Down 16 inches around my stomach. Holy smokes!

Summary

How much waist measurement loss is possible after nearly a year on GLP-1 medications?

One user reports dropping from 15 to 16 inches off the waist after almost a year on GLP-1 drugs, moving from the largest person in most rooms to one of the smallest while reaching 215 pounds from a 330 start. Others share similar but smaller losses, frequent clothing size changes, and experiments with stacking tirzepatide and retatrutide. Participants discuss the practical challenges of wardrobe turnover and whether elastic options or repeated purchases work better during ongoing loss.

The last check showed 15 inches, and the number keeps going down. Almost a year on this GLP-1 path and these medications still feel like pure magic. Without them my appetite is out of control. I used to be the biggest person at work or anywhere else, but now I am one of the smaller ones. It is great and I will take it. Getting close to my target.

AmberCinder18archiveMay 28

Wow, seven inches already had me feeling pretty good about myself. You are making the rest of us look bad. Nice work.

QuietQuill30archiveMay 28

I have not tracked the total inches, but my waist is now at 30 and some of those pants are already loose. The combination of GLP-1, diet, and exercise really helps. Good going.

Same here. I have needed to get belts and even then the old 38-inch waist pants look ridiculous on me.

I was once down seven inches too and that already felt like a huge win. Looking back at old pictures the difference is hard to believe.

Same situation. Three months ago I bought 38s after coming down from 40s and 42s, and before that elastic waistbands. I have gone from XXL to large and now have a pile of 36s that are nearly perfect.

BlueMeadow35archiveMay 28

That is really impressive. I also keep a collection of clothes in different sizes and lately I have only been adding larger ones to the top. With extra closets it is easier to store the good pieces. Can you share how long you have been on it, what you are taking, your starting weight, how you increased the dose, and where you are now?

That is solid progress. I started in 40s and now the 36s are getting loose too. I have not bought new belts yet, just punched extra holes and shortened the old ones. The cost of the peptides is small compared with replacing a whole wardrobe.

PatientFenwick91archiveMay 28

Wow, that's a huge measurement! You must hardly show up at all now. What happens to all those previous outfits of yours? I've always been curious if folks buy themselves a brand new set of clothes and when exactly that occurs.

RustBeacon82archiveMay 28

This is great to see. Love the success posts. Well done.

BlueCompass15archiveMay 28

That is wild and really impressive. I have gone from 44 to 40 but can still squeeze into some stretchy 38s.

I was wondering the same thing today. I think that point has arrived. I was not that large to begin with, only about four inches lost. The sixteen-inch drop mentioned earlier is mind-blowing.

Exactly, the belt can only scrunch so far before it starts feeling uncomfortable. Are elastic waistbands the answer, or do we just keep buying new clothes? I also lost several inches from another medication and still do not know the best approach.

If you are still planning to lose more weight then elastic makes sense for now. Once you reach a stable size it will be time for a full new wardrobe.

PatientFenwick91archiveMay 28
↳ replying to @PatientFenwick39

Then we might go back up because of shortages, so elastic really is the practical choice.

Sure. My highest weight was 330. At that point it was getting very hard to wipe myself and I could no longer tie my shoes or trim my own toenails. The first shot was on August 9th 2025. I am not sure about the exact dose increases, but I am now at 6 mg tirz on Fridays and 7 mg reta on Mondays. Current weight is 215. I have been letting myself eat a bit more and only lost five pounds last month, which is fine. After an upcoming procedure I plan to push harder toward 190. I got rid of all my larger clothes and now have four containers full of GLP-1s. I am never going back to being that size unless I end up in prison.

Hopefully you also changed your eating habits and lifestyle. Otherwise you will have no choice but to stay on these medications for the rest of your life. Stopping is going to be very difficult. Consider yourself warned.

I put all the old clothes up for free on a local app. I want them gone right away. This is my third round of new clothes and I have spent a fair amount, but I do not mind. After being that heavy for so long, looking put together now matters more. People treat me differently and the wardrobe helps with that.

Pride does not even cover it. Your effort has motivated a lot of people here and in your own life. Not every hero wears a cape. Thanks for sharing the journey and glad you can now see your feet better.

I hope I can follow the same path. Great work.

SteadyTimber49archiveMay 28

Amazing. I do not know my exact inch loss, but it is a good amount. I went from a size 16 to a 6. These medications are some kind of magic. Congratulations.

Question for you. How long were you on just tirz before adding reta, and what made you decide to add it? I am asking because it is probably something I will consider later.

AmberCompass48archiveMay 28
↳ replying to @BlueCompass15

Honestly because it was available and I already had it. Online everyone says not to mix them because it might waste the drugs or burn out receptors, but on the forum people do it all the time. At 10 mg of tirz early this year I started adding reta, lowered the tirz, and slowly raised the reta. I began small, thinking I would switch completely, but now I am on similar amounts of both and my hunger is much more manageable. I do not plan to stack forever. Studies show these medications can lose effectiveness after a while, so I want to reach goal first. After that I will probably stay on one or the other, likely reta since it feels stronger, but I like both. I am still losing and that is the main goal right now.

Sixteen inches is serious progress. Proud of the effort you put in over the year. Keep going, the goal is getting close.

This is fantastic. Good motivation to stay out of prison.

PlainAlder11archiveMay 28

Great job. I wish I had measured and taken pictures before I started at the beginning of January.

WryCinder14archiveMay 28

Super impressive journey. Congratulations.

QuietAlder25archiveMay 29

Congratulations my friend.

PatientThistle65archiveMay 29

Congratulations. I was also mixing tirz and reta and last week I stopped the tirz completely. I notice a little more hunger and the scale has stopped moving. I increased reta by half a milligram but I keep thinking about reconstituting another bottle of tirz. I might just do that.

Great work, but along with the GLP-1s you also have to learn to stay away from junk food and sugar. You cannot rely on the medications forever.

CopperSignal27archiveMay 29

Congratulations. I do not know my starting waist or exact starting weight because I was too horrified to measure back then, but my stomach used to hit the steering wheel and now there is about an eight-inch gap.

AmberCompass48archiveMay 29
↳ replying to @CopperSignal27

I was also scared to measure at first but I am glad I did. You are doing great.

WarmAnchor59archiveJun 11

Well done finishing that long process. Hoping it leads to an easy minimal upkeep level soon.

↳ replying to @AmberCompass48

That is very inspiring. I have a lot to lose, just like you did, and reading this gives me confidence. You must feel amazing compared with before. I need this for myself. Good on you.
