is still early. I planned to add another two yesterday but skipped it because I have not felt great. So far I think I prefer the feel of the first over the second, and even the older one over the second. That is why I understand reversing the amounts rather than the other way around.

Work trip so not on my own dime. I get my Italian fix at the chain place.

ClearHarbour45archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearMeadow73

Same here. That one wipes me out for a day or so about twenty-four hours after the pin. I am still in the prefer that one club but I always use some of the other too.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

I have not given up on the second one yet but maybe only as a stack. I think I need some of the glucagon effect. Even at four it has raised my resting heart rate and my ring and watch are reacting to it.

QuietAlder25archiveMay 6

Right before hitting my goal weight I was pinning twenty every five days. I like the anti-inflammatory boost from a strong dose along with the appetite control.

WarmMeadow92archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @QuietAlder25

That is what I always planned to do, push the first one as high as needed even to twenty-five. But around fifteen to seventeen my loss slowed and I felt like I was stalling. What are you using now for maintenance?

QuietAlder25archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @WarmMeadow92

Twelve of it every seven days now. It feels like the right balance for maintenance.

WarmAlder42archiveMay 6

I need to read this thread. I have been plateaued since the end of the year. I am still only at twelve to thirteen of one and feel like going to the posted max would be admitting defeat. I want success at the lowest effective amount. After seventeen months and nearly reaching my goal I might finally go higher because of the remaining body fat I can still grab. Reducing it and adding the other compound earlier this year did not help and I disliked the sides.

WarmCinder52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Ten every six days here too, though not on the other one. It may not be the healthiest approach but after spending most of my life obsessed with food it is nice to have that shut off and find it unappealing.

RustAnchor35archiveMay 17

I switched to a five-day schedule because the last two days on seven were rough. Food noise would return especially with daily gym visits. On the five-day schedule it has not crept back.

You have more patience than I do with these posts. This question comes up multiple times a day as if there is no search function. If I ignored every new person asking about splitting I would never meet any new users at all.

It is called Eternal September. It began with new users arriving every September when school started, but now it is nonstop. A constant stream of newcomers. This is not a simple forum where an FAQ covers everything.

AmberWillow47archiveMay 26

Same here. I have been pinning every five days from the beginning.

Five days is the sweet spot for me. I track shot dates on a physical calendar with foil star stickers. I give myself the stars now for wellness tasks since I did not get many in school.

I was a gifted kid in a regular classroom who read ahead and got bored. I did homework while others handed theirs in. They were frustrated with kids who were behind. I took extra classes to finish a year early and have never regretted it.

BrightBeacon40archiveMay 29
↳ replying to @NorthBramble37

Every five days of the second one for me.

AmberCinder46archiveMay 29
↳ replying to @PatientAnchor43

For me the first one suppresses appetite far more than the second. I had no notable sides beyond the usual ups and downs from weekly shots. I started the second for the metabolic effects. On it I can order a normal meal instead of just a kid's portion. I split the second to keep a steady feeling and alternate with split doses of the first as a handbrake on appetite. Currently two times four of the second plus two times two point five of the first for six weeks. It is working well, about two point five kilos a month.
