Sequencing of GH peps, creatine, protein around AM workouts

10 replies7 peopleSep 27, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

How should GH peptides, creatine, and protein be timed around morning lifting sessions while using tirzepatide?

Participants report that peptide timing before or after workouts makes little measurable difference to IGF-1 levels or muscle gains. Fasted morning training is common and workable even on tirzepatide, with sleep quality prioritized over precise nutrient windows. Creatine and post-workout protein timing are viewed as flexible, and overall consistency with lifting matters more than optimization details.

Whether additional peptides beyond CJC/IPA will meaningfully improve recomp results for users already on tirzepatide

Nothing here is advice.

Curious what others do for timing supplements, peptides, and food around early training sessions, mainly weights but the same pattern works for cardio or sports too. Quick background: early 40s, long-time lifter, 6' 215 lbs, started tirz back in January from 265. Shifting into recomp now, goal around 205-210. IGF-1 tested a couple times this year with a z-score of 0.3 right before the current CJC/IPA run. Testosterone recovered to the low-normal range once the weight came off. Planning to try the GH peptides first before considering TRT. Built muscle fine while heavier despite the low T, but some lean mass dropped after starting tirz. Current setup: up around 5:15, pin 500 mg CJC/IPA blend, zero-calorie energy shot, then lift for an hour starting near 5:30 followed by 15-30 minutes of zone work.

I dose peptides either before or after training and it does not seem to matter. Morning, evening, fasted or fed, the IGF-1 stays elevated and muscle keeps coming. I check IGF-1 monthly and timing changes have not moved the numbers much. Still gaining muscle while dropping fat. The main thing is just lifting. If a peptide keeps you awake, shift it or skip it because good sleep beats any small dose of a GHRH for recovery. Obsessing over protein timing windows is not worth it for someone who is not a pro. Pick a schedule that lets you keep lifting consistently for years.

Same situation on tirz, so I pin CJC/IPA fasted in the morning before the gym. Night dosing kept running into the empty-stomach issue because of slowed gastric emptying, and the restless sleep was not worth any timing benefit. Creatine and post-lift protein windows are flexible enough that a few calories during the session are fine if they help performance. Better to protect training quality and sleep than chase an exact fasted window.

Thanks, that lines up. I have always trained fasted in the morning even before any peptides, just to fit the schedule. I will stop worrying about changing that pattern.

Respect for sticking with morning sessions. I feel like I run out of gas quickly without lunch, plenty of water, and a snack after work.

You are doing fine and overthinking the details.

Have you looked at MOTs-C or NAD+ in the morning for those early workouts? Many people find it makes a noticeable difference.

I have considered it. Trying L-carnitine first to see how that feels for a while.

You have not seen the backwards hat yet. In fairness, bro science does include the word science.

I have trained in the morning almost my whole life and still hit PRs in my 40s. Just started reta so we will see how that changes things, but the results should be worth it. After training I eat and take creatine plus a multi. Still looking into whether other peptides make sense.

I usually hold off until the scale stalls for a couple weeks, then reconstitute 20 mg of MOTs-C and use it every other day for fasted morning sessions to push past the plateau.
