retatrutide weight loss results while quitting smoking and changing lifestyle habits

One user reports dropping 29.2 kg over 19 weeks on an accelerated retatrutide schedule after quitting smoking cold turkey. Progress is attributed to combined factors including calorie tracking, though appetite effects felt milder than expected. Others note similar experiences with smoking cessation causing temporary rebound weight gain and discuss long-term maintenance plans including continued low-dose use for non-weight benefits.

Age 29, started at 139.4 kg down to 110.2 kg at 6'1". BIA body fat went from 42% to 29.1% though those numbers are questionable. Waist at the navel dropped from 48 to 43 inches. First injection was March 16th 2026 at 2 mg split, then moved up on an accelerated schedule to 4 mg after two weeks, 8 mg after four, and 12 mg after five before switching to once-weekly dosing at week six. My whole routine flipped around the same time so the results aren't purely from the medication. I also stopped smoking after ten years and have been off it for 341 days now, which means a lot of healing is happening separately. I'm still adding more changes so it will get harder to isolate the drug's contribution. Appetite suppression hasn't matched what I anticipated but my tracked calories over the last 64 days indicate I'm eating less anyway.

That's incredible! Really proud of you.

Solid results. I notice that people who quit smoking often end up gaining weight.

I gained too. It felt like a short-term rebound effect though. I know I added at least 10 kg right after I stopped.

Wow, great results and really motivating. Also nice that your D3 supplement includes K2 since a lot of people miss that it helps with absorption and otherwise get little benefit from D3 by itself.

KeenPebble33archiveJul 28

Well done. That's strong progress over just 19 weeks.

Wow you're doing great. You're the perfect example of going all in at once. Normally I'd say the pace is too quick but in your situation it makes sense because you're attacking everything together. Do you have a target weight in mind? And do you have any idea which of these big changes you'll ease off once you get there? With how well it's going your plan for after will matter soon.

Thanks! I actually agree it was too fast but I'm a bit reckless and like taking unnecessary risks so I don't usually do anything halfway. By exit strategy I assume you mean adjusting calories and how I use the medication. I want to reach 12% body fat even if that's arbitrary, and at that point I'll move to maintenance calories and fine-tune macros. I don't plan to stop the medication though. I'll experiment to find the lowest effective dose since I rushed titration before, and maybe try spacing shots every two weeks. I've read about GLP-1 benefits like protecting cartilage, helping tendon repair, and lowering inflammation that aren't tied to weight, so I don't want to miss those.

Wow, congratulations on the progress, it's really inspiring.

Sounds like we share the same general approach. For me exit strategy means whatever adjustments you'll make once you're at goal. A lot of people probably assume that means stopping the GLP-1s, but I'm with you on staying on retatrutide at some level for the same non-weight reasons you mentioned. I'll keep the exercise and the medication and probably loosen the diet a bit. You're doing great, thanks for posting about it.

Amazing, well done πŸ‘ What did your weight do month by month after you started? How fast did the drop begin?

CopperSignal27archiveAug 2

Well done. The speed of loss usually slows as you get closer to target unless calories are cut more, which can make things less sustainable. Similar to my own experience dropping 6 kg a month for the first 55 kg from 145 down to 90, after which it slowed. I wasn't on retatrutide and wasn't exercising much, both of which help keep energy expenditure up as weight falls. BMI of 25 at 6'1" is roughly 80 kg, so if that's near your aim you're looking at another 59 kg or about 44% total reduction from 135 kg. That's above the average from the strongest retatrutide study at 29%, but given your results so far you might still reach it before a plateau sets in.

Thanks! I wasn't logging consistently before, but I have a few readings like 126.2 kg on November 22nd 2025. I quit smoking mid-August last year and put on noticeable weight afterward though I don't have exact figures, so I was probably under 120 kg beforehand. My highest was 139.4 kg in March when I began the medication. The graph I shared shows weight climbing overall since last year with gaps in January and February, then a steady monthly decline starting from the March start date. Cheers. Congrats on your own 55 kg without any GLP-1, that must have been challenging. Yeah I'm expecting a plateau soon enough and will deal with it then.

Thanks, the smoking is something I still need to deal with too. I've quit before but it was a while ago. I need to wait until my weight is more stable because I tend to try fixing everything at the same time and then end up failing at all of it πŸ˜†
