I'm about six months in and expect another three to five months to hit my target based on body-fat numbers. After that the idea is to drop to a steady holding level. If sides stay low I don't see much reason to switch things up. Having a couple of backup choices ready is fine, but chasing the newest option doesn't matter once the goal is just staying where you are.

Well put. Once people hit their goal they can use the new habits to keep the lower intake or add movement they couldn't manage before. And if what's already stored works fine there's no need to chase something ten times stronger.

WryThistle17archiveMay 30

I haven't looked into it much but isn't it quite costly? I only caught a few mentions and the price came up each time. Or does that change once it moves past the early stage like the others did?

IronLantern24archiveMay 30

Right now the cost is high because demand is huge and some places have long wait lists. Things should settle and become more reasonable once the initial rush passes.

I go through my doctor for some of these and for TRT. The testosterone comes from a compounding spot with the exact amount listed. The same for the one version I get through him. Other items I source elsewhere but those also list the amounts so I can measure properly when mixing. I won't touch anything that doesn't give the quantity up front.

Plenty of guys across age groups push these substances. I'm only thirty-one but it bothers me when older ones who should know better encourage younger adults. It just feeds body-image problems and weakens self-control. I've said before that I only moved to the compounded versions and then the gray option after trying every usual route first: diet, training, thyroid treatment, hormone replacement, orlistat, phentermine, and combinations of them. It took some honest self-check and swallowing pride to finally try the GLP route.

There's a wellness spot my gym promotes that offers a bunch of gray-market items including this one.

SteadySparrow75archiveMay 30

I've been on another niche site for thirty years that was always supposedly about to get banned or regulated. It could still happen, but the same warnings have been repeated for three decades.

SteadyQuill55archiveMay 30

People really are bad with numbers, reading, and double-checking. I know this; it's not news to me and I don't even have standing to be angry about it anymore. I've built a good living by teaching and reminding that folks mess up these basics. I own my place because of how often people skip the simple checks. I can't get upset at someone who got odd instructions, asked once, and went ahead without spending ten minutes online to verify. That's exactly why I have the life I do. Still, it wears on me sometimes.

That made me laugh hard, though I was genuinely annoyed with Stephen King over the ending. It was too convenient that the character wanted to die so the easy choice could happen without guilt.

Even worse, she checked with a representative and got confirmation it was right before the actual prescriber corrected it.

The story focused on compounders, which is what the big manufacturer is upset about. It has nothing to do with completely illegal street sources. An IQ-gated marketplace would be nice but that's not the subject here. Gray probably does attract more careful buyers, though that's not saying much. It's only gray because these aren't scheduled substances; otherwise it's comparable to the steroid scene. Even someone who thinks they're sharp can be careless on the first buys. Most of us understand the risks; a typical customer from a mainstream telehealth service does not.

SteadyQuill55archiveMay 30
↳ replying to @PlainAnchor17

Yes, it really was. She had a provider listed on paper and nothing more. Getting it through those telehealth routes is basically gray with a few extra steps and supposedly cleaner mixing, and anyone who doesn't see that shouldn't be doing it. You fill out a form, they send the items, some doctor signs off after a quick look if at all, and it ships. Mistakes and scandals are built in because it's not actual medical care; it's a workaround to avoid huge brand prices. People who treat it as real trustworthy care are the ones who can get hurt. The real alternatives are paying brand rates, using local compounders after seeing an actual doctor, or just dealing with the health risks of staying heavy. It's a lousy set of choices but that's the situation and it's going to get rougher.

Does anyone else remember when they were going to regulate vitamins? Or when they tried to ban one particular supplement only for it to show up everywhere again? They aren't going to make these compounds disappear either.

I don't want to lecture but it's surprising how many people can't handle basic arithmetic or a simple dilution. These sites even provide calculators for how much liquid to add to a 10 mg vial to reach a certain concentration. It's just division.

This brings back memories of a weight-loss place I used. The staff there gave terrible advice. One week I showed a two-pound fat gain on their scan despite sticking to the plan, and they blamed carbs. You'd need thousands of extra calories in a single week to add that much pure fat.

PatientFenwick55archiveMay 30

My doctor once said he wouldn't suggest compounded versions because they're risky without the pen devices. He mentioned a patient who took eighty units instead of eight. People really act like it's the pen or nothing. I almost pointed out that vials from the maker exist but didn't want the argument. He only wanted to prescribe the pens. Makes you wonder if there's some incentive. The same thinking shows up in these hit pieces: their way or no way. Plenty of people have used compounded versions without big reports of accidental overdoses. The problems can be fixed instead of tossing everything and forcing everyone onto the expensive brand.

I heard that option is pricey and difficult to source. One of the group-buy sources I use is planning something with it for July.

WarmAnchor46archiveMay 30

I think that place needs better labeling equipment. That might explain why the overseas sources skip giving any dosing guidance at all.

There's always something newer. That's what keeps people interested, at least until other side effects start showing up.

That's exactly how it feels, like they're doing everything to lock you in. That kind of pressure is exactly what makes me want to look elsewhere. It's my body and I should know what's going into it.

I began with a telehealth setup that I'm continuing with while waiting for my delivery. Fortunately the bottles had both mg and units marked. I stuck to the prescribed amount, feel great, and dropped several pounds. I used the same one my coworkers did and it turned out fine.

Yeah I agree. You need critical thinking and some computer skills to handle the steps for this path. Definitely requires a bit of smarts, and I'm thankful this place helps keep ours sharp! 🤣

George Carlin said something like, consider how dumb the typical person is, then remember that half are even dumber than that.
