All time total vial taken into account, about how long do you keep reta on average before moving on to the next vial?

40 replies22 peopleJul 15, 2026ā˜† Follow
Summary

How long do people keep reconstituted retatrutide vials before switching, factoring in degradation and total use?

Users generally aim for 4-8 weeks per reconstituted vial, with some stretching to 90 days or beyond based on personal results and available charts. Smaller starting vials or splitting larger ones are common to limit repeated punctures and exposure. Overfill is noted as a buffer against modest degradation, though opinions differ on acceptable timelines and the balance between time and pin count.

I'm nearing the 90-day point with my vial still over half full, but I'm thinking of stopping now. It feels like it might be losing potency, though that could just be because I haven't increased my dose yet. How long is everyone else keeping theirs before switching?

What size vial in mg and what dose are you currently using?

PlainAnchor67archiveJul 15

For all the peps I get vials sized to last 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8.

SharpTimber40archiveJul 15

Two months is my max. With something like a 60mg vial I'd split it into three separate 20mg vials.

I was waiting on a few things but I think I'll also move to 8 weeks. It's just a feeling but I do think it's been less effective lately.

Dumb question, how do you divide it evenly and why not just keep it all in one vial? Do you like to dilute more?

NorthWillow72archiveJul 15

You can reconstitute the whole amount then transfer portions to sterile vials. For example if aiming for 60mg in 6ml you add 2ml to the original, mix, move that to a larger 10ml vial and add 4ml more, then split 2ml portions into new vials. Each ends up holding 20mg in 2ml. The benefit is using fresh vials as needed instead of one vial getting 10-15 punctures. Smaller kits are simpler until doses increase. Reta shows degradation around that timeframe so smaller mass kits help at those doses.

Yep. At the moment it's five milligrams every seven days, which calls for those thirty milligram containers. In cold storage I keep sets of twenty, fifteen and ten, prepared for the gradual drop to a steady amount later on. If things level out near one milligram per week, I'd need the smaller five milligram versions instead, funny enough.

I don't see how splitting helps since the clock starts at reconstitution either way. I'm also with the 8-week approach. There is data for tirz and sema out to 90 days but nothing specific yet for reta.

Every needle entry into the vial creates a chance for bacteria to get in and grow, so the idea is to finish one vial before opening the next.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @NorthSignal16

Exactly that point. Ideally buy the right size to finish in about 60 days. Especially with reta since one chart showed notable degradation at the 45-day mark.

QuietFenwick11archiveJul 16

I've used reconstituted 60mg vials from over 4 months ago and they still worked with only minimal loss since I could hold my weight on the same dose.

Any chance you have that chart? I'd like to save it for reference.

Not sure if it's the exact one referenced but here's one I found.

GreyPebble44archiveJul 16

Maybe until I've emptied this little bottle completely šŸ‘€

IronLantern24archiveJul 16

I use it until the vial is empty.

ClearWillow59archiveJul 16

I'm up to 4 months now since I titrated down and am still on 30mg vials. I use a pen and stay careful with technique, always checking for cloudiness or changes in feel. So far it's been fine.

WryThistle17archiveJul 16

This is my current issue. I've been at 0.6mg a week from the start and want to stay low, maybe up to 1 or 2mg max, though I'd increase if I plateau completely. A 15-20mg kit would be ideal but I plan to test for identity, endotoxins and sterility which costs around that amount per round. I'm leaning toward ordering 30mg kits in case I need to go higher and because testing multiple sizes adds up fast. A single test round costs about the same as four kits so I'm torn on whether buying smaller ones means fewer total kits overall. I'm barely past halfway and already near the 90-day mark.

Same here, I wipe and let it dry before and after each use, put it back in the bag once dry and store it in the older garage fridge that runs colder than current models.

SteadySignal69archiveJul 16

Based on the robustness data I limit a reconstituted vial to 6 weeks. After that it has likely fallen below acceptable purity and I wouldn't buy or use it.

BlueSignal97archiveJul 16

My 30mg tirz lasts 2 weeks at 15mg a week.

WryThistle17archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @SteadySignal69

You should check out that spreadsheet someone posted earlier. Might give you a couple extra weeks.

SteadySignal69archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @WryThistle17

Looking at it I think 30 days should be the max. Two of three samples fell below expectations at 45 days and all at 60 days. 45 days seems borderline from the chart.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 16

Keep in mind much of what we receive has overfill and mass does not equal sterility. Five percent degradation on a 34mg vial still leaves over 30mg. Choices on vial duration involve both time-related degradation and number of punctures. Up to day 90 there isn't major loss. The chart tracks degradation not purity. Oxidation and similar factors affect purity as noted in standard definitions. Mass degradation refers to the peptide breaking down or modifying over time via oxidation, deamidation or fragmentation.

When I started HCG about 15 years ago the guidance was to keep it no more than 6 weeks, stretching to 8 only in an emergency before quick degradation. There were also worries about bacterial buildup past that point. I've applied the same limit to the other peptides I use now, doing 6-7 weeks in the fridge before reconstituting a new one.

BrightSparrow36archiveJul 16

Isn't it funny how people read the same data differently? I've seen that chart and some treat any drop as a reason to toss it, while I see most samples showing only minimal change at 60 or even 90 days with one outlier and one average result. I say use it until it's gone.

QuietFenwick11archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @SharpHarbour71

Nothing conclusive there since HCG differs from a GLP-1.

WryThistle17archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @NorthWillow72

Good point. My 15mg tested at 17 and change so even at 10 percent degradation I'm still at 15.3mg. Shout out to the source for the extra potency. That's exactly why I felt comfortable stretching this far when someone said 30 days max because of the chart. I'd seen this and another study before and was fine with the 90-day results. The overfill explanation makes me feel better about this vial. Best practice is probably closer to 60 days but in a pinch 90 days still looks like a safe window for both sterility and potency in my view.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 16
↳ replying to @WryThistle17

It also becomes an issue of added air, number of pins, and storage sterility. For micro-dosing I might split the vial to reduce those factors. We each have our own risk tolerance. Since we already save so much the real question is dose cost on a 10mg versus 60mg vial at 1mg dosing. It comes to about a dollar per mg for the smaller one, which might be worth it for peace of mind. I'd buy the 10mg.

This is the average of all reta data points combined, just to make it clearer visually.

PatientSparrow35archiveJul 18

I try to finish any peps within 6 weeks so they haven't lost too much. No sense paying for a larger amount if half goes bad before use.

LevelBeacon74archiveJul 18
↳ replying to @NorthWillow72

I agree. I started with a 15mg vial doing 4 weeks at 1mg then 1.5, 2, 2.5 this week and 3 next. The 2.5mg dose gave me noticeable stomach issues Thursday morning.

SteadySparrow75archiveJul 18

I set aside my perfectly good reconstituted tirz from a 30mg batch to start using some leftover 65-day-old compounded tirz still in the fridge. My usual Friday dose is 5mg but the plunger drifted to about 5.5mg on the draw. It will probably drift a bit more until finished. No need to waste it, then I'll go back to the fresh 30mg batch.

KeenCompass27archiveJul 18

For all my peps I use them until gone. I've seen enough degradation testing that I'm comfortable going easily to 120 days after reconstitution.

As long as the original poster is here I'd like to ask about pinning views. I'm always open to updating my approach with new information so I'd like to be corrected if I'm off. I've never discarded a vial just for age but if I had a 60mg one at 1mg a week for over a year it would feel too exposed from all the punctures. Do you have any number tied to age and usage that would make you stop? Thanks for the input.

KeenSignal28archiveJul 19
↳ replying to @ClearSignal22

According to that table tirz goes up in concentration the longer it sits out, just kidding, I know it's normal variation but it shows how stable the compound is.

LevelBeacon74archiveJul 19
↳ replying to @KeenCompass27

What did Baretta say? You can take that to the bank.

KeenCompass27archiveJul 19
↳ replying to @NorthWillow72

Yeah I'd think over a year is pushing it with repeated punctures. What would I stop at? I'm not sure. I'm already fine with 120 days so probably not past 180. I would not use large quantity vials if dosing just 1mg a week. I'd get 10 or 20mg vials instead.
