Anyone Switch From Reta to Tirz?

13 replies9 peopleMay 2, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Should I switch from retatrutide to tirzepatide or add cagrilintide when food noise returns at higher reta doses?

Users report mixed outcomes when moving between these peptides. Some found tirzepatide restored appetite control that faded on retatrutide while others preferred stacking cagrilintide on top of retatrutide or trying tirzepatide plus survodutide. Side effects such as allodynia, anxiety, and skin sensations appeared or disappeared depending on the combination chosen. Several people noted that simply raising the retatrutide dose further or adding low-dose cagrilintide worked without a full switch.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether to swap entirely to tirzepatide, stay on retatrutide and add cagrilintide, or increase retatrutide to 12 mg before considering any change.

Still open

Long-term outcomes and optimal maintenance dosing after any switch or stack remain unaddressed.

Nothing here is advice.

I've used Reta for almost a year and a half. It worked well early on, but now at around 9 mg weekly the results aren't as strong. Tirz seems better for controlling hunger signals according to what I've heard, so I'm thinking about changing over. Some people mention good results from pairing Reta with Cagri for better appetite control. Has anyone tried moving from Reta to Tirz or adding Cagri?

Funny you posted this. I've been considering the same swap for a couple of weeks. I tried adding Cagri on top of Reta and it handled the hunger that Reta leaves behind for some of us. I began at .25 mg Cagri and moved up to .5 mg weekly. I'm currently on 3.5 mg Reta and it works well. The reason I'm thinking about Tirz is that I believe I had less inflammation on it before. Maybe that's just in my head.

There was a thread about this recently. What exactly are you hoping to achieve? Why did you decide to stop increasing the dose once you reached 9 mg?

I'd add rather than replace. Instead of lowering Reta while raising Tirz or stopping Reta cold and starting low on Tirz, you can keep your current level and layer something on top. I combine Sema with Reta because Reta isn't a strong GLP-1 agonist on its own. The Sema covers that part and also gives me the skin feeling once Reta goes over 8 mg.

I went through this change. I began on Tirz and the hunger control was solid with steady weight drop. I tracked daily weight, waist size, everything. Then I moved to 8 mg Reta. Hunger came back stronger, I got more side effects like higher heart rate and skin itching, and the weight loss was about the same or even a bit slower some weeks. I switched back to Tirz plus Survo to keep the glucagon part and now feel much better. Weight loss picked up again, appetite is low enough for easy intermittent fasting, and side effects are minimal. I'd suggest trying the switch.

I hadn't thought about using Tirz with Survo. Do you notice fewer sides from Survo even though its glucagon action is stronger than Reta's?

For me the sides are basically gone. The only real downside is a small extra cost over Reta. Appetite control and weight loss have been excellent though. Survo hits GLP-1 receptors much harder than Reta, which probably explains it. Since the China price isn't a big barrier it's an easy choice and I plan to keep the combination going. Like Reta, Survo targets visceral fat well, which is one of my goals. I'd recommend the stack.

I did move from Reta over to Tirz. There are several threads on the subject if you look around. Just start low and go slow when changing from one to the other.

I switched in both directions. I started Tirz in November and dropped 25 pounds in two months. I got impatient and wanted faster progress so I began moving into Reta in mid-January while tapering Tirz. Appetite control dropped off quickly and hunger returned sooner. I added Cagri at low doses and that helped, so I planned to drop Tirz and stay on Reta plus Cagri, then maybe remove Cagri later once Reta's appetite effect showed up at higher doses. As I raised Reta I developed allodynia that interfered with sleep and exercise. I got tired of it and started dropping Reta fast while returning to my old Tirz dose. Appetite suppression

I'm getting ready to do the same. Tirz was okay for me. After switching to Reta the lack of pleasure is strong and I'm also dealing with bad anxiety plus dread. If Reta could be causing those feelings it's not worth it. The flat feeling also seems worse than what I had on Tirz, so I'm planning to go back.

Reta works better for weight loss than Tirz. You'd need a clear reason to switch. Just feeling like it's weaker now doesn't tell the whole story by itself. Have you reached your target weight? How much have you lost, what's your age and height, are you still losing or holding steady? After big losses it's normal to need fewer calories and feel hungrier; if weight isn't climbing then the drug is still doing its job at maintenance. If you want to keep losing and have no troubling sides, raising the dose is the simplest step. Only add or swap if sides block further increases or you're already at 12 mg. New compounds bring small but real risks of fresh sides or reactions. Low-dose Cagri makes more sense than switching to Tirz or Tirz plus Survo, but I'd still try 12 mg first.

I just want to say how much I enjoy watching everyone test things and come up with their own fixes. This place is great. I've tried all of them and keep returning here. It's a solid bunch of thoughtful, hands-on people who share the ups, downs, and occasional bad deals.
